Luciana, the hostess, makes you feel at home. She spent time with us every time we needed suggestions of which village to visit, how to get to Florence and Tuscany, etc. The grounds are just beautiful and the setting lends itself to friendly exchanges with other guests, many of whom return yearly.

I hope to return to this special place and recommend it highly. My dog loved it too! The area is hilly with pretty winding roads and gorgeous little villages. Wonderful food in the restaurants we visited.

This was our second time to Villa Vallerosa, though it has been about 16 years since our last visit, so it seemed brand new. Actually, much of it was brand new. The salt water swimming pool overlooking the hills and olive trees was a huge hit with the kids. Our 9 year old got "quite close" with the donkey, who...

We just spent a week long family vacation at Villa Vallerosa and had a fabulous time with delicious food, interesting adventures to historic sites that most vacationers do not experience, relaxation by the pool, and loving care from the hosts Luciana and Luigi. We will be back!

For the second year, I have brought college students to Vallerosa to do a fresco painting workshop on site and their stay has given them a memory of a lifetime. Not only were they able to work on a project that had real impact and left a piece of beauty behind but they were in a place of incomparable beauty....

We spent one week in Villa Vallerosa. We were 36 persons ages between 3 month and 86 year and had nine apartments rented. The service and atmosphere was perfect! The whole place was like in a dream. We got help in renting cars and a bus and everything worked perfect. We had two buffet dinners and one night Luigi helpt...

We have stayed at this Villa a number of times and each time we have left with a feeling of home. Luciana and her husband were so accommodating and leave one to feel like family. I would highly recommend this Villa at any time of the year. The views are spectacular, the recommendations from Luciana were nothing but excellent. Our...

We stayed here in july. After a warm welcome by Luciana we felt immediately at home. The children enjoyed the swimmingpool (with a great view!) and all the animals. They liked to go to the donkeys, chickens, horses and both the dogs. Luciana gave us a lot of touristic tips; she knows a lot about the Sabina and Rome. We...

We stayed the second week of May with a group of ten art students from Stonehill College to paint a fresco at the villa. At first we worried that going from Rome to the country-side would dissapoint the students. We could not have been more wrong. The accomadations were spread through several delightful guest houses and Luciana and her staff went out...

This was by far the most memorable experience we have had in 8 trips to Italy. The Sabina area really is unique. Probably what Tuscany was like 30 years ago. Just a short few hours from Rome and you are deep in rural Italy. The roads are bumpy, narrow and winding, but the views are breath-taking. Villa Vallerosa is absolutely...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Villa Vallerosa is a splendid 1800 residence, immediately North of Rome, in the heart of the Tiber valley and the legendary Sabine hills. The Villa is a prestigious building with a breathtaking view. The Villa is situated in the center of a vast agricultural property producing olive oil, wine, vegetables and fruits and the farm is also an important horse breeding center. The country estate is in an exceptionally quiet countryside setting. All the apartments have a terrace or a garden and are furnished with antiques. The owners are fun-loving, friendly and speak excellent English. The charming old hay barn has been restored in the garden of the villa and it is now available for the guests to use also as a meeting room. An large terracotta stove heats up the sitting side of it with the old piano ready for small concerts and musical entertainments. Plenty of tourist information along with books and maps are available too. Large beautiful windows close the old arches of the barn while allowing the sun light in and overlooking the garden and its secular trees.Shared swimming pool 6m x 12m. Ladder steps into the poolThis beautiful country residence is located in northern Lazio, an hour north of Rome near the southern border of Umbria. The charm of this relatively unknown area, with its olive groves and vineyards and its proximity to the medieval and renaissance delights of Italy, makes it a wonderful place for a perfectly relaxing and cultural holiday. Here, you are within easy reach of the hill towns of Etruria, Umbria and southern Tuscany: Orvieto and Assisi are each only 70km away, while Rome and Viterbo (with all the Etruscan sites) are 50km. Also within easy reach for daytrips are Perugia, Arezzo and Siena. The train station, with a frequent service to Rome, is only 5km away and the local village, with shops, restaurants and a fine medieval centre is within walking distance at only 1.5km away. ... more   less
