The Narayan Niwas Castle was the last stay on a three week road trip through the Golden Triangle of Rajasthan. All the places we overnighted were carefully chosen to reflect the true experience of India as it was in bygone years. In a small village about 30kms from the more well known town of Mandawa, Mehansar. Heading from Jaimsalmer via...

There was nothing professional about the owners, Upon arrival, we never felt that we were guests. Auntyji's personal attention on each of our food habits, requirements and the hospitality was beyond any comparison.I would definitely visit them once again and stay as a family rather than a guest!

I have always wanted to stay amongst Royalty in Forts. While on an impromptu road trip to the Shekhawati Region in Rajasthan I was browsing for hotels and chanced upon Narayan Niwas Castle. Booked in over the phone and was guided by Thakur sa'ab to the exact location. The Fort is rustic and veery well kept which is managed by...

If you want to experience Indian hospitality at its truest, do pay a visit to the Narayan Niwas Castle. We spent a night at the Mahansar fort, a three-century-old imposing structure, a part of which has been converted into the Narayan Niwas Heritage hotel. We were travelling by road from Bikaner late into the night. Maheswar Singh Thakur, whose ancestors...

One night stay here and all the Enid Blyton stories about adventures in castles swirled in my mind ! An old dusty place with history writ large everywhere from the faded facade to painted and repainted walls ,pillars and roofs , from old furniture to interesting artefacts and of course the family portraits ! Huge suit with alcoves and open...

As part of a cycle trip we were able to stay for 1 one at this Fort. This is not my first experience here, having spent a night here some 5 years ago. Nothing has really changed and the whole place is in a time warp. This is not a place to stay if you can't make stairs or have...

It was a great experience to stay in this old castle! The owner, his wife and the staff were very welcoming and available. We felt ourselves at home. We had the chance to take part in the Diwali's ceremony. Mr Singh was available at any time to explain us the history of this magical place. He was also of good...

The castle fort is an authentic ancient 17th Century building. It is lost in time, not altered or modernized, except minimally. The Royal Family who are your hosts in this most incredible of homestays, are part of that feudal past which still exists in rural India. It is an experience of a life time. Our exquisite suite Number 1 over...

Staying in Narayan Niwas is nothing for travellers in search of luxury you find in Oberoi Hotels. Luxury in Narayan Niwas is different: it is a place that seemed to have dropped out of time, the Castle has not been restored for enormous amounts but especially that makes the Charme. Sitting on one of the numerous Roof-terraces an watching the...
