Brown Palace was one of the only places that had running water in the flush and really hot water, enough to bath in January time.
The location is good, away from the madness n crowd of pahalgam,
Ibrahim n badshah took very good care of me. The cabin is gorgeous, fully wooden n rustic.
They even lite a fire at night to keep us warm.
Definitely returning back to the same place.

We stayed here for 2 nights in the family room which was comfortable and cosy. One could see the snow laden mountains from the window on one side and lidder river on the other. Meals were provided and food was homely. The garden was super pretty. A big shoutout to the owner Mr Ibrahim who is friendly and ever-smiling.
Personally, I feel the price of the rooms could be cheaper as the lodge is far from the main market. In general, Pahalgam taxi drivers try to fleece tourists which is quite annoying. An advice would be to go to Pahalgam from Srinagar on a prepaid taxi and not hire a taxi for the entire trip. Only local taxis are allowed in Pahalgam, so the other taxi is an absolute waste. Unfortunately, taxi drivers aren't helpful. I am hoping no one gets a rude taxi driver like we did. That was a big letdown of our trip.

Brown palace is an amazing place. We had a very cheerful and helpful host Mr Ibrahim who has been in the hospitality business since decades-he carries on the legacy of his father. Very homely atmosphere with a menu suiting the palate of both national and international guests. An it is just adjacent to the road and hence easily accesible, at the same time the location away from the hustle bustle of main market is an added advantage. I would be visiting the place again. My wife and self had a comfortable, relaxing and amazing weekend!

The owner was extremely rude and showing callous attitude towards customers. Many customers felt issues due to non availability of water all throughout the night, with no staff available to sort out the matter. The electricity supply was intermittent and staff was reluctant to use backup generator citing reasons that diesel is not adequate. Room heater and bed heater were not working despite extremely cold weather conditions during night time. No regular room cleanup was done, and staff had to be reminded again and again for adhering to basic tenets of hospitality. Towels were not replaced citing that clean ones have not been received from laundry. On the contrary, the owner and staff tried to imply that towel was soiled by us, despite the fact that it was lying on bathroom floor for almost 2 days and the staff coming in with soiled shoes thrice in the washroom upon request to sort out issues related to geyser and water supply. Overall one of the worst experience as a tourist and customer. The same sentiments were echoed by other customers staying at the same Property during the same time. Moreover the property was under major repairs, making undue noise and unhygienic conditions in the corridors, next to rooms. Inadequate number of blankets was yet another issue faced by customers, especially travelling with their kids. The apathy and callous attitude towards customers was just uncanny. Will advise everyone considering to Stay at the property 10 times before they procede with their booking.

The moment I looked at the pictures of this place on internet, I knew it was not the usual hotel/lodge you stay everyday. It was almost evening when we reached Brown Palace to be welcomed by Ibrahim Ji & his staff Nasir. We were served Kahwah & cookies even before we went to our room; and there was no mention of free welcome drink on any website (this is what going the extra mile means). The room & its view was breathtakingly beautiful & we had no wish to leave the room. But Ibrahim ji forced us to go with Nasir for a walk in the village & to the golf course and when we did that we had one of the best experiences in Kashmir. From that moment I knew I did not come to a hotel, I came to another home of mine. Starting from that very moment till the last, every second with Brown Palace & the wonderful people over there have been special for us. It won’t be wrong if I tell that I feel in love with Kashmir & its people & a major chunk of this feeling is due to Ibrahim Ji & Brown Palace. Can’t wait to be back again

It was love at 1st sight. The moment you see the place...Brown Palace ...makes you feel at home

The hotel is located near the flowing River Lidder. You can spend some quite evenings just listening to the sound of the water flowing. Enter the gates of the hotel and you can see an amazing Garden area with seating arrangements and a swing...yeah a swing.. something we all love .. irrespective of our age.

The porch has a cozy little fireplace, plenty of pictures and letters from travellers and trekkers over the years..all speaking about the Host and the Hotel and how they were made to feel at home.

The rooms are spacious and cosy. The food excellent, the staff going out of their way to make you comfortable.

Last bit not the least - the Host - Ibrahim ..who is a soft spoken gentleman with an ever smiling face and shining eyes. Always ensuring that his guests are well cared for.

The story of how I got in touch with Brown Palace starts a few years back. When I first went to Mcleodganj in 2015, I had a short stay at Pink House. This is where I met Mr. Javed, who runs Pink House, and made his acquaintance. He is from Kashmir and mentioned to reach out to him in case I was ever travelling there. And that's what I did and Brown Palace was the 1st Hotel I booked for this trip. Brown Palace is run by Javed's cousin Ibrahim who is a equally hospitable host.
Brown Palace is located 2.5Km from Pahalgam, amidst the calmness of Laripora. Hotel is next to the road and Lidder river flows next to the other side of the road. The scenery around is beautiful, you can see snowcapped mountains up close and vast beauty of the valley. The village around is also quaint and loved having a stroll in it.
The hotel itself has all amenities and I wish I could have stayed a couple of more days just to absorb the environment around us.

Brown palace is really a wonderful place for passing vacation. The artistic design of the cottage with beautiful rhythm of lidder river is really enjoyable & peaceful. The most important thing is anyone can feel a home environment there. The owner & the supporting staffs are very much cooperative and friendly to the tourists.
