If you have no other reason to visit this pretty little town in County Donegal...go to Frewin for the homemade bread.... Owner, hostess and sublime breadmaker, Regina Coyle also gives an easy and cheerful welcome. A former Victorian rectory turned family house, turned B&B it's a gentle stopover if you're touring one of Ireland's most beautiful counties. Dinner is optional,...

I cannot think of enough positive comments to make about this outstanding family run premises.I recently passed through Ramelton with 18 ladies on our way to Portsalon. We stopped off at Frewin house for afternoon tea and Regina and her family had laid on the most amazing display of home cooked and baked goods. Regina, her husband and her daughter could...

We spent 3 nights here over Easter. Everything was wonderful. Frewin House is the consummate retreat; cosy rooms full of books and interesting old artefacts. Regina is the perfect hostess, helpful and welcoming but not intrusive. The bedroom was gorgeous and very comfortable. Breakfast was a beautiful spread of fresh fruit, home-made bread and jams, and food cooked to order....

We spent a wonderful night in serene surroundings at Frewin House. We were looking for a romantic, relaxing evening and that is what we got. Regina greeted us warmly and once we were shown our lovely bedroom we enjoyed afternoon tea in the library in front of a roaring fire. We were the only guests staying that night. In the...

My boyfriend took me to Frewin house for a couple of days during the summer and it was fantastic! Regina was amazing and made us feel so welcome. The breakfast was possibly the best breakfast I have ever had! The B&B is in a very quiet area and is ideal if you are looking for a short quiet and relaxing...

Regina's wonderful hospitality and delicious breakfasts ensured that our stay here topped most other B&B/country house hotel experiences. I would highly recommend Frewin to anyone seeking a cosy base from which to explore the delights of Ramelton and its surrounding environs.

My daughter and I stayed in the self catering cottage in the garden of Frewin House grounds. The owner was very friendly and informative. The cottage itself is, I think, a converted barn with bags of character and charm and a lot cheaper than the bed and breakfast (we did see the main house, which is equally beautiful). The cottage...

Our outstanding host, Regina, had the best room in the house ready for us upon arrival and a restaurant/pub, the Bridge Bar, lined up for our dinner. Because of the amazing room and the late arrival into Ramelton, we decided to sleep in and take breakfast at 0900 and since we were the only ones in that evening/morning it made...

All been said before. Very friendly hostess ,superb breakfast , lovely house very quirky and filled with all sorts of interesting things. Very comfortably situated at end of village. Some great pubs. We enjoyed the bridge view pub. Only reason it is not a five star for us is that the bed is a double ( of the old fashioned...

We spent a night in the cottage at Frewin House on 07/07/13. The cottage is a beautiful place to stay, it resembles a gate keepers cottage & is tucked away in behind the main house. It is a quaint little cottage with everything you would need for a self catering stay. The bedroom covers the entire upstairs floor & has...

“We chose a garden facing double which also had a single bed with a little sitting room area Too. The double room ensuite adjoining a gorgeous single room with a great library is perfect for families. There was another double room that faced the rear of the house and though it didn't have as much light, it did have a great free standing bathtub. There is one more single loft-style single room & its great. The blue colour and century specific fixtures and fittings make crossing the threshold feel like a time machine. The house isn't extremely luxurious, but it is very comfortable and beautiful. It feels so authentic. We will certainly come back again but for a romantic break this time. We felt bad having kept Thomas, the owner, up all night to keep an eye on the house while we were all up chatting and having fun into the night. The house isn't suitable, in my opinion, for a group to take on entirely (even quite a mature group of 30 somethings) to take the house to celebrate an event on location, because one of the home owners must stay awake with you to keep an eye on the house. The owners live at the other side of the residence & are conveniently on hand to help with anything their guests need, and we understood their concern for their beautiful home, but it made us feel a little rude for keeping one of them awake in order to watch over the property. Other than that - as a B&B this house is a gorgeous one and Ramelton is like a fairtytale village, so far from the over coiffed tourist villages we are all use to, the locals and Regina herself are very friendly and add to the enjoyment we experienced here.”
