I stayed here for 4 nights - and after taking 1 day as a rest I used the other 3 days to tour the upper part of NZ by motorcycle. Very helpful and friendly management and really good rates. All the facilities including a cafe down stairs and another one very nearby it suited me perfectly

Apparently the most northerly hotel in NZ. Cool old building. We had fish and chips (with vinegar on the side) for lunch in the garden bar over looking the bay. It was delightful. Highly recommended if you are visiting Mangonui.

We enjoyed the hospitality of the bar and the companionship of the resident cockatoo, Barney, at the hotel as we sat and watched the passing parade of locals and visitors. The bar had a steady stream of customers both to enjoy a beer and a bar meal. The bar boasts an eclectic display of memorabilia - from old big game...

Very nice meal served on a plate in the separate dining room. Cooked perfectly. There is nothing flash or modern about this place with old tables that wobble...just old fashioned service. A wonderful location just across from the water. Would have loved to have had a beer in the bar. This is a very special part of Northland and well...

This hotel still has the old pub feel, with friendly locals and staff. If you enjoy a bet on the horses or a stint on the pokies your catered for here. Large selection of beers and food available. The garden bar is situated to take in the harbour views. An enjoyable place to unwind.

This pub is situated across the road from the water so you can sit inside or outside and enjoy the view. Good selection of beers etc, TAB facilities available, and decent size pokie room if this interests you. Has a old pub feel with a steady stream of local characters calling in to quench their thirst. Well worth a visit.

15 of us visited the pub and had several drinks and lovely fish and chips. The children were entertained by the bird, Barney, they had fun talking to him and watching his tricks. We will definitely be back.
