I struggle to articulate where this hotel with so much potential is missing the mark. I suspect it may be overall leadership and someone holding an authoritative active overview of the place and possibly too stretched staff with multiple roles and tasks. For example The occupants before us dishes were left outside the room for our stay, tables round the pool weren’t wiped during our stay , pool towels were never available , there is a distinct lack of sun beds and the beds available have defiantly seen better days with wheels and legs missing and at times it was difficult to understand some of the presented logic and have mine understood in return.
But I read a short piece above the toaster explaining that staff are all locals and employed as an ethos of supporting local communities, they also are attempting to reduce plastic by having glass filtered water in rooms (although I don’t really get why they didn’t just put a glass bottle of cold water on each table as people sat down and so stop people buying the plastic bottled stuff) and growing organic food for the restaurant. The staff were all very friendly and the female receptionist extremely helpful she, and generously let us ‘lounge’ about in the afternoon of our third day as our train was not due till 20.00.
I think this hotel has so much potential with a bit of leadership and training so I find myself a bit confused what not ‘right’ but forgiving as they make attempts to help the environment, local community and are ALL very friendly.
One sore thing about this place is that they do not adjust / alter their check in hours, despite the fact the neither flights nor trains arrive in Hampi / Hospete at their designated check in times! They have made it a standard practice to get guests who arrive early, to freshen up and get ready in the common bathrooms adjoining the pool. Perhaps they could design a package to suit arrival times of flights / trains!!!
Going by the reviews in the recent past about this property, I was both anxious and worried on betting my horses on a great beginning to the new year. Yet I decided to splurge a princely amount for a 2 night stay
From the time we entered the gates of the property to the time we exited, it was fabulous all through
Food was amazing. All meals had a lavish spread and deserts were especially well made
Every room is fabulous, neat and clean, spacious and the staff prompt in their service.
The resort has plenty of greenery and the organic farm is a shining star
The lady at the reception was always running about ensuring everything is in order
The resort is about 7-8 km from all the attractions and therefore very accessible
Every corner of the resort is well maintained, except for the indoor play area where the TT table and pool table is a bit worn out.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay with a group of 11 family members and will recommend anyone going to Hampi to look no further for their stay option. Absolute value and more for the buck!!!
The Good: pretty much everyone who works there is pretty nice and polite. The location is good as it is only 1 5 minutes away from some of the main temples and ruins, and the swimming pool is quite Ok.
The not so good: Two out of every three times we tried asking something from a waiter, they had to go find a supervisor simply because lack of English proficiency. They also seem to think that having all staff looking posh is enough to call themselves a 4 star hotel... Some things that were not up to par: 1. rooms are just Ok, we had to ask them to spray the bathroom as we constantly found big fire ants inside the toilet bowl. 2. Food was just Ok as well. I know we are in India, so I was not expecting them to have a huge selection of western food, but what I found is that there is literally stuff written on their menus that they don't actually have. Similar to this, they never followed the schedules they themselves have written down in the printed information they give. In reality, they only have the buffet food ready about half an hour after the time that is printed as the official time, and many times it is only fully ready about 1 hour later... Breakfast included a selection of old bread every day, as well as pastries that could be used as blunt weapons. Crackers and biscuits were as hard as croutons... 3. Internet was patchy, and it only worked well for us in the room the first couple of days. 4. Toiletris were not replenished every day, and we had to constantly call to ask for more shampoo or toilet paper.
Overall, it's not horrible, and it is quite Ok. But not at their price, and not advertised as a 4 star hotel.
The buffet breakfast is included and offers a wide selection of choices to meet an array of dietary preferences. There is also a buffet served for dinner. Not sure about lunch because we were not there at that time of day. Although, they did pack a lunch for us upon request on our last day. The food at each meal was delicious, nicely prepared and well seasoned. The wait staff was very attentive. We learned that all the employees are hired locally and trained on site. This seemed to add to the friendly feel of the place.
The grounds are spacious and well landscaped with a variety of plants, shrubs, and trees. The large pool is centrally located and the perfect place to relax and cool off after a long hot day of sightseeing. Drinks may be ordered and served in the pool area. One afternoon, there was a group of guests practicing yoga under the shade of the trees.
It was quite easy to arrange taxi rides for going out to the historic sites and there are plenty! Their drivers were great! There was a music event one evening and a dance and drumming event on another at the resort.
The manager is present and accessible, a great role model for excellent customer service. There seemed to be quite a few return customers.
Our room was clean, spacious and had all the necessary accommodations we needed. They also have rooms that are connected with a common door, great for families.
Great clean pool, sunbeds and towels.
Food (buffet style) is good although most is indian (not problem for us) and staff try so hard to please in the restaurant. There is abar but never saw anyone init-wine,beer and other drinks available.
Breakfast was abig slow as we had early starts on 2 mornings, Bits came out slowly when they were ready not in any logigal order. Mostly indian foods. No cooking station.
Really enjoyed our stay however on check out staff were dissinterested, did not ask us about our stay, did not engage at all. Such a shame.
The staff is very friendly and helpful . P. Sathya, Guest Relations Executive's name certainly stands out.
The facility could do more to upgrade as the electricity keeps going on and off - with the generator kicking in. However, if one is watching TV, then the channels need to be readjusted every time. Also, there are ~ 334 TV channels listed in the information sheet provided but most are not subscribed for and do not work.
There are no emergency lights in the rooms.
The Buffet is excellent with a large variety of dishes catering to all tastes. Their Sous Chef, Mr. Vikas Kumar is the star of the Resort, who is sensitive to food allergies and looked after us very well. He is definitely a person to get in touch with while one is there.
There is Ayurvedic Centre for regular massages - separate areas for men and women.
What is most interesting is that half the area of the resort is a Organic Garden - with Mango, Papaya, Vegetables and Coconut trees. One should plan a visit to it at 4 pm each day by appointment.
Unfortunately the good parts end there. The service is dismal. One sugarcane juice took an hour. The guests are forced to eat their buffet for every meal. The staff barely understands English or Hindi. Or maybe they are just asked to say yes to everything and never really deliver on it.
Check in and check out took forever. The lack of service makes it very difficult to enjoy the place.
