Stay at 'Clouds End Villa,' a sprawling 9 acre property with its own step field, gardens and forests. Cloud End was recommended in the Tatlers Travel guide 1993 as one of the 50 best hotels in the world.
The Cloud's End Villa is a gorgeous property which delivers on everything it promises to. We stayed in a beautiful, spacious room with a breathtaking view - of the mountains ahead of us and the gardens below. When it rains, you can watch the clouds waft by. The garden and terraces are great places to spot birds and insects and are safe enough to let young children run around. The cooks are exceptional and very accommodating of various palettes and the staff are extremely helpful and courteous. We stayed here as part of a working break and the internet and general network connectivity was excellent so we managed to work uninterrupted. What makes this property special is that you can walk to cafes, the forest, do small treks and yet manage to stay away from the noise and chatter of the town. (We found it a bit challenging to locate as the map is not very accurate, so do call them for directions) …

We were a family of 10 across four generations (age 83 to 5 years) and each one of us simply loved our stay at Cloudsendvilla. Nestled in verdant serenity of Dhauladhar ranges the place offers homely comfort. Rooms are spacious and well lit with modern amenities. The staff was extremely friendly, courteous and serviced us efficiently. During the five days we stayed the Chef treated us to fresh and sumptuous homely food ..... even shared some recipes with us. Coincidently the owner, former Raja of Kangra & Lambagraon, was there and we had the privilege of spending time with him and he shared fascinating stories and history of the region. The atmosphere was really special and without doubt Cloudsendvilla would be remembered for one of the most memorable family holidays we have ever spent.…

The cottages are lovely, slightly old fashioned but we found that charming. Comes with crazy monkeys running wild after lunch, which was very funny. Meals included with everyone sitting round a large table together. A large selection to dip into but no menu.We met the marharini who until recently was an elected member of the Indian parliament, which was fascinating. Very steep steps up from road, so tricky for people with mobility issues.

I was visiting Mcleodganj and Dharamshala with family. We had booked the cottage for two nights at Clouds End Villa is the residence of the Maharaja of Kangra. It is a sprawling 9 acre property with its gardens. It is the ideal place to laze around in the garden, read a book, do the chit chat or play carom in the privacy of your cottage. The cottage was very spacious with two bedrooms and a separate dining room . All the rooms were well maintained and equipped with AC . The staff was very hospitable and courteous. Also not to forget the food. The food was delicious (freshly prepared and tasted like home cooked food). The best part to us was the FOOD - Very homely and very well pampered. Room service was very good - even when they dont have proper intercom - the bell thing work very well. …

Very nice place to stay in Dharamshala away from the road and crowds. Yes the dogs are noisy. We have room 6 in the main building exceptionally large with sitting area lovely feel with antique furnishings. Can be noisy as it’s right above the dining room. The food is good and the gin and tonics large. Service good too.

The stay we had was very comfortable and welcome. In bussy India it is an oasis of quietness. The staff takes really good care of you and the food is excellent. We stayed in a separate house on the premises. We liked it, it was clean and comfortable. The beds are a little hard. But romantically wise a nice place, and it takes 10 minutes by taxicab to reach the quarters of his holiness the Dalai Lama. If you are lucky, you can meet the Maharaja of Kangra, who will be your kind host.

One of the best places with a decent view. Well located, away from hustle bustle. It is 20-30 min walk from McLeodganj market and Dharamsala market. I enjoyed the stay and service at this property. Rooms are clean and bathroom very well maintained (better than many 4 & 5 star properties). Room was cleaned daily and well managed. Housekeeping staff is diligent and good. It was quite cold in December and we were provided with adequate blowers and blankets to enjoy the rains and snowfall. Property manager - Raju bhai is extremely friendly and was a big support in planning our daily schedule. He infact helped negotiating with cabs etc. to get the best prices and service. He is an amazing cook and always served piping hot food. Do try 'gatte ki sabji' that he makes, it is yummy. Must stay place when visiting Dharamsala or Mcleodganj.…

5 star service, 5 star food! The room itself is basic, hot water minimal and dogs barking throughout the night but you won’t receive a warmer welcome from the staff. They cannot do enough to please you and the food was the best food we have tasted in India!! They do not stop serving food until you are completely full then they come round with freshly made desert! It was an absolute pleasure to meet the Maharaja himself aswell who pleasantly sat there chatting with us for half an hour with drinks. Thankyou for having us and welcoming us to your home.

I stayed as part of a VJV group and we took virtually all the rooms, it was pot luck as to which room you got we just selected a key, there are a number of different types of room but every one was happy with their selection. The main plus points must be the location within trees and gardens and the staff and food. I stayed for two nights, had laundry done which was excellent and low cost, the meal on the first night was good but the second night was superb, there was plenty of choice catering for both vegetarian and non vegetarian. We were delighted that the Maharani of Kangra (the Owner) joined us after the meal and was happy chatting away with us As the property is not too far away from local houses there will always be noises of dogs barking but no traffic noise, or you could have monkeys running on the roofs and of course the normal noise of the cicada.…

Though this falls under the category of a hotel yet I thought it is more of a home stay. I along with my family stayed for 3 days in the month of April 17. The hotel is located in a secluded place and one should visit this place only if he/she has a vehicle at hand as there are no restaurants nearby nor any market. The rooms are comfortable enough but I found that the furniture and fittings particularly in the bathrooms need a complete renovation. The area around the property is not well maintained nor clean and gives a feeling of being spooky if no one is in sight. The one thing that I liked was that the food tasted quite like home hot and fresh. The service is also prompt which I liked. All the people in charge of looking after the guests know their duties well within their obvious limits.…
