It was an awesome experience with Hotel Grand Raj.. The most important thing about this hotel is tha space and its location. It is on the main road opposite to Kangra bus terminus. In Himachal its good to have hotels on the main road. It has its own spacious parking and lot of empty area which makes it quite airy too..The rooms were spacious and has all the amenities. The food is tasty...All n all it was a pleasant experience with Hotel Grand Raj.. Highly recommended.

The hotel exceeded my expectation. I had to book this hotel as a last minute change in travel plan.We were travelling from Simla to Dalhousie, the bends in the road made us sick. Hence we cut short our trip and stayed two nights in this wonderful hotel. More over we had a confirmed air ticket from dharmshala to delhi on the 1st Jan 2015. I was told this hotel is very near to this airport (only 15 mins drive). The service, the reception, the food, the room were very good. We were on the first floor in level to their party area. As it was new year eve, they were checking their sound system. The vibration could be felt in the room. I requested the hotel reception to shift us to higher floor. They did not even think for a minute. I was shifted to two floors up in less than 15 mins.They all speak English and Hindi. I recommend this hotel to every one.

Rooms are smelly and pillow blankets and bed sheets are not clean And fresh. A normal Dharamshala has much better rooms and service than this 4 star hotel. Even water bottle, hand towel soap dental kit tea cup are not provided in the room these are all chargeable. in the reception they gave us room key and we open the room some one is already stayed in the room. When asked the towel for room the reception transfer the call in restaurant and they are fighting on phone why should you call us.

Worst stay jn the hotel ever presently staying in this hotel.
The service is so poor that they dont even provide basic amenities in the room such as spoon ,hand towels, tea cups, tea sachets. All were requested and they said we dont give this for free as these are chargeable.
Rooms are smelly and pillow blankets and bed sheets are not clean qnd fresh.
A normal dharamshala has much better rooms and service than this 4 star hotel.
Never recommend anyone to stay here.

Had gone in with least expectations but must say my view changed completely as soon as we entered the hotel . Great food,quick service, very clean n nicely maintained premier rooms true value for money. The USP is the view of d dhaula dhar range from d room , d terrace garden and exceptionally courteous staff .Would suggest this hotel for a stay even if u plan to visit Mcleodganj Dharamshala or Bhagsunaag due to it's proximity to the bus stand as well . Great Going Grand Raj......

Got one of the best rooms 111, Rooms are spacious with Balcony.Nice location and Nice bar.
Food was delicious over and above expectations.
Stayed for my Kul Devi Darshan at Kangra Fort and it only finest hotel in town.

Stayed int he Grand Raj for three nights end of November. Was a very pleasant stay, We had initially booked the standard rooms which were quite a letdown really. The standard rooms have the front door facing the busy highway and the only window in the room is also facing the corridor in front of the highway. These rooms were not quite up to the mark and They felt very cramped and they had a weird stuffy smell as well. We decided to pay extra and upgrade to the premium rooms which come with a balcony facing the Dhauladhar range of mountains. View is quite spectacular. These rooms are very spacious as well compared to the standard rooms and also came with complimentary breakfast. The staff were very courteous all along the way. Polite and very helpful as well. Helped us upgrade to the premium rooms as they were vacant ( Thankfully ! ) Had requested a cake to be delivered at 12 Midnight which was also obliged. Food was also good at the restaurant, Service was very quick. Was quite cold when we visited this hotel and all the rooms came with a separate heaters which was very much required and appreciated. '

We would not have stayed in Kangra had we not been planning to visit Yol (where my Italian husband's father was in a British prison camp from 1941 to '47). In the event it was a very pleasant stay. The view across to the snow-capped mountains was splendid and the hotel excellent for the price. Good food, good service, nice rooms with a heater (it was early February) - and free wireless connection. The temple in Kangra is well worth a visit and if you plan to go to Dharamsala and McLeod I suggest you drive there via Yol since the views onto the DhaulaDhar range are wonderful (whereas the views from McLeod are not so interesting)
