I have nearly a million IHG Rewards points and thought I'd use the opportunity during an extended stay in Taipei to experience the Regent. Boy, was I disappointed! The Hardware: The hotel is really running on its restaurants and retail spaces. The neglect to the rooms is very, very visible. The hotel's common areas are updated, however, many of the rooms and floors are really, really dated, and musty. The sauna/spa (part of the health club) is also very, very dated/old-fashioned. t is very, very disappointing, and quite frankly, shameful to be part of Regent. The website is extremely misleading as to the facilities. Parking is limited, and management does nothing to address the situation. The parking attendant show extreme apathy towards staying guests who need to park. There is only one (1) tiny elevator that serves the 5 floors which are the parking floors, the retail shopping floors, and restaurants and lobby floors. That's just poor planning and management. The Software: Housekeeping staff is the best part about this hotel. The restaurant staff is efficient but impersonal. The front desk setup is extremely confusing. The staff does not care about your IHG Rewards elite status as I am a Spire Ambassador and was not treated as such. Definitely not the kind of service you'd expect from a "luxury" or "five-star" hotel.…
Sunny, you are amazingly lovely!!!Thank you so much for taking care of me each morning in the breakfast time; you make my each day a marvelous start at your restaurant. You are really more than energetic at your job.
In general, my stay at this Regent of IHG Group was quite enjoyable. My room was with a very nice park view. My dinner at a shabu-shabu restaurant within the hotel was really wonderful. My wife was very happy with its shopping floors. However, this hotel’s just too popular. So many people walked around everywhere. I sometimes couldn’t really be relaxed. In addition, the services at the lobby cafe were much under this hotel’s standard when we had our welcome drinks there. That’s why I couldn’t give the hotel the fifth star in this review.
The check-in experience was great. Megan at the front desk was super friendly. She called the day before and asked if we would prefer one-bed or two-bed, as my IHG profile shows two-bed preference but chose a one-bed the last time we stayed at Regent. We were upgraded to a corner premier room, which offered great view of Taipei's skyline (make no mistake, it's just more of the ugly Taipei skyline). The room was spacious (55 sqm) and had a feeling of a junior suite. However, the room really felt dated with the lack of power/USB outlets and slow Wi-Fi. The eastward hallway on the 17th floor had also been filled with cigarettes' smell during our stay, although it was possibly was caused by some heavy smokers staying on the same floor and no fault of the hotel. Worst of all was that the room had no been properly cleaned. The chair was covered with dust, the skin had stain on, and under the nightstand were a few used tissues courtesy of the previous guest. It is hard to believe the hotel's claim of deep-cleaning the rooms after each checkout yet somehow missed the used tissues. Regent's guest service has always been excellent and it is certainly still the case this time. However, I would expect better sanitation at a Holiday Inn Express during normal time. I certainly expected more at a Regent during a global pandemic. For travelers who are not married to IHG, I would certainly recommend looking elsewhere.…
After some twists and turns, still tried to enjoy the service brought by the team. Special thanks to following members: Jacky, Kind and professional; can answer the questions confidently and correctly. I have seen him digested the endless line at the counter alone between 10 am and 11 am on 27/08. Another watched from the sidelines, without any help. Elevator auntie, Hospitable, and as kind as the elders in the family. As soon as the guest comes, will immediately put down the work and come forward to serve. Waitress at TAI PAN Lounge, Professional dining etiquette and knowledge connotation, better then BRASSERIE restaurant team. Waitress with suit at BRASSERIE restaurant, Working hard and always trying to control the overall. Will recommended the floor to be divided into four zones, with a group of team in each zone ( 1 full-time & 1 part-time), the suit team to be flooter, controller, problem solver. Cause I have observed that full-time have been busy coming in and out, while the gray team is at a loss. Was 1 waiter and 1 waitress as busy as full-time that I saw. Housekeeping, Clean the room again in the name of the checking, because the assistant manager reported the situation yesterday. Thanks for your hands, however the training and maintaining quality will be more important. Jamie, Thank you for trying your best to make up and offer the TAI PAN Lounge for me to experience. But inter-departmental communication seems to need improvement because TAI PAN Lounge didn’t get any notice right away. Furthermore to the above, thanks to the all of duty managers for arranging properly for the enquires via mail. There are something can be improved: ① BRASSERIE restaurant team, unable to distinguish between vegetarian and vegan. ② The RVSN is not clear about the TAI PAN room type and the layout.…
The so call luxury Tai pan lounge at Regent taipei sucks! The evening happy hour food is so cheap like other regular business hotel, no where near a luxury lounge standard, the mattress in the room is firm and not comfortable, the worst is the staff in the lounge, when I politely asking for a sparking water, she gave me a look !
I used the InterContinental Ambassador Reward Night here at the Regent Taipei with 2 friends, and it represented a great value. As a Spire Ambassador member, I was entitled to a total of 3 breakfasts when using this Reward Night. Therefore, I called the hotel in advance to arrange an additional bed in the room, so all 3 of us can enjoy the comfort of individual beds. Ms. Tseng offered us several supplement options, and some of them were quite reasonable. She also proactively followed up with all my inquiries, and I had a great impression prior to the stay. The actual experience during our stay, unfortunately, was not on par. Most things went pretty well, and generally speaking, we certainly enjoyed our stay, but clearly the staff members were missing a few details as the hotel was close to full occupation during this long weekend holiday. From the choice of newspapers, my last name to the dining options, there were a few things that were not well communicated. The breakfast was a zoo, with unbearable long lines in front of the entrance and the popular dishes. Coupled with a consumption time restriction, it was in fact not possible to enjoy the breakfast as much as we originally had wanted to. Perhaps due to the traffic, the cleanliness of the Brasserie at breakfast also left much to be desired. On the other hand, the room was spotless, the park view was gorgeous, and the sauna area was well-appointed. The waiters and waitresses at the Brasserie and Azie restaurants were extremely polite and attentive, but not so much at the Gallery bar. Check-out was also a bit confusing, but the hotel did a great job doing post-stay follow-ups after I shared some of my thoughts with the receptionist at check-out. Before check-out, I asked whether it would be done at the same sofa area where I checked in as an Ambassador member, and I was told yes. However, when I arrived, there was actually no receptionist present. The bill came out correctly after some explanations. The concierge was very helpful and stored our luggage for a few hours. I also left a few items in the hotel by mistake, and they were very quick to retrieve the items and mail back to me, which I was very impressed and greatly appreciated. Overall, the Regent Taipei was a great hotel, but there were certainly some rooms for improvement, especially given this is a well-known property with lots of heritage and under this flagship, luxurious brand. If possible, I would recommend the reception to be expanded to accommodate more guests checking in and out. The breakfast area also definitely needs more room to avoid the excessive crowdedness. The hotel has the potential to provide topnotch services, and it has certainly done so in several aspects. I look forward to staying here again and hope they will extend their topnotch services to all aspects possible.…
We stayed at Regent Taipei for five nights in Feb 2021. The hotel has been there for many years and it shows. The sink in the first assigned room had mold all around where it was mounted under the surface. Upon talking to Ricky, the assistant front office manager, we were given a suite. The room was in a much better shape but it still had some black spots around the sink and in the shower. We appreciate Ricky's help but the hotel is in need of serious maintenance in its bathrooms, if not updating.
My wife and I recently stayed for four nights and our stay was perfect. From the moment we walked into the hotel we knew we made the right choice for accommodation during our stay. The room was spacious and comfortable, the staff were very professional and friendly, and atmosphere around the hotel was warm and welcoming. The breakfast was excellent! We wish we could have stayed a few extra days!
I am currently in my first week of a two week business trip here. It is a beautiful property in a nice area with plenty of shopping and places to eat on and off property. The buffets in the hotel are famous and well deserved. I have been very well looked after by both the very kind and helpful staff and management. All of them have gone above and beyond to make sure my time here is comfortable. They are always looking out to make sure I have everything I need.
