- The main entry of the hotel using the high stairs, very inconvenience when you are bringing so much luggage. Only 1 lift available and before enter the lift also need to use the stairs. The lift is slow. - Very far distance to the MRT station. - Need to walk a distance just get to the convenience store. - Carpet of the room is dirty, bitten by the insects, caused me very red and litchi. - The room is small compared to others. Air conditioning is functioning slowly. Did not have many plug for you to charge. However, still have friendly staff.

Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Location was good for night markets and the subway. Neither the pool or fitness center was available which hurt their overall rating. Overall due to the lack of a fitness center, Id stay in a different hotel.

The entry to this hotel is somewhat secluded. It doesnt have a spacious lobby and the hotel is small and dingy. The rooms are small and the bathroom is borderline cleanish. The hotel is located right next to McD and some other shops. You can spend sometime walking around the neighbourhood, but still there's not much to see. No night markets and any other attractions. It's suitable if you're on a budget.

Location is a bit off the main street and may be confusing to taxi drivers if they don't know the area. However once you know where you are it's very convenient. About 10-15 minute walk to Taipei MRT Xin Tian Gong station. The best thing about the location is that it's located by a 5-10 minute walk to bus stations that you can take airport buses to TPE Taoyuan airport. There are two or three bus companies that stop here I think, so frequency is good, about 15 minutes per bus during peak hours. The stop is right next to the side of Xin Tian Gong, so very close to this popular Taipei tourist attraction as well. Taipei is a smaller city than most Asian metropolises, so taxi is convenient and very cheap to get around. This hotel can be considered centrally located to most of Taipei city, which means under 200 NTD ($7 USD) to get around anywhere in Taipei city, unless to the very far flung corners. The hotel is an older hotel refurbished. The refurb was pretty good, and the rooms have modern furniture and decorations. Good sized rooms for an older hotel in Taipei. Breakfast is included, but pretty standard or even substandard. If you are okay with a Chinese/Taiwanese breakfast, it's not too bad with the standard porridge and accompaniments, but not too much Western selections if that's what you absolutely need. The hotel is small, so the corridors are small and twisty. If there's a Mainland China tour group that day, you may hear their squawks in the hallway in the early mornings. That's just a fact of life these days with almost anywhere in the world, the Mainland China tourists. Service is standard budget Taiwan hotel service, meaning they're not going to wow you with anything special or make you feel great with their smiles, but they'll treat you much better than Mainland Chinese establishments would. It's efficient, I guess is what I should say. Doorman will help with luggage if he's feeling up to it or if you ask. Overall excellent for the price and well appointed rooms with decent location.

Initially we had a hard time locating the hotel but after our search, the succeeding moments were a lot easier. A quaint hotel, just as we always wanted...very personal touch by the front desk staff, as well as the restaurant people. They were very attentive to our needs. The room was a surprise, small but well-designed and clean. We had a good night sleep, which I think is a very important factor when travelling. Though the floor carpet was a bit dated or maybe the color has something to do with it...but I'm confident it's clean since the over-all impression I have is that they're neat as can be seen with the linens and food service area. Just another thing is that the water from the shower flows through the side tiling and thus mess up the bathroom floor. But nevertheless, a positive over-all impression ....recommendable!

When I first arrived, they did not have the room I reserved 3 months ago and wanted to give me a room in the basement. And for my final day, they told me a pipe burst and I would have to move to the Vienna Hotel, a lower rated hotel. In each instance, I objected, and they provided the room I reserved and paid for up front. Metro deliberately tried to give me a lower quality room than I paid for. I do not recommend the Metro Hotel. Note how many of the reviews for Metro and other hotels in Taiwan are from Japanese/Chinese travelers who are likely to be in a tour bus/group. I believe Metro tired to shortchange me on my reserved room because they over committed on their tour groups and Westerners are a less important revenue stream, hence I was deliberately lied to by the front desk staff. The breakfast was just OK, less quality than one would expect for a hotel of this type. Also, wifi only works in the restaurant/reception area, not in the rooms. Really, for a few hundred dollars they could add a router to each floor instead of inconveniencing everyone.
