The Grand Victoria is a luxury hotel that does its best to make its guests feel at home. International travel to Taipei has necessarily been restricted due to the Covid outbreak, but the Grand Victoria's staff are doing their best to make travelers feel comfortable. By the way, the 168 Prime Steakhouse can be recommended, it's said to be one of the best steakhouses in the city.
The Grand Victoria Hotel is not the most expensive hotel in Taipei, but it is one of the best. Service and rooms are excellent. Apart from the usual things on finds in up-market hotels, it also has a number of excellent restaurants, including No. 168 Prime Steakhouse, said to be the best steakhouses in the city.
Here again for a week and although the Coronavirus is a huge problem in China, Taiwan is taking all reasonable precautions including the staff here measuring temperature of our heads every time we come back to the hotel. Not many guests here but the service is still great, breakfast still offering a full range of food. One problem for me is unlike hotels all over the world I have to supply my own tea (English breakfast) allergic to coffee and don’t really enjoy red tea. The staff are kind enough to supply a cup and saucer with hot water pity there is no milk jug. A very minor point compared to the high standards including room, cleanliness and friendliness of all the staff. Left Sherwood to come here a couple of years ago where the staff seem up themselves (arrogant). The location here is perfect, a short walk from the metro, over the road from a shopping centre and supermarket plus numerous cafes and restaurants. Happy to be back to our second home in Taiwan after a long trip from UK. …
We appreciate the good friendly service of staff. They offered to help is call taxi without us asking. The hotel food restaurant La Fiesta on the 2nd floor is good for dinner and appreciate the proactiveness of the staff there. The room is very comfortable amd it is great I can plug my computer to the hotel tv monitor to work, using a hdmi cable. There was not much selection of room servic food menu and I did find the wifi service connection to be a bit intermittent sometimes but otherwise everything else was very good.
I'm a regular at this hotel and they never disappoint. Lovely rooms, helpful staff, and a great location near public transit, shopping, and high-tech businesses. I highly recommend this hotel for your next trip, business or pleasure.
Chose the place due to proximity to my conference meeting at Zhongshan district. Was pleasantly surprised at the immaculately clean room which was pretty large, well appointed bath and shower and separate WC. Every Bathroom accessory you could possibly need is replenished daily. Hairdryer. And L’Occitane shower gel and shampoo was great to use. The autotoilet seat with heating was very practical. Complimentary water, tea, coffee and Doritos nacho chips (!) and daily fruit basket was very welcomed.😀 the daily breakfast was very good too. Miramar mall next door has some shopping and restaurants. If you’re looking to visit the Shilin Night market, the free shuttle pickup point is just there at Miramar mall. If you wish to go into the heart of Taipei city just take the metro into town in about 20 mins ~ The nearest metro station (Jiannan Road station) is a 5 min walk away from the hotel. Would highly recommend staying here again if your business is nearby in the area. …
There is no need to go into frantic prayers thinking your room is haunted when the toilet lid opens by itself to welcome you. Also, it closes by itself and sometimes makes strange noises in the night. I arrived at 1 am and was frightened pale when that happened. Just have to get used to automatic toilet. I like the electrically warmed seat it had, and I was expecting it to do more. Well, disappointingly it was not capable of turning into an outdoor Italian fountain. This is a business district. So, I guess the reason I was put here by my host was that this is the nearest good known hotel near my office. The lobby is very spacious, entirely marble white and welcoming. The room I had was equally grand and tinted in white and blue theme. It was towards the luxurious trendy side, carpeted with marble table tops and a see-through bathroom. Sturdy desk by the window in my room, a variety of electrical sockets built into the desktop was such a convenience. All was good until I needed do some video conferences. Now the Internet here was really bad. I missed most of my nightly conference because of this. Bed provided decent sleep quality, but I wished the linens were softer and it would have been perfect. It still had that not-run-in feel which was slightly rough on the skin. The breakfast was not a disappointment. Enough spread for a fitting morning meal. Every dish was right and in line with what you expect in a good hotel. The staff were all courteous and attentive. There are 2 restaurants and a reputable steakhouse in the hotel. If hotel food is not your main dietary, diagonally opposite is a mall with a Ferris wheel on top. Below you will find a food court. On the upper levels, you will find mall type restaurants. A block away, there is another food court below Carrefour. This means if you want the real deal local delicacies on the streets, you won’t find any. Nether is there any night markets in the immediate vicinity. No Taiwan experience here you will find as such. I saw that most people here were on business during breakfast. And only a handful were far away foreigners like me. Most were speaking mandarin, means either they are locals from other cities, or from the near neighboring countries. That said, for a business trip this is a decent hotel to stay in. But if you rely heavily on the Internet, would be wise to give a consideration before staying.…
I stayed at Grand Victoria during a recent work trip and I would definitely recommend it to business travellers as well as holiday-makers. The hotel lobby felt light and airy in terms of décor and colour scheme and gave a very nice first impression. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of my room (Deluxe Room, King-sized bed) and the complimentary daily fruit bowl. The level of service was very good overall and housekeeping was immaculate. The staff are always eager to offer assistance and the level of courtesy is what one has come to expect in Taiwan. The breakfast selection is pretty decent although I found flavour lacking in some of the dishes I tried. The only real downside for me was the location: the hotel is some distance from the hustle and bustle of downtown Taipei and while this may appeal to some, I would have preferred a wider range of restaurants, shopping and entertainment nearby. I was also disappointed that the swimming pool was closed during my stay, even though the weather was definitely warm enough for a few quick laps. …
Hubby was in this hotel on business and I joined him later on personal account. Taxi takes around TD 1250 from Taoyuan airport to hotel. Room had good sceneic views. Stocked up well with Tea / Coffe / Magazines/ Toiletaries and News paper. Room and Bathroom spacious for family with kid. Fresh fruits were given every day. Location is 5 mins walk to Metro and nearby many good shopping malls as well as normal eateries + Michelin Star Restaurants. Breakfast in the hotel was good but limited choice and very repetitive. Room Service Menu is very brief. Far away from the sightseeing places and I suggest not to speak to hotel concierge as they cant really guide properly. Must Try N 168 Prime Steakhouse, the in house restaurant. Food is Michelin standard. They close at 9.30PM so you must plan early. Thanks to them for accommodating without reservation. One suggestion, reception and people around do not seem to care you are around. A little bit warmth and interaction would help.…
I stayed for over one month for a job transition. Room, service and hotel location are excellent. Some minor things: They have a lot of weddings, which can be annoying. The gym is minimalist. Breakfast can be busy with waiting for a table.
