Small rooms as average in Taipei. Location is perfect for exploring ximending busy area. Rooms are clean and efficiently organized. Washroom is small and the shower is not comfy to use. I got a price of 25 USD, so it was a big deal.

Stay was pleasant for the price and last minute booking, except for a few details that could easily been resolved. Most staff are warm and friendly, they have a cute resident cat who is mostly shy. Room service is good, but don't expect detailed cleaning. Do note that the hotel is located right above a popular restaurant, which one will need to climb one level of stairs to access the lift. So take note if it's inconvenient for your group. Room seems to be newly renovated (within last 2 - 3 years?). Compact and functional room - do get a room with window. Runs on an internal aircon unit which you can control the settings (works for me), but a lot of mold was spotted on the vent which I took it upon myself to clean it. Floor was laminated with vinyl which works for me as well, as no carpets = much lesser trapped whatever you don't want to know. However the floor was pretty hollow, and the acoustic was pretty bad. Could hear your neighbours too. The bathroom was pretty big sized relative to the room size, and comes with hot water. However, there's no enclosure for the shower area (which can be easily be fixed up) - which you will get a wet bathroom at the end of a shower. 1 night is good, 2 nights is starting to strain, 3 nights is the max for me.

Only 2 minor notices: 1. There's only 1 mirror in the rest room, thus it's inconvenient to dry & style your hair in there. 2. No safe-box The rest is fantastic, from friendly staff, excellent location to clean facility. In addition to that, they also offer free water, coffee & instant noodle.

This hotel is situation about a 6 minute walk from Xiemen station, which is easily navigable and convenient - even with luggage. The area around the station has been called the "Harajuku of Taipei" (and I would agree with that); as soon as you levae the hotel, you are in the thick of it. It is a safe area and although it is quite noisy throughout the day just outside the hotel, it is surprisingly quiet at night and it is an easy place to rest. The only complaint I have about noise is that the other guests didn't always adhere to the "no talking" signs right outside of the key-activated door to the room hallway. The amenities are wonderful - two free bottles of water a day; I believe there was a kettle in my room; full set of toiletries (comb, toothpaste, toothbrush) refreshed every day by cleaning staff; a desk for working and a nice view to boot (I reserved a window room); a travel adaptor plugged into one of the electrical sockets; a hair dryer; free candy, water, coffee, and cup noodles by reception; and two choices for breakfast - KFC nearly next door or buffet style a short walk away at the nearby sister hotel branch (I recommend KFC for the convenience and the novelty of the breakfast menu - I had iced jasmine tea one day and have never seen anything like that on a Western fast food menu). The staff are lovely - you are given a food map of the area around the hotel on arrival, and a subway map as well, both of which I used a few times during my stay to find fun places to go. Jane, one of the receptionists, also gave me great recommendations of places to find good local food. She also answered my questions about the Taipei subway and train times for getting back to the airport. Overall, I was very pleased with my stay here. I didn't have any expectations when I first arrived, but I already know I'll be coming back for the clean rooms and friendly staff.

the location is just awesome as the ximen metro station is just a short walk away. the entrance to the hotel is located along xining street. climb up a stairs located right beside a family mart convenience store and on the second level take an elevator up to the third level hotel lobby. not too convenient but the positive outweighs that. friendly and very courteous front desk. rooms are small but clean, modern and comfortable. soft bed and pillows. bottled water replenished daily. small fridge and 40 inch tv. free breakfast was at kfc which is a about a hundred meters away. the hotel building is along xining corner emei street which is mart of the ximen walker(the name given to streets closed to traffic to give way to pedestrian shoppers). in effect, the hotel is right within the ximending night market.

The location was great - smack in the middle of downtown shopping Taipei and close to the subway. The rooms are super tiny - be aware, but beds confortable and rooms very clean. Staff spoke almost no English, but was very acccomodating and very very nice. When we got to our room there was a vibration humming from some machine outside and they upgraded us to a much quieter room. Very appreciated. The breakfast was at KFC (!) but we are vegetarian and they gave us cupons to go and have breakfast at a nearby hotel branch. Also appreciated and several veggie options. At night, in front of the cinema / parking lot there are great food street vendors. They change through the night so you can try different things every day.

This is the perfect stay for shopping fanatics, very close to the XiMen MRT Station, and excellently located at the centre of insanity. The area is completely silent in the morning but turns into a town of shopping "vampires" when the sun begins to set and that includes me ;) It is so strategic that anytime you felt like taking a leak, just drop by your own room, unload your loots, enjoy a can of beer, shower and return to the streets to loot more of your favourite items. Let's get back to the basics, when you exit the XiMen Station, just head straight to the centre of the shopping haven, passing by H&M on your left, once you reached a junction at the centre, turn left, and walk about 1-2 mins, u will reached another junction. Right here, just turn left and the hotel is just on your left, just next to a Family Mart. Yes, speaking about convenience, there you go. Your store of daily supplies is just below your hotel. Oh and if you are a coffee person like me, forget about Starbucks, the Americanos from Family Mart is as good as those from Starbucks and its way cheaper ;) Once you reached the hotel, there is a short stairway you will need to climb to access a lift to the hotel. For those with heavy luggages, fret not bcoz the location and cleanliness is well worth the small climb. But if you have loads of luggages and it's simply impossible to carry it up do not worry because there is another branch nearby that you can access with a lift at the ground floor, but it's about 8-10mins walk in a different area, not so strategic but close. The name is also E-Hotel, which even for those who are staying here, you will need to get to this hotel in the morning for breakfast. Strange yes, but we were offered 2 options- one is breakfast at the KFC just a few steps away or buffet breakfast at the other branch 8-10 mins walk. We chose the breakfast at the other branch, not really a fan of KFC anyway ;) Once you've climbed the short stairway (trust me I've experienced longer stairways, this is ok). You are just right in front of the lift, there is a BBQ restaurant just on your left so food is in ample supply. Enter the lift and press 3 to reach the hotel. When we reached the hotel lobby, a smiling receptionist was there to greet us with the usual Taiwanese hospitality, check in process was smooth, and there is a luggage storage area just next to the reception. Convenient if you were to arrived early, just leave it there. We collected the keys to our room, head straight to it, and found an extremely clean room and a very spacious bathroom (thank god!). About the bathroom, some may consider it as strange because it doesn't have a separate shower area or cubicles like some hotels, its just a square room with everything inside. But without the cubicles, it feels very spacious. After your shower, the floors may get wet but its a toilet anyway, I loved it for the space and cleanliness, That's more important. The bed is comfortable, comes with a working table and a chair, and a small fridge. We took the room without the windows hence noises are almost non existent. So glad! This is important if you are staying at the centre of a crazy place like XiMen. The room is not huge but it's not too small either. Maybe an average space. But we had perfectly nice sleep at the end of a tiring day. So this hotel will be a place we would be back again and again and again.

E-House 155/Xining Branch was definitely a great value for Ximending, also known as Taipei's youth shopping district because of all the trendy shops and restaurants found here. From western retailers like H&M to local foodie haunt Ay-Chung Flour-Rice Noodle, they're all here. And this hotel was just a leisurely walk from all these, as well as the Ximen MRT station (green line). You can also connect to the Blue Line at this station which makes it all the more convenient. I chose this hotel because of their 24-hr front desk and luggage storage. Their services came in handy as we came in on an early flight and left Taipei on a late flight. We had no issues leaving our luggage there and they were happy to keep them for us. Ximending mostly has hostels and I'm glad I found this one which had its own bathroom. However, our room didn't have any windows which can be a problem if you're not aware of the time and are prone to oversleeping! Thankfully we didn't have that problem. The hotel provides free breakfast in the form of breakfast vouchers to KFC just a stone's throw away from the hotel. You can only get the puff pastry sandwich and a drink but that wasn't a big deal to us. In the lobby of the hotel, they have water and a coffee machine for those on the go. I love that they replace toiletries and personal implements every day, fix the bed and clean the bathroom. Also appreciate the open closet, mini-fridge, hair dryer, efficient AC and the TV although there was only one channel in English :( They didn't even have CNN. We stayed in Room 306 just right behind the front desk. This room doesn't have a window. But we had a quiet, comfortable stay. Staff has always been helpful and courteous, especially the kindly guy who goes on duty at nights. They even booked us at the Starbucks in Taipei 101 when I requested via email before our arrival. Too bad we didn't get to go though, and they even asked me if we went. Anyways, I would book here again, but next time I'll get a room with a window.
