We were doing a round robin style trip in SE Asia. Taiwan, Vietnam,Cambodia and Laos. We spenttimein Taipei at the start of the trip. Soon the waybackwe were landing around11PM but had to check in at 4 PM the next day. Instead going into Taipei we checked on line for a room closer to the airport in Tauyuan. Saw 168 Green Motel and took a chance. We did miss a flight and there are no refunds plus couldn't contact the hotel. So we rebooked for another day. So after a long day of 3 connecting flights we get a cab at 11 PM to take us to hotel. Cost us 470 New Taiwan Dollars, he took freeway, next day a cab took back streets and only cost 360 NTD. Anyway the place was a bit odd at first as reception is like a drive through kiosk. We got room 209. Now once researching a driving trip through Central AmericaI was recommended these motels for lovers that rent by the hour. There is a garage that you park in and no one can see your car and it is secure. From the garage you enter your room. Told 8 hours usually ran cheaper than a hotel. So here we had amenable garage door that opened automatically probably by the key card. We go upstairs to the second level room. What's pleasant surprise. Big king bed, love seat, table with two chairs, longwalldesk with chair and computer. Wall mounted TV. Kettle with coffee tea and two snacks. All the amenities; razor, combo hair brush/ comb, tooth brushes with tooth paste, shower cap, bar soap, wall mounted dispenser with shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. Great shower with rain forest head and hand held nozzle. Also a deep bathtub. Only two bottles of water. It was a very modern looking set up that we liked. Next morning saw a unit stating free laundry, breakfast was upstairs in unit 2. I just took. What washout but later say you could also order items. Magazines and newspapers out but onlyMandarin editions. Now since this is not really a tourist area finding someone to speak English or understand was hard. Cab driver had to make hand signs of an airplane taking off to confirm we wanted to go to airport. Cost us $50 US. Overall we were both pleasantly surprised and would stay there if on a lay over again.…
I selected 168 Green Motel because of its proximity to the airport. The location was further from the airport than I expected. I have no idea whether the taxi brought us to the longer route. Taxi fare was about NTD400. First impression was good. The staff at the entrance completed the check-in procedure (including photo-copying of passports, issuance of keys & explanation) with one minute and we were in the taxi! We dropped off at the garage. Room was at level 2. We were pleasantly surprise by the spacious stairway, tastefully decorated room with wall painted in apple-green. Besides the usual furniture, there was a neat magazine rack mounted to the wall with 4 to 5 different types of life-style magazines. The bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was huge with a choice of shower and bath-tub. Breakfast was Taiwanese-style with white porridge, local dishes and pickled vegetables - delicious.…
