Booked a room which cost me $250 USD a night. What I was assigned was perhaps the worse room in the entire hotel. I got the room right next to the elevators so heard people constantly passing me by AND I look out the big windows and see the building right across from me (about 10 meters away) also with big windows. They can look directly into my room. I had to keep my curtains closed at all times with the sheer 100% closed and the actual curtains 50% closed for privacy. Defeats the purpose of having a hotel room with big windows. To look out the window, because the room was so small, I had to climb over the ottoman sofa thing which isn't nice. The bathroom towels were heavily textured so it appears very rough. The restaurant was also poor. Sautéed spinach ended up being poached spinach. Service was also lacking. For $250 a night, I should have had a much better experience. Breakfast was also very sad. The room itself was nice and large but the options were lacking. A basic Holiday Inn would have more options. They displayed 10 boxes of cereal was the main attraction dotted with Mr Potato Heads which was weird. Their pancakes were silver dollar sized only and very super flat and started being made at 7:16 when breakfast started at 7am. No butter also! Only honey and jam and also had no serving tongs for the pancakes. The cook used his hands to serve me the pancakes (with gloves). Stay away from this hotel unless you pay up the nose for an actual room.

Dear Ray C, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience in Renaissance Taipei Shihlin Hotel. It is regrettable that the space and layout of our rooms was not to your expectations. We sincerely apologize for all that transpired during the course of your stay. It is also regretful that our food offerings at the restaurant fell short of your expectations. I will share this feedback to the person in charge and work together with the Chef and review our spread to best suit our guest’s palate.

As the typical Renaissance hotel, this hotel is located in Shihlin and all is good. The service and the staff are good, and the decoration is elegant. Have stayed here many times and quite enjoy the stay here.

I was there for celebrate friend B'day as she needs to get away as one night. As one of closed friends as me, arranged it and she was happy and felt excellent stay. Especially the pool that she love it. Staffs are friendly as well. But the pity thing is Breakfast, we understand due to COVID that change as set menu but we can't choose any cuisine of it, like Chinese, America or Japanese. All service as Chinese cuisine in the early morning, it kind of too rich for both of us. Some customers, just need a bread with eggs, salad is enough for the morning meal.

A brand new hotel. Near by the Chiang Kai-Shek Shilin Residence and Park. Six minutes walk from exit 2 of the MRT Shilin station. Ten minutes walk to the Shilin night market, and streets with lots of restaurants and retail shops. Room is comfortable, immaculately clean, tidy, and well equipped. Breakfast buffet is good. Staff are professional, friendly, helpful and efficient. This is an excellent hotel. I would certainly stay here again next time I'm in the area. I had a city view room. Looked out at the window only saw the opposite buildings. Booking a hillside view room is highly recommended. It will face the Chiang Kai-Shek Shilin Residence Park. The window view must be better.

I was there to do my end of year mattress run. I had great impression of them before I arrived and it was my first ever Renaissance stay. I received an email from their club lounge prior my stay asking if I had any requests. I asked for extra water and a humidifier, and they came back informing that no humidifier in the hotel but they would provide extra bottles of water. Upon arrival, the front desk was busy with check in and the whole process took awhile. This Renaissance is relatively brighter than the other ones I visited previously, and it wasn’t as hip. Side note, on the Marriott branch of Marriott International, Renaissance ranks second in line after JW Marriott. The room was relatively small, and they don’t usually upgrade to suite if this is important to you. The room was brightly lit with floor to ceiling windows. A instagrammable view where everyone takes photo there. I did not find the extra bottles of water as they had promised, well housekeeping was just a call away. The Sally@ lounge was attentive and friendly, with a slight movement she would be by your side asking if you need help. Breakfast was a wide spread but everything was 1/4 fill, it was understandable since the occupancy rate was low. All in all it’s a fairly new and nicely renovated hotel, but I might not go back for a second stay.

The Good's: Staffs - Well trained with tepid civility. Location - close to MRT Shilin station (6 min walk) with a sense of nature with view to Yangming Mt. and Shilin Residence. Restaurant - Breakfast buffet is good with wide variety of choice. Not So-Good's: We were informed they ran out of all baby amenities (cribs, bath tub) and told during check-in no kid's shampoo and show gel and should share adult's because it's all nature (but it's not from ingredient list) - there might have been a baby's carnival, or the hotel is not for family with babies or toddlers.

Better than I except! There are bad comments on the internet, but I really want to try the great view of Renaissance Taipei, and it didn’t disappointed me.Also, the food in lounge is the best I ever try(I mean the best happy hour of all the Marriott in Taipei). And I really like the style of their kitchen which offer the breakfast (just like the picture) And the best Benedict in town ,too!!! Not to mention that it’s close to night market.

The major highlight of this hotel is the infinity pool, and I reckon it's the primary reason for travelers to choose this hotel instead of others. Although the hotel did post pool closure notice in advance, I would recommend the hotel to provide any form of coupons or vouchers for travelers to stay at the closure date to have certain degrees of compensation, especially the closure was meant for a private event instead of maintenance. When we arrived, we were greeted by one of the receptionists, and then the other two receptionists came to help with the check-in process altogether, making it smooth and efficient. This seldom happened particularly in Taiwan as most of the time other receptionists just leave the premises without providing assistance. We stayed in the Deluxe room, which was not very large, but the decor was subtle and beautiful with a certain degree of artistic vibe. Drinks and snacks in the minibar were all complimentary due to the payment was made with government vouchers. The room itself was clean and tidy, and everything including the bathroom was well-maintained. The only thing we have complained about was the water pressure being not strong enough compared to other similar level hotels. I did like the vibe of the Shihlin Kitchen, the place for enjoying the breakfast. There were numerous dishes to choose from, ranging from Chinese traditional breakfast like congee and fried donuts to Western styles. Most of the food was delicious and diversified. The price is NT$880 per person and it's somewhat a little bit pricy if the breakfast is not included in the accommodation package. The infinity pool is situated on the roof floor and it's amazingly great and wonderful. The water was clear and clean, and there were numerous spots in the pool for perfect photoshoot opportunities. This is a must-visit facility if you visit Renaissance Shihlin. The gym and the sauna room are all great and perfectly designed for you to enjoy the mountain views while sweating. Overall, we did experience a terrific 2-night stay at Renaissance Shihlin and there were no obvious flaws or issues during our stay. With some minor details being attended to, I believe Renaissance Shihlin can be one of the better accommodation choices in Tapei, even in Taiwan.

Check in當天約晚上20:20接到電話詢問何時會去check in, 因為bar的last order到22:00.

This hotel is located at a very historical area and very good to explore ROC's culture and history. A very quiet and decent place for renaissance hotel which represents elegant style. The service is fairly good and all the staff is polite and helpful, good training. The swimming pool and the roof scenery is impressive and tranquil, you can really enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. The breakfast is good but the lounge is needed to be improved for the food selection. For TV programs, it is the biggest flaw needed to be improved, there is very few (actually zero) channel you can watch.....Pretty bad!
