This was the fourth time we had stayed at Chateau. It's always a lovely experience. The staff are friendly and efficient, and the rooms are nice. My only complaint is that it is getting a little bit dated. It's not a five star resort. The rooms have had a bit of a facelift, but the whole place could do with a renovation. In saying that, I'd still stay there again. It's lovely having the pools and private beach.

The good: This hotel has a great set up right on a beautiful beach: umbrellas, hammocks, swings, totally idyllic. The bad: There is an enormous variance in room quality so don’t bother checking their website because you’ll only find the best rooms pictured there. The “mountain view” rooms on the ground floor are directly on a parking lot and have zero privacy when the curtains are open. The family room was not especially large or well-suited for families. The rooms were old and run down. They did not have basic conveniences, like a clothes line or adequate outlets. Some of the furniture was cracked or dented (and not in a charming antique way). The halls smelled of smoke and mildew. Generally dingy. The hotel had a lot of inconvenient policies, like requiring patrons to present tickets for the use of towels by the pool, then making you return the towels at the pool, so you have to go back to your room wet (and cold in the air conditioning). They also have some nice amenities, like a kids play center, but they charge extra for them, which is shocking considering how expensive the place was. You have to present tickets for meals, and each ticket is assigned a specific day and a specific meal, which is just generally a hassle to deal with. There seems to be a general concern that you, the guest, are trying to rip them off.

So we (2 adults + a 1 yr old infant) stayed at the "Provence Hall Standard Double Room - Mountain View" (Parking lot view to be exact) in mid-July 2020 for 2 nights. We had both good and bad experiences but the bad part overshadows and here they are: Good Experiences: - The hotel has its own beach - The hotel offers a bunch of activities you can sign up for all through the day. We joined the "sand crab watching" at night, the staffs were very kind and professional. We can tell all the kids loved this activity. - Staff numbers are quite enough for this multi-pool hotel Bad Experiences: - The air-con started dripping water since the first night thru the ceiling. We called the maintenance and their solution was to wipe the ceiling dry and put a towel on the floor right below, because they could not guarantee if it would keep dripping again. Unfortunately it's dripping right at the middle of the room, not to mentioned how annoying it is, we also had to worry about our kid who just learned how to walk not to slip because of it. The hotel did not offer a room change at all, and the best they could do was the towel on the floor. - The exact room was very old fashioned considered the price we pay, and it has somewhat a smell to it. There were also water stains here and there especially in the bathroom. - The hotel offers buffet breakfast in the morning. There are quite a few choices, but overall the taste is definitely below average.

For our honeymoon my wife booked us a 6-night stay here. Let me just say I highly recommend staying here if you want a peaceful and relaxing stay on south Taiwan. All the staff are super friendly and the hotel is super clean. There are several restaurants you can dine at and also some cafes. When you arrive they will give you vouchers for discounts at these places. The rooms are really nice and the beach is your back door. The staff clean the rooms everyday and restock all the supplies so for a tip, use the supplies and put them in your backpack for later and you will get more everyday. In the back of the resort you have a nice swimming area for kids and adults. A workout area, mostly treadmills and cardio equipment. There is also a spa area and it was my favorite place to hang out. Another tip is to try every single jet in the spa pool because they all worked really well. The lifeguards are friendly and helpful. There's a putt putt golf course, paddle boarding, surfboards, kayaks, and several other things available to do. Also, you're right down the road from downtown kenting so make sure to go to the Night Market. It's really fun and there's lots of good food and shops there. It's a must do!
