Hotel Bahía del Sol offers a picturesque beachfront location that garners acclaim for its stunning sunsets and tranquil vibe, making it a favorite for guests seeking serenity. Though the hotel's value is debated, with some finding it reasonable and others questioning the cost-to-quality ratio, its amenities like beach access and breakfast are often highlighted positively.
The spacious rooms receive mixed feedback due to concerns over cleanliness and noise, yet many guests find them comfortable. While the service is generally commended for its friendliness, there are occasional calls for improved efficiency and attentiveness.

This hotel is perfect for families. We were in a super spacious and comfortable room. The beds with enough pillows and clean, good quality bedding. The pool is a good size and is very close to the sea. The hotel is small and we loved that because it allowed us to go to the beach, the restaurant, the pool and the parking lot without having to travel long distances or take additional transportation. The reception staff was very friendly and willing to help with whatever we needed. The restaurant chef was very helpful and attentive 😊 and the food at the place was delicious! The price is high but just like the surrounding places. The restaurant and pool bar staff were mostly attentive and friendly, there were just a couple of exceptions. The only recommendations we could make would be to improve the cleanliness of the room's balconies, the lock on the glass door because it was a bit cumbersome to open and close, and take care of some paint details that are seen when going out to the balconies. But none of that overshadows the wonderful experience we had during our stay. We will be back soon!

My husband and I spent 4 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed our time.
Room: the room size and amenities are good. Minibar prices are high as expected. Fortunately there is a convenience store a few minutes walk away. The AC worked great! The closet provided was quite spacious.
The bathroom was huge! Our hot water stopped working the first night and the staff got it fixed right away. Like many places in Costa Rica, you cannot flush your toilet paper, so a foot-pedal trash can is provided. Bathroom amenities were nice including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap and hand lotion. You could hear some carry-over noise from the neighboring room through the bathroom but that was about it. It can get VERY steamy in the bathroom so keeping the doors closed is a good idea so the main room doesn't get too stuffy. There are lots of windows (privacy frosted) in the bathroom. The arrangement of the room, bathroom, doors and darkening curtains with the doors is a bit weird, but definitely workable.
Restaurants: The main restaurant provides a breakfast buffet every morning. The open-air dining room overlooks the lawn and beach area and is a beautiful place to eat! The breakfast buffet was fine - never had anything bad, and the maduros were always on point. We ate our lunches/dinners outside of the resort.
Amenities: sadly, the pool was not kept up well. There was always a lot of sediment at the bottom and leaves/debris floating on the surface. I mentioned this to the front desk and that didn't go anywhere. In 4 days I never once saw someone skimming the pool. It's too bad because it is lovely and has a swim-up bar.
Beach and lawn: The view is just gorgeous. There are lots of loungers and Adirondack chairs. Space under umbrellas or the trees are limited, so if you want a guaranteed spot, you should try to get out earlier. The beach is lovely, with nice temperature and mild waves during our stay. Sunsets are AMAZING!
General notes: The grounds are directly adjacent to other properties, so you a literally a few minutes walk from many amenities. There are many great local restaurants including Hemingway's and Tandoor. The staff is generally very friendly. Some do not speak great English, so learning and speaking Spanish is not only respectful, but also very helpful!

We stayed here for 5 nights at the end of our tour and found it very nice to relax. The complex is well maintained, the buildings are not brand new at second glance, but otherwise still well "in shape" and clean with attentive staff. Have also eaten there once, not quite cheap (as mean in CR!), but quite good. There are also restaurants in the area. The complex is located directly on a long, clean beach with dark sand, sometimes - depending on the weather outside - even with beautiful waves, only on Sundays there is a little more going on. There are more loungers than requirements and they are often occupied by early risers, unfortunately the hotel does not care about it, even if it is explicitly stated on the towel cards (reservation should supposedly be cancelled after 60 minutes). In the bay there are many pelicans, a great spectacle when they dive for fish, great! The water is pleasantly tempered. Breakfast has some air up, but we were getting fed up, was still okay.

I went to celebrate my engagement and spoil ourselves with a nice hotel for the end of our trip. instead we got served hot dogs as sausages for breakfast, were completely ignored by the staff. The rooms are not clean, glasses were still sticky with previous drinks of other customers. The property has dirty dishes throughout, not cleaned for 24h + by the staff. Housekeeping does not respect the "do not disturb" signs and the beach chairs have stained, smelly cushions that are never cleaned. There was a wasp nest that fell beside the pool, multiple people (including children) were stung, we informed the front desk and it still remained hours later until we made a more serious complaint. The soap in the restaurant bathroom was empty the day we arrived and never refilled during our stay. It costs double what we paid for every other location ( 7 in total) and wasn't worth half. I would never go back, I would never recommend. The photo attached is of the wasp nest that still remained when we came back from dinner ( everyone leaves, the restaurant and food is horrible). We had informed the front desk when it happened, hours before when we left to eat.

We enjoyed our stay and I would recommend this cute boutique hotel if it fits what you are looking for. Don’t expect luxury accommodations. Do expect a cute spot on the beach for a reasonable price. Agree with other reviewers who said there is not a great deal to do, but it’s a good spot for some relaxation time. Despite being high season, we never had trouble finding deck chairs in the shade under a big beautiful tree. Although the beach is dark sand, it was the only beach in CR we visited that did not have bits of litter here and there. After travelling to Playa Conchal which some claim is nicer because of the white sand, we preferred to beach at the hotel because there was no debris floating in the water (this is something that really grosses me out, personally). Waves were big enough to be fun for my teens without feeling dangerous. In fact playing in the waves here was my daughter’s favourite part of the trip. We could keep an eye on her from our deck chairs. Our family enjoyed the included breakfast. We did not eat at the restaurant for lunch or dinner. We ate at Lorita and loved it so much we just kept returning there for dinner.

The resort was extremely comfortable and had a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere. All of the staff was extremely friendly and personable. They were all very patient and encouraging when a non Spanish speaker worked on speaking Spanish. The grounds were well kept and there were many places to sit and lounge. The rooms were cleaned daily however there were some inconsistencies in in what towels would be replenished. Overall it was a lovely resort and we would not hesitate to go back on another trip.

We enjoyed our stay. We were in a junior suite and enjoyed sleeping in a bedroom with the kids in the spacious bunk beds. We loved the beach and pool. It was a great jumping off point for other beaches, and the beach here was great too. They had free yoga and evening activities. It is walking distance from a great brewery and small grocery store. The free breakfast is good too!
A few things to note: there are bars nearby that were very loud late into night. I needed earplugs and a sound machine. The power flickered a few times- not their fault! And they are a bit stingy with the pool towels, which is an exchange system. If you lose your towel exchange card, it's $20 per card or towel. There were skunks on property (we saw them) and one night they sprayed near our place and it really stunk. Also, it's a dog- friendly hotel, which we didn't mind, but could be off putting to some folks. The live music at night is LOUD on the property, so if you are hoping for the soft sound of crashing waves, this isn't it.
But the sunsets were incredible.

The complex is very beautiful, well-kept and looks great. The direct beach access (no loungers) is ideal and the beach is clean. What bothered us most was that there were too few loungers and even fewer parasols in the complex. Although reserving loungers is not permitted, the loungers were already occupied with beach towels early in the morning. When we asked for more loungers, we were given a pseudo lounger (fabric with a headrest for the floor). The menu was partly incorrectly translated. In some cases you didn't get what was written on it. The staff were friendly and the rooms were good and clean. If there had been enough loungers, we would rate the hotel a lot higher, but as it was, it was a constant "fight" and you don't want to get up at 6 a.m. on vacation to get a lounger.

Some of the staff are marvelous, Paco the bartender in particular seems to have a genuine passion for his job and conveys sincerity towards how the guests at the hotel are enjoying their stay. On the other had there are useless morons working there also who take bookings for spa treatments WHEN THE SPA IS CLOSED! that being said the spa does not appear to be much more than a glass hut with a shower en-closer outside, meanwhile the locals will provide a 60 mins massage ion the beach for $40. The food is very good and although expensive at first glance its is good value compared to other local options including the offerings at the near by mercardo. our room was modest but reasonable appointed be aware that a double room is a twin not a queen size bed, and the bathroom is a little musty. On the Whole this is a nice place and I would recommend it but probably not for a long stay.
