Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
Wyndham Grand Phuket Kalim Bay has earned commendation for its cleanliness, with guests frequently mentioning the well-maintained rooms and grounds, although a few have noted some bathroom maintenance concerns. The hotel's service is generally applauded for its friendly and professional staff, though there have been occasional mentions of slow service. The amenities, including private pools and the shuttle service, are popular among travelers, despite some reports of maintenance issues. While the value of the shuttle and happy hour offerings is recognized, the room rates and additional charges have raised questions for some guests.
The hotel's location is a highlight, with its proximity to beaches and Patong, coupled with scenic ocean views from its hilltop vantage point. The luxurious rooms with their private pools and ocean vistas receive praise, but some guests have pointed out maintenance issues and have found the access to rooms inconvenient. Overall, the hotel is celebrated for its romantic atmosphere and scenic location.

Detailed Reviews
My wife and I spent 3 days of our honeymoon at the Wyndham Grand in Phuket. We had a private pool suite. Our contact at the hotel was Alex, the executive assistant manager. He made sure we had a great stay! Upon arrival, our room was decorated with flower petals on the bed and wine with light snacks waiting for us on the table. The breakfast at the hotel was great with an omelet bar, wide selection of fruits that changed daily, breads, curries, fried rice, bacon, sausages, coffee, juices, etc. Views overlooking the water at breakfast were beautiful! Getting around the hotel can be a bit bothersome as you have to wait for their cars to pick you up, but they are generally quick about it. 50 BHT/person for the hourly shuttle into town beats a 400-700BHT taxi. Takes about 10 minutes by car to get to center of Patong.

I was initially sceptical which hotel to book as I wanted the best accommodation preferably kind of pool suite, peaceful and yet at a safe location for drive in and out and not too far from Patong and other locations.
I liked the images of the pool villa and incidentally I came across review of Grateful143 and her description of how the staff at the hotel helped her while she had some medical issues. That made me confident and I booked for 2 nights as planned.
On the day of checkout, I didn’t want to leave my suite. Talked with receptionist and she helped me to extend my stay for another two nights. Wanted to extend again next time but that time hotel was 100% full.
Hotel location is very good and view is great.
Pool suites offer a lot of privacy. Balcony is pretty big.
Breakfast is good offering good variety and some juices ( fresh) too.
Views from the restaurant are breathtaking.
Service staff is excellent.
Hourly van service is available @50 baht per way for hotel to Central/ Jung Ceylon shopping mall in Patong.
It’s a perfect hotel, great clean accomodation offering good view of the ocean, good breakfast and great staff.
I felt very comfortable and happy during my stay.
I must thank GM Dominic, reception staff Ms Bank and all others, restaurant staff and housekeeping ... you all are great people.
In my view, Wyndham Grand Phuket is a perfect hotel as the hotel not only has to offer great accomodation, good food and nice service but it also has to make the guests feel safe and help them in the time of need. Wyndham Kalim Phuket offered all of those and it will always remain to be my favourite hotel to stay whenever I visit Phuket.

Dear "Surender-India" What a beneficial and beautiful review of our team and our Wyndham Grand Phuket Kalim Bay resort. We hear this often that our guest just wonna stay on and unfortunately with the demand for the pool villa's and pool suites this is not always possible but leave the beautiful memory and hopefully we can see you soon again. Thank you for sharing our great location, close to Patong and Kamala but far enough away from the noise. Great rooms with privacy and enjoying the balcony and the own pool. The views from the different area's within the resort are amazing and the sunset from Infiniti and/or latitude 98 restaurant are hard to beat. We look forward to have you with us soon again. Sincere regards Dominic dominic.egger@wyn.com

This hotel knows how to offer best in class guest experiences from easy check in process to clean, beautifully designed and decorated rooms.
I recommend a Ocean View Pool room. The pool is private, clean, deep and has a seat with 2 spa jets!
Complimentary water is plentiful. The breakfast Buffett is good, rotating offers over the duration of our stay.
This is how you do 5 Star unlike other hotels in the area who claim 5 star but are more lime 3-4 stars.
Do your research when considering Phuket, you can get some great packages.
Would I stay at Wyndham Grand again or recommend? YES... in a heartbeat

This is a 5 star hotel, with 5 star prices. Unfortunately, the service and room is no where near 5 stars. We had a Pool Suite for 4 nights. They do offer a nice mobile app that allows you to order room service, look at hotel maps etc. However, push notifications from the app are constantly trying to sell you things. Not to mention it has a 2 bottle water request limit. This is a joke for 3 people staying in a hot country where you cannot drink tap water.
While it is nice the hotel is out of town a bit, it also means paying close to 40$ USD for a round trip taxi. Due to a narrow winding road nothing is within walking distance. The hotel is also spread out on a large hill. To walk from the bottom lobby to our room towards the top of the property it takes 2 different evevators and about 10 minutes walking uphill. This didn't bother us much, but it may be worth mentioning for others. There is an option to wait and have the hotel shuttle take you around the property as well.
Even for a tourist area this places prices are insane. A room service club sandwich runs about $17 USD. The large, yet below average breakfast buffet runs about 20$ USD per person. As mentioned above, nothing is walkable, so I suggest installing Food Panda for food delivery while staying here if you will not be doing all your meals in town.
Pros-
Outside of central Patong (quiet, less traffic etc)
Pool is private and perfect temperature
Amazing views
Cons-
Acrylic nails from previous resident on side of pool
Dirty pool
Broken tiles around and in pool
Sloppy Workmanship in bathroom
Door to room has a gap so multiple bugs have made their way in
Tried to sell timeshare after checking in (to their credit they accepted our first "no" and didn't ask again.)
Shuttle to town requires 5 hour RSVP and costs 100 baht per person for round trip
Air conditioners thermometer is broke. It is stuck on 25 C so you have to run it until you get cold and then turn it off until it gets warm again.
If we were going to redo this portion of our trip we would avoid the Patong area all together. That being said, no matter where this hotel was located we would not be back, even for half the cost.

Dear "Taylor S" Greetings from Wyndham Grand Phuket Kalim Bay and thank you for your stay with us. We love that we are close Patong and/or Kamala by but far enough away from the noise, nicely built on the hill of Kalim. Beautiful to relax and recharge. We have the hourly shuttle service to Central Patong and Patong Beach, from 10am to 8pm, surprised to hear that you had to book 5 hours in advance. Since we have started charging the THB 50 per seat per way we are allocating additional bus if required (fair enough that is not possible 2 minutes before departure...). A Tucktuk back from Patong is THB 300 which is approx 10US$. Each Pool Suite has 4x 500ml water bottles daily stocked and additional water can be requested on the app or with our team. Water stations are at both at the Deck and Thabtim pools with free water available too, same in our Gym. Besides the Deck Pool and Bar, Thabtime Café, Infiniti bar with beauitiful sunsets and our latitude 98 terrace there are in walking distance several restaurants. Just across the road is the UZenmaya hotel with 2 outlets. Then to the right is a Thai local restaurant and slightly up to the left is the Mexican Salsa (which has great Thai cuisine) and Paradise View Point Restaurant. Further along there is Baan Rim Pa with Royal Thai cuisine all in walking distance. Disappointed to hear on the room condition and we will follow up with our engineer team. on the points mentioned and in future please address any shortfall direct at the property to enable a great stay. Sincere regards Dominic

The hotel is about 15 min drive away from busy patong beach. The only way to go to patong beach is the hourly shuttle service (50 baht per person) which runs until 20:00 or by taxi (about 400 baht). There was no motorbike rental availble from the hotel.
Although the rooms were spacious and view is nice, it seems already a bit aged. Beds are comfortable and rooms are clean. However, the pools couldve been cleaner. The gutter in the bathroom had a bad smell. Breakfast is available until 10:30 only.
The hotel uses an app (handigo) for ordering taxis, roomservice, massages etc. however a lot of times it required calling because 1 hr after ordering additional items it was still not in the room.
Free water upon request.
Staff is incredibly friendly and try to help whereever they can. Miss Bank even took my dress home to her mother to have it stitched together again.
We paid about 350 usd per night (pool view villa and ocean view pool villa the second night)

Dear "Fani M" It is always great to hear that the team has done the most for our guest and appreciate your recognition for Khun Bank which went out of her way to have your dress stitched together. I will recognize her accordingly delivering personal and memorable service delivery. Our resort is beautiful nestled on the hills of Kalim just outside of Patong, overlooking the Andaman Sea and Patong Bay. We have amazing view points from the many different locations in our resort. The beauty with our resort is that we are close to visit Patong or Kamala 10 - 15 minutes either direction but far enough away from the noise to relax and recharge. When you would like to go and explore, our shuttle service is from 10am to 8pm every hour to Patong. Booking in advance recommended and a ticket is THB 50 per seat per way. In case you missed it or come back later a tuk tuk is Thb 300 from Patong to our hotel. We do not rent out motorbikes but Patong has several shops renting them out. We look forward to have you with us soon again. Sincere regards Dominic

After a never ending check in (30 minutes of waiting, 8 guests in the reception and 2 hotel staff available at the front desk) we finally were taken to our room which was the pool suite with garden view.
Since the room was poorly located, dark and with extremely laud neighbors playing constant music and smoking next door we decided to upgrade to a sea view pool suite.
Quickly we have regretted our decision as the simple process of changing rooms was clearly too complicated for the hotel staff. After 3 phone calls to the reception a price of 1500 Baht was requested for the upgrade, we agreed.
It took another 1 h for the hotel to send a driver and show us the second room. The sea view pool suite was nothing close to a sea view. I am attaching a picture for reference. We have communicated straight away that this is unacceptable and requested a different room and once again we were sent to the reception at the bottom of the hill of the resort. We saw a couple that was checking same time with us which was also changing the room.
After another trip to reception and wasting even more time the receptionist seemed confused about our request. At this point she seemed like she wasn’t even trained for her position. The car driver had more experience in customer care then her. She requested a completely different price (2700 Bart) for the room upgrade that was initially asked from us. It took us another 30 minutes for her to figure out the right price and another 15 minutes to wait for the driver who at the end didn’t come as no cars were available so we ended up walking to the room.
The over all process of checking in and getting a normal room took us 3h, currently we are in room no 3 with cold water in the bathroom as warm one is not working. Our luggage still wasn’t delivered to the room.
We have lost half of the day of our holiday for an activity that should take max 15 minutes also currently on a lock down in a room as we can’t change our clothes to go out.
I have no idea how this hotel works on daily basics since simple tasks are handled in the most hectic and difficult way. We feel drained and tired after this process and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a relaxed holiday experience.

Amazing accommodation. Brilliant buffet breakfast included as part of our room package. Incredibly friendly staff. Loved the private pool that was part of our room. Peaceful, tranquil, luxurious. An amazing experience, and all just a short trip on the resort shuttle bus to central Patong. A tip for travellers with flights departing late in the evening: You can leave your bags with the resort concierge, spend the day in town and then shower at the showers at the resort's pool (they provide free towels and locker keys at the pool reception) if you want to freshen up before your evening flight.

Returning to Thailand from abroad. We decided to do the Phuket Sand Box. We are so happy we haven chosen the Wyndham Grand Kalim Bay. First getting the required documents from the Resort (COE requirements) was incredibly easy working with the staff. Secondly paying for the required COVID testing during our stay before arrival (COE requirements) again exceptionally easy working with the resort/reservations staff to get this done. All of the staff from front desk, housekeeping, room service just simply beyond expectations. If your coming to Thailand for Sand Box entry into Thailand or just coming for a excellent resort to just chill and relax my highest recommendation for this resort. Let me not forget the shuttle drivers for pick at the airport and general transportation to and from Patong excellent service. The resort has this app you can download that makes communicating with resort staff so easy be it for a romantic floating breakfast or dinner in your private pool or to just ask for some extra water so convenient.

Dear Perry Appreciate your review and thank you for sharing your great stay you had with us during the "Sandbox" Phuket opening. Yes there are some extra hurdles with the certificate of entry application to get to Phuket but glad our team has enabled a seamless entry process. Our resort is just great to explore, close to everything, 10 minutes each way to Patong or Kamala. As well secluded enough to recharge and relax after a day exploring. The own pools are for sure a stand out with our resort. Having the breakfast at Latitude 98 terrace and getting sea breeze with vies over the Andaman sea or having a drink in the evening and enjoy the firing up of the sky at sunset. All the best on your onward journey and we look forward to have you back when you are on your way back to Phuket. Stay safe, stay healthy and stay active Sincere regards Dominic dominic.egger@wyn.com

We stayed here for 5 nights in July2023. We were expecting luxury at an American brand hotel; instead we got mediocre accommodations that did not match the room pictures. Instead of a light bright beautiful king bed room with ocean views, we were greeted by a dark, damp smelly room with peekaboo ocean views and mostly a view of trees and roofs. When I complained the staff tried to claim that’s “the way it is”. They finally moved me but only after I threatened to check out! But the move was to only a slightly better room one floor up with essentially the same “non-view” but more bright and less dank smelling. And they kept us waiting in limbo for the move, initially saying it would just be an hour but after 2 hours and several calls, I finally walked down to the front desk to move us ourselves. Only then did they provide bellman assistance and key to the new room. Also, if I didn’t like or accept the new room, I was told I was free to call my travel agent for further resolution! Really!? And to add insult to injury, when we were in the 1st room, a staff worker just opened our door while we were lying on the bed, no knock or anything! He immediately apologized and closed the door. REALLY!?! We prepaid for this room half a year ago, it’s our space, and this kind of intrusion is unacceptable.
And the food / drinks are overpriced here, walking distance nearby (very limited), and location is far from anyplace to get good cheap local food and services. Front desk is serviced by only TWO people for such a large property, and often only ONE person is serving, so there is often a wait of several minutes or more just to get simple requests or questions accommodated.
I am very disappointed by this property, especially at the price point charged here. I do not recommend staying here, you will be disappointed, especially if you are expecting a “Wyndham” level of hotel. This feels more like a local level hotel.

Dear Campfamily 50, We appreciate you sharing your feedback about your recent stay at our hotel. We apologize for any disappointment and inconveniences you experienced during your time with us. We apologize for the delay and inconvenience you faced during the room relocation process. We strive to provide efficient and attentive service, and we regret that we fell short of your expectations in this regard. Your feedback will be taken into consideration as we improve our processes to better serve our guests. We have two lobbies for check, Building A & B with 60 rooms is at the welcome lobby and the other 150 rooms with pools are at the Villa Lobby. Yes the photos on our website have been done on sunny day and are much brighter with sunlight, and the current rain season is making the rooms and the view more dull. We deeply regret the intrusion you experienced when a staff worker entered your room without proper notification. We apologize for this lapse in our protocols and assure you that has been addressed with our team to prevent any recurrence. Your comfort and privacy are of utmost importance to us, and we apologize for any discomfort caused. We regret that our food and drink pricing did not meet your expectations. In walking distance there are 4 restaurants and 3 bars. The first across the road is Zenmaya with Zeascape, direction Patong is Salsa Mexicana (which has great Thai food too), Viewpoint cafe and direction Kamala there is Rom Sai restaurant all in short walking distance. Besides the Freedom bar and two Reggae bars. And yes street food and cheap local food have a different price but that is not comparable to a hotel dining experience. Thank you for sharing your concerns and disappointment. We value your feedback, and it will be carefully reviewed as we strive to enhance our services and facilities. Should your future travels bring you back to the area, we hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a more satisfying experience. Sincere regards Dominic General Manager dominic.egger@wyn.com

We came to Phuket on 14 day sandbox scheme, we end up staying 23 days.
Staff is this hotel’s greatest asset. Miki, Nan and Kookkik are my fairy godmother, they grant all my wishes and made our stay magical !
They guide me through Covid testing, spa treatments, shopping advice, local travel tips. They are extremely patient and helpful.
We stayed in pool suites in block J, we love jumping into the pool to cool down in afternoon.
A thumb up on Covid safety, their guest rooms air con are independent units, there is no risk of cross contamination at all.
Highly recommend it !

Dear "Anteater222222" We love to hear your great Phuket "Sandbox" experiences and thank you for sharing the heavenly stay you had at our resort. Our Front Desk team is continuously driving the personal and memorable guest experience and appreciate the highlighting of our gems Khun Miilky, Khun Nan and Khun Kik. Nothing better then getting local inside tips when exploring a destination to make it an amazing holiday. The Wyndham treasure for discounts spending in our resort is an added benefit and having a relaxing massage at our Zana Spa is another highlight. Our resort has a great set up to travel covid safe. As you highlight the air con units are individual by room reducing the risk of cross airborn contamination. Having your own pool enables the social distancing and the Latitude 98 restaurant is well spaced with indoor and outdoor tables. Our team is fully vaccinated and it is great to see that all guest adhering to the safety standards set. Dear Khun Meander
Greetings from Wyndham Grand Phuket Kalim Bay. No our resort does not have Kids Play area, kids club or kids entertainment. Our resort is not designed for kids, There are a lot of stairs up and down, build beautiful on the hill of Kalim, plenty of infinity pools and 10 to 15 minutes drive from the next beach.
There are plenty of hotels in Phuket which are geared at families.
Sincere regards
Dominic

I am sorry but I do not remember the room number.
Anyway, most of the rooms with pool have an unobstructed ocean view.
Hi there, the closest will be opposite Diamond Cliff resort, half way into Patong. The most selection you will have just at the entry to Patong on the second road. Hope that helps.
Sincere reagrds
Dominic
