We've been stopping over at Van Zylsvlei for years now on our way to the Garden Route, and we keep going back. It's not five-star, but it's perfect for us: clean beds, bathrooms and a swimming pool which is absolutely wonderful after a day's driving. The breakfast is good value for money.

This is a very good overnight stay between Jhb and Cape Town. Well situated, providing clean and tidy accommodation with amenities such as tv and wi-fi. Pet-friendly, refreshing pool, braai facilities but supper and breakfast optionally available. Space also available to keep meat cold. Nice farm feeling with ample parking.

This little gem of a spot has been here for 70 years and was apparently that first stop-over location between Johannesberg and Cape Town. The accommodation is basic but fine for an overnight stay to break up a long haul trip. Dinners at the restaurant are great and full breakfasts are also available. If you're travelling with young kids, the...

My family and I have been stopping over at Van Zylsvlei for years now. Each time it is enjoyable as it is simplistic and quiet. The hosts are friendly and accommodative. My favourite part is always being greeted by playful and loving dogs, and this time also an adorable lamb.

It is a relatively convenient stop over midway to the Cape. I travelled with my dogs and chose it as it was advertised as pet friendly. The place is clean, neat and superficially friendly but I was told off like a 2 year old as there were dog hairs left on her blanket! It is away from amenities but has...

We stayed here on our way to Sutherland and it was clean and neat and well kept. The room was big enough with aircon and spacious bathroom. Very friendly service and good, home cooking. We felt very welcome at all times.

A lovely clean, neat and modest place to stay over. I arrived early and got a rondavel. It has aircon, lovely roomy shower and television 📺 with decoder. Equiped well. Nice bar, lounge and dining place. Dinner available and breakfast included. Real farm atmosphere in the Karoo. Clean air and no polution or noise.

We were on holiday with our little Sherpa caravan. I didn't want to unpack everything the first night so we decided to look for a place where we could sleep in a chalet and have the caravan with us. Van Zylsvlei was the choice we made and we were very happy. Deon and Annalie made us feel at home with...

We were on our way back from holiday and wanted a place to sleep over, when found this little gem on the internet. It was a true oasis after the long drive. The reception was warm and welcoming while the staff was friendly, helpful and professional. We found the rooms to be very basic but clean and comfortable. The next...

We are relocating to Cape Town and with our last drive including our four legged family member we needed a break that was pet friendly. What a beaut farm in the Karoo and a lovely setting. Room was basic but clean and everything we needed. Friendly warm people that run the place and we had an excellent dinner in their...
