We have just returned from a fabulous stay. Unlike @puryhill, who is still searching the globe for somewhere to match their fastidious reqirements, we suggest Ibitha but eitherway don't come back. Cleopatra Farmhouse was full, especially now that we have got rid of this self important oaf. Everyone -yes even the skinny scoffed all the food, even the breakfast, thankfully...

The setting is lovely, very peaceful set up in the mountains next to the national park The food experience is fantastic, all the guests come together around 7pm for a drink and then that evenings meal is described in detail which is very interesting and the presentation and quality are of a very high standard The only disappointment we found was...

Stayed here at the start of a 5 week trip to South Africa and what a good way to start. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Room very quirky but fitting in with the surroundings. Very good 7 course dinners and lovely breakfasts although a bit too much breakfast for me. Recommend this the setting is stunning.

What a lovely place. A perfect setting with fantastic views. We had the most enormous cottage with everything we could possibly want, a comfortable bed, cosy sitting room with real fire, covered veranda for admiring the view. The public areas were comfortable and cleverly decorated, comfortable and with great views. The staff were incredibly helpful, polite and friendly. We went...

Once you've travelled the last 6.2kms over an unpaved road, you finally arrive at this amazing venue. Run by Richard and Mouse Poynton, this is extraordinary. Individual cabins with stunning views of the Drakenberg Mountains. This really is different, from quirky interior decor to the welcome each time you returned (moist towels and fresh juice!). It is run as a gastronomic...

We stayed at the highly recommended River Run Cottage administered by the Hotel and it was pure bliss. A gurgling river soothed us and a beautifully appointed House catered to all our needs and wants. We had dinner at the Farmhouse and Phillipa's rendition of the history behind Cleopatra Mountain was really special. The meal was exceptional, the service was...

Cleopatras Farmhouse is set in stunning scenery at the foothills of the Drakensburg but the surrounding planting now obscures much of the views lending the whole place a rather claustrophobic and gloomy feel. The rooms are a mixture of half a dozen stable type accommodation and several suites in what was the old farmhouse. We stayed in one of these...

restuarant review: a very friendly welcome n short history/intro about cleopatra mountain farmhouse while given a walk through. Yes the decor is out dated, you can still give the place the same quaint look with a fresher update but nonetheless it was tranquil and soon had a settling coziness to it. What great service.. efficient & friendly yet professional. Most...

It's clear Cleopatra HAD a reputation and its that reputation that brought us here Despite the best efforts of the staff it's clear to me this restaurant has lost its way A plethora of awards adorn the entrance to the dining room but none more recent that 2006 Richard Pointon once had a passion for what he created here and...

After some time on unmade gravel roads we began to doubt the wisdom of staying at the lodge. However, immediately on arrival, we were met by Amen who gave us chilled home made lemonade. Our room was large with a private glass covered patio from which we viewed the Drakensberg Mountains. Gusts were invited to meet for pre dinner drinks...
