We stayed a night in a River View Spa suite and we were so impressed. The view was spectacular, the room was spacious and clean, and the service was great. And they have alpacas! So beautiful! Can't wait to visit again.

Yes there is plenty of bushwalking to be done. The property and area itself is surrounded by bushlands with lots of wildlife. There is also Lake Lyell where you could go for a picnic or enjoy water sports, provided you bring your own equipment (not sure if you can hire) There is also the Japanese Bathhouse which is a 5-10min drive from the property but you will need to make a booking to go here as numbers are limited. As for restaurants etc. you will need to drive back into Lithgow Town.

Eagle View Escape is a couples only retreat catering only for couples.
If you google Federation Gardens & Possums Hideaway you will find accommodation which caters for children. :)
