"Mannaas Veedu" is a countryside homestay made in the traditional Kerala architecture and located in the most beautiful and unexplored part of Central Kerala. It has the advantage of being centrally located as Kochi Airport is just three and half hrs drive, Kovalam Beach 3 hrs.(80km), Periyar being about 3 hrs drive and Alleppy backwaters just one hr. drive and one hr. 15 min for Kumarkom from Mannaas Veedu. USP of Mannaas Veedu is the Elephant Camp, Konni which is just 30 min. drive where you can have a date with the elephants feeding them and having shower with them. Most important is that Mannaas Veedu lies on the most popular route between Periyar and Kovalam (is the shortest route) and can be the perfect stopover for the guest.

We were welcomed by Alex, his family and staff with a fresh drink and a flower garland. The plantation and house are tucked away in a very quiet area, our room was great, of a good size, clean, well maintained and air-conditioned. The food was excellent and lots of ingredients came from the house garden. This is a very relaxing place, Alex, his wife and their staff are very attentive and look after all your needs. Alex took us to a local temple which we were very privileged to be able to enter, it was an amazing experience. My wife took advantage of the ayurvedic treatments they offer and had a head massage which was excellent.

We visited Kerala in May 2015 for our 20th wedding anniversary and spent a night at Mannaas Veedu Homestay in Prathanamthita. The personalized five star service received was absolutely amazing. We dined with Alex in his home; the Kerala food was really excellent. We were personally escorted on a site seeing tour, off the beaten track by the owner Aji Alex, and the private elephant bathing experience was something we will remember forever. The ayurvedic massage at Healing Touch was excellent and relaxing. We will definitely return to Kerala for a holiday with the entire family. What a great place.....must visit!!!! My son and I had a fantastic stay at Mannas Veedu. Ali and his team of delightful ladies were superb. The foot was exquisite and the attention to detail, second to none. We had a superb trip to Konni elephant camp as well as a visit to the metal mirror workshop, snake boat (huge) dry dock and the local 5,000 year old temple. Ali even arranged for a our trip to the station when we left was by an Ambassador car. We were so well looked after and felt immediately at home. Pereya (our guide) was a delight. We understand a swimming pool may be put in shortly, this would be superb, as the only thing missing was somewhere to sit out and soak up the sunshine.

The entire architecture and decor of this resort is outstanding. The staff is very courteous and go out of their way to make the guests comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed the Gavi Forest Safari & Konni elephant camp. We were guided to these places by the resort staff. All of us were super thrilled to bathe and feed the elephants. If elephants fascinate you, then this resort is a must visit as its the best place to stay close to the elephant camp. I

We arrived at Manaas Veedu for three days in April and had so many unique experiences it's hard to list them all. The house itself and our rooms were elegant and comfortable and Alex and his family made us welcome from the start.
In the spa, the highlights are the delicious local cuisine, which they are happy to show you how to cook, and just chilling with a book on the shady verandah.
You can come here for full Ayurvedic treatments of up to three weeks, or as we did, just for a few days to see things you won't see from a beach cafe or a houseboat.
Alex had many suggestions for visits and trips, and we did as many as we could. Outstanding was the nutty religious festival with racing model temples, and scrubbing elephants in a local river, which was unforgettable. (For us, I doubt the elephants will recall us!)

this is a family run small hotel in the owners home, it is typical of the more wellto do homes in the area, lovely peaceful gardens with an Ayruveda spa. This is something totally different to the norm very relaxing ,peace and quiet, the only grouse i have is that for the evening meal we were not asked what we would like but presented with a large selection of local food. Very friendly and helpful staff, try a massage if you visit,

We changed our plans to visit this wonderful Homestay because of recommendations from other travellers. 2 nights was not long enough to take up the many suggestions that Alex had. Everything we did fit in was amazing. Here's a few of the high lights. Firstly we spent more than an hour scrubbing up elephants in a local river before the set off for temple duty. Just the Mahouts and us! Secondly we went to a rural Hindu wedding and had the chance to see every detail. Thirdly we got the chance to enter the inner sanctuary of an important Hindu temple. Fourthly there was the food and the cooking lessons. Finally there were the wonderful 4 hand massages
Thank you Alex

The place was amazing and especially the food was really superb. I was extremely impressed with every aspect of my stay. Even the arrangements made for our sightseeing was really good, we had nothing to worry, as all was taken care of it and we really enjoyed our stay in MANNAS VEEDU. And the food preparation of Chechi (Staffs working in Mannas Veedu) was superb especially the Fish Fry :) i loved it. Thank you all to MANNAS VEEDU who have taken care of our stay, thank you so much and keep the good work going :)

India can be a hustle bustle place but Mannas Veedu is a welcome sanctuary. It's excellent accommodation is warm and humbling, and a touch of rural luxury. All the staff are welcoming and very chatty, its nice to talk to locals and experience the country properly. One key thing that I loved was the food and learning the girls in the kitchens skills, its was always a feast of the senses.

My only honest criticism, and this is purely personal was the massage, it was, as I was told afterwards, very traditional, both the full body and the indian head massage and didn't enjoy them, i am trained in massage and have one every week and none of the techniques I found particularly enjoyable, they were all smooshing movements for the whole hour (full body) and 1/2 hour (head massage). I was told this wasn't the normal guy, but this didn't help me there and then. Apparently it focused on the skin and detox, which I get, but in my mind the techniques needed to be diversified even for the expectation of relaxation of foreign travellers.

Above all a great stay, very enjoyable and would come back if I was in the area. Thanks
