The winding country roads channel your way into one of the most enchanted stillness of landscapes in the Western Ghats. A stillness that is in possession of Karnataka’s Wild Life Sanctuary which is sited at B.R. Hills near Mysore, also known as the Biligiri Ranganatha Swamy Hills. This hill range proudly embraces a precious confluence of the Western Ghats and Eastern Ghats, a sanctuary that is home for eco-systems that are exclusive to both the mountain ranges. This mountain clad is also a declared Tiger Reserve by the government of Karnataka under the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972. While you are drowned in the tranquil mountains and wrapped in silent conversations with the sky-reaching tree peaks; what brings you back to your senses is the relentless chirping of birds and the invigorating breeze soothing your spirit. Clouded in the misty country side breeze, these curtains of rolling hills is a native land to the Soliga tribes. Welcome to the Hills.

This is my second visit to Gorukana. Loved everything about the property. My kids enjoyed the stay thoroughly. We stayed in the cottage, which was comfortable for 3 adults and 2 kids.
The cottages are well maintained and has a beautiful view facing a small pond. It is nice that the food is included in the package and we don't have to pay anything extra. The food was above average with good variety.
The bonfire and local tribal dance performance arranged by Gorukana came in as a pleasant surprise.
Overall, it was a nice and re-energising getaway and would recommend it as a must visit place.

What we loved:
1. The ambience
2. The design of the cottages
3. Scenic beauty within the cottage, mini lake and surrounded clean flora and fauna.
4. Cleanliness
5. Nature walk was wonderful, soliga tribal dance n boating for kid were good.

What can be improved/dislike:
1. For the tariff paid the food options could have been better. Some items were really bland especially desserts. Many luxury resorts offer a wide spread of food options. And weekend demand was more, preparation was slow.
2. Service is slow -there is no intercom to rooms nor any wifi or signal in room. Staff forget what is told. They made a real fuss when we asked for some hair oil on festival day.
3. Some front desk staff lack courteousness and were not quite friendly

One of the best resorts in the area.
Family of 6 adults 3 children visited
Pros
1. Resort amidst nature
2. Great place for kids to stay and experience nature
3. Food is good.
4. Courteous staff
5. Close to JLR and BR Temple
6. Clean rooms and equipped with hot water, shampoo etc
7. Cottage experience is really good

Cons:
1. No petrol pr diesel within 30km radius. So have your vehicle fuel tanks full.
2. Safari is organized by JLR BR Hills only and you need to be the first one in the queue to beat long lines.( We managed to).
3. You might see spiders and small insects in and around your room. So don't creep out.

The rooms were of very poorly maintained and it was not up to the quality for the price you pay. You pay almost the price of a 4 star hotel and the facility is of zero star and very substandard.
They promised morning walk and bird watch, but the person to take us didn't appear at all!
The food timing is always delayed by 30min to 1hr from the time they announce. However one consolation was the food was good.
The whole place is getting worn out and needs maintenance and they should revise their rates downwards to suit the facilities.

Pros:
1) Location of the property is nice but Jungle lodges at KGudi will offer you much better location, right inside the jungle.

2)The property is fairly well maintained. Rooms are spacious, with a very cosy attic and have big sit outs facing the jungle. You might face issues with insects but this is expected inside a jungle lodge.

3)The wellness sessions are top notch. Totally recommended if you staying in this property

Cons:
1) This is an overpriced property. Not worth the money you will have to shed. At the same price, Jungle lodges at Kgudi is a much better option ( better location, 2 jungle safaris included, better maintained)

2) Food options are very limited and less in quantity. During out weekend stay, we had to face this issue twice.

Imagine a situation, it is 9pm in the evening, you are hungry to the core, you have been told earlier that mutton would be served for dinner. So with all the excitement you enter the area where the food is being served and then you get a surprise!. You get to hear that the mutton is over!! And just to let all of you know, we were there well within the stipulated time for dinner. They were hardly apologetic about it. As a replacement, they served a tasteless chicken fry which they called it chicken kabab.

Limited breakfast options as well.

This property is a big no for the foodies. Gorukona is a wellness resort, may be that is why their focus on serving good food is very less.

Overall a poor experience.

Our stay at Gorukana was deeply disheartening and fell far short of expectations. The management, particularly the lady in charge, displayed a level of rudeness and unprofessionalism that I have never encountered in my travels. Her confrontational attitude when we inquired about certain issues, combined with a complete lack of apology, reflected a dictatorial management style that is unacceptable in the hospitality industry.

To start, upon our arrival on a Friday when the resort was not busy, we were given no introduction or overview of Gorukana, its facilities, or the activities available. There was a complete lack of initiative to involve us in the advertised evening or morning walks, leaving us clueless and unengaged

The resort failed to provide basic amenities; for instance, we were not provided with enough blankets on our first night, leading to a great deal of discomfort. Worse still, there was no way to contact the staff for assistance later.

On top of these issues, when we checked out a mere 30 minutes past the standard time and requested an additional cup of tea, instead of compensating for their earlier mistakes, they had the audacity to charge us extra for the tea.

Additionally, the resort’s claim of being an Ayurvedic and wellness center is highly questionable. They serve non-vegetarian food, which is contrary to Ayurvedic principles. The lack of Ayurvedic or wellness activities was stark; the only remotely related feature was a small garden with minimal variety. There were no signs of any Ayurvedic masseurs or even a price list for such services.

Moreover, the resort seems to have a set of arbitrary rules not listed in their policy while neglecting the ones that are. Despite a stated policy against accommodating all-male groups, there were several such groups during our stay. This selective enforcement of rules adds to the confusion and frustration.

In conclusion, Gorukana not only falls short in providing basic hospitality services but also fails to live up to its claims of being an Ayurvedic wellness retreat. The management’s lack of regard for guest comfort, combined with the absence of promised amenities and services, makes this a place I cannot recommend to anyone seeking a genuine wellness experience.

Dear Guest, Thank you for providing detailed feedback about your stay with us. We are sorry to hear that your experience at Gorukana did not meet your expectations.Firstly, we want to clarify that it was never our intention for our team to come across as rude or unprofessional. We take great pride in our hospitality and always strive to create a welcoming environment for our guests. Regarding the lack of introduction or overview of Gorukana upon your arrival, we apologize for this oversight. Regarding the issues with facilities and the lack of a way to contact staff for assistance, we ensure that all guests are provided with adequate amenities before the time of arrival please note that our staff is available until the centre’s closing hours, after which only on-duty staff are available for emergencies. Regarding the additional charge for tea and the timing of your check-out, we would like to clarify that our tariff is inclusive of all meals. Any additional items requested outside of meal times may incur an extra charge. We will review our communication regarding this to ensure that it is clear to all guests. Regarding your concerns about our claim of being an Ayurvedic and wellness center, we want to clarify that while we do serve non-vegetarian food, this does not contradict Ayurvedic principles. Ayurveda does not require vegetarianism, and we offer a range of Ayurvedic treatments. We regret this was not made clear during your stay, and we will review our communication regarding our Ayurvedic offerings. In conclusion, we regret that the stay did not meet your expectations at Gorukana. Your feedback is valuable to us, and we will use it to improve our services and ensure that all guests have a positive experience. We hope that you will consider giving us another chance in the future to provide you with the genuine wellness experience you seek. Regards Team Gorukana

The location and the property is beautiful..it is a nice weekend getaway from.bangalore with good connectivity. However I found the resort overpriced for the services offered. Room category is like a 2* property.. not well maintained inspite of the layout being beautiful. Food quality is good but spread could be elaborate. Breakfast was below average. The included excursions which was a tribal dance and nature walk.. both were pretty useless and could very well be for free. So 8k per night is too much. Was trying to understand how the pricing works with the services provided.

My recent experience at the resort was disappointing due to extremely poor customer service from the manager Aparna. Basic amenities were restricted by Aparna, such as having tea in our rooms, and were instead instructed to drink only in the dining area.and staff failed to attend to our needs. The Aparna dismissive attitude towards our feedback was unacceptable. Overall, I cannot recommend this resort for a leisurely getaway with family and friends.

Worst nightmare of a resort . We checked in to two cottages on 25-26th September .
The cottages are filthy and uncared for . They don't resemble the pics on the internet at all .
Walls are stained , there are insects galore everywhere . Lots of lizard dropping and cobwebs too .
The sheets are stained and the towels smell .
The railings are broken and I don't think these cottages have seen paint or polish in ages . Totally unkempt is the impression.
The only saving grace is the excellent food , though simple it was fresh and tasted good .
Would I go again or recommend it to anyone -nah
