Wonderful island, staff polite and always smailing and available to solve any kind of issue, resort extremely clean and well integrated in the natural landscape. many water activities, marvelous diving /snorkeling, and great kitchen. In particular it is necessary to emphasize the talent of the Italian chef Mattia, extremely capable, available and polite. Great pasta, with many sauces and its 'genious touch'! As Italian I felt 'treated' like at home... Highly recommended.
Let me start sharing my honeymoon experience- I was no where closer to select Reethi Faru as my dream destination for honeymoon till the time my dates got shuffled for the other shortlisted island, I opted to finally go for Reethi Faru. I think one of the best decisions made by me. 1) Arrival- Had a dream arrival in the island of Maldives by sea plane. Such a warm welcome by RFR team. I already had an instinct to experience the best days. 2) Front Desk- Checkin was processed in a very systematic and refreshing way. Thanks to Allen & Soso for such a warm hospitality. Allen went out of his way to support me multiple times even after his shifts over or after he had a long queue at his desk yet he never failed to answer all my queries with a smile and generosity. Soso has been one of the warmest and soft spoken staff i have ever met. I requested her to gave me water villa with sunset view. She ensured everythign was in place and before I could remind her she would address my problems and such a humble way. Thanks for contributing for my great experience. Gais helped me when i had my flight cancelled and this gentlement was at the top of his game to help me whenever whatever was need. Allen helped whilst he was exiting from his long working hour shift. Check out was smooth too. 3) Rooms- We had 2 night garden villa and 2 night water villla. Water villa was literally Mesmorizing. Garden villa was given first which was very cozy in the middle of jungle, second we were in the water villa saving the best for the last. My water villa had direct access to breathaking view of ocean, colorful fishes and reefs. It was 10 steps to step in water as pretty as a picture exciting, thrilling kaleidoscopic water. 4) Meal & Restaurant- Vakaru gave a homely feel. Special thanks to Nishan from service team to have served us. Even after working all 3 shifts Nishan made sure to enjoy serving guest with utmost grace and liveliness. Live kitchen counter has been my all time favourite specially egg and pasta. Reethi grill has a special softy corner for its Pizza an view of sea. Dhiyavaru restaurant gave us a very lavish island dinner which cannot be expressed in words. I think i met Riyaz(Ilyas) there and my wife and I enjoyed talking to him about island. Last but not the least and my fav- the honeymoon dinner at Huvandu was no lesser than an dreamlike meal- Last supper before leaving for Maldives- Perfect food with superb lcoation with surreal ambience and yes the perfect dessert. Thanks Nasih for the quality service. 5) Water Acitivites- Team handling this department were extremely cordial and welcoming. My fav acitivyt was sea bob and my wife's was fun tube. No one should miss sunset cruise in Maldives 6) SPA- Spa was good too 4 star 7) Housekeeping-Cleanliness and Efficiency at it's best. 8) Unprecedented incident - Had a minor accident inside the room wherein injured my head. I must say, thank you GM Victor for ensuring to arrange doctor services without charges and also keeping a constant check on me. He ensured to meet me before check out and, I shared my pleasing experience to him with all my heart. Thanks Victor for having such a warm, hospitable, lively, exceptional and world class team. I have already started recommending this lovely peice of island to all my forks and relatives. This has indeed been my best experience in terms of hospitality. Pls convey my special thanks to names mentioned and hope to see you all soon. Thanks Reethi Faru for having us and hats off Victor & team for making this island- a true paradise. :)…
Everything at Reethi Faru Resort exceeded our expectations. The friendliest of staff , especially Ali our server in Vakaru restaurant who was so attentive, friendly and with a fab sense of humour and Jobin at the Nala Bar on “our” beach side who would happily chat whilst making our top class refreshments 🍹😃 We were on the AI package and even with 2 adult sons, we were never left wanting more. The quality of food and variety of dishes was excellent. I had concerns before going about having to pay for many extras after a previous review suggested so. This was definitely NOT the case. Staff were always keen to highlight the ‘exempt’ part on any tabs we had to sign to reassure us. This was at the bars- we never had to sign in the restaurant. Staff at Haruge bar were amazing and made fabulous cocktails. We enjoyed the Sunset Bar one evening before dinner and again had amazing cocktails! We enjoyed a drink or cocktail at all the bars on Reethi (well why wouldn’t you??!) and all were excellent. We used the games room next to Haruge bar (once it got cooler in an evening) which the boys loved one night. We stayed in Double Garden Villa 221/222 which was spacious and comfortable with gorgeous ‘outdoor’ bathrooms with our new pet lizards on the plants to greet us each morning/evening and ghekos aplenty! Our sons would have preferred separate beds but the super king was plenty big enough to accommodate them both , especially as the mattress was so comfy so neither of them wanted to move to the day/sofa bed. We loved walking around the island in the shallow waves and the super soft sand which took around 25 mins. We all took the sunset cruise which is included in the package. This was lovely and took us around another nearby resort island and a local island where the little ones were happy waving at us go by. Snorkelling on the house reef was very rewarding and our closest beach was on the north west side (Nala Bar) which by far was the calmest side and although the coral is still repairing, the marine life was so plentiful including small reef sharks. The house turtle didn’t come to see us but the variety of fish from tiny tetras to Angel fish to needle fish and huge parrot fish and larger ones we couldn’t name were all over the reef. Myself and my youngest son went on the Manta Lagoon boat trip and it will stay with us forever as we were snorkelling amongst 20 or so Mantas - one of the bucket list ticked off and we would highly recommend it. All the guides and staff at the dive centre were helpful, professional, knowledgeable and friendly 😊 I could go on and on and even though It was only a week it felt longer. We’re all missing the people, the food and of course the place itself.....hopefully we shall return one day. 🏝…
Our +20th visit to a maledivian island. This one ist just great. Very good quality(Food bungalow Pool, breathtaking views from the room. Very friendly and efficient staff. The Speciality restaurants have an equally high standard. Dive school is great!
We had a fabulous 2 weeks at Reethi Faru. The staff were all amazing and could not be more helpful or welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. The chilled towel and fruit punch on arrival was very welcome and set the tone for the whole stay. Food was fantastic and varied every day. Whilst snorkelling on the house reef we saw so many fish along with reef shark and turtle. We took the Manta safari and swam with wild Manta, what an experience!! I would recommend and would love to return.
Ok, to be fair upfront we were on a Travelzoo deal (so yes, we got the accommodation at a good price).......but we still paid extra for our son, travelled with friends and stayed 2 weeks so we did spend extra $$$ as well. Airport greeting- almost non existent and certainly not the warm Maldivian welcome in which we are accustomed. Arrival at the resort a slow and tedious domestic transfer and the boat ride across was the WORST we've ever experienced in all our years of travel. Room- 7 nights in a garden villa (we were upgraded to the family villa so there was a sitting/dining room and toilet separating us and our friends) too bad if we didn't want to be this close)!! Luckily we really like our friends! Be aware that the wildlife in the garden rooms is ever present. Big huntsman spiders, geckos, lizards and mozzies. Note to self....shake out towels and underwear prior to use as a hairy spider was flicked out of some underwear. 2nd room-overwater villa, no such issues with critters. Note rooms are clean, tidy and well presented. The lack of any drying facility in the garden rooms was an issue, in the OW a great pull out clothesline over the bath (although our friends room didn't have this) Food- we found the buffet breakfast and dinner to be sufficient and we didn't go hungry. Service in the restaurant was good, thankyou. Reethi Grill- we ate there for my birthday dinner and it was lovely, and thankyou for the bottle of wine and small birthday cake and also the bed decoration. Pool bar- good drinks, good food but lordy don't ask for a piece of cake as Nazeer will throw his arms up like it's all too hard. I also witnessed him "Tutting" under his breath when guests removed the i-pad from the bar to sit down and read the menu....this behaviour made me feel most uncomfortable and is something that I've never witnessed anywhere.....and the way he orders the other guy who works with him around is disgusting. He needs to be addressed for his manner. We did ask for a small jug of milk for the room to make a coffee but the answer was NO....but we can send via room service a 1lt long life milk to your room for $15USD....you are kidding right! Due to the bad transfer over we asked re changing to a seaplane to go back. Yes, possible but at $250 USD per guest (one way)......but we were not going to get a refund for the $185 we had already paid for our return trip- so how does that work? Also others said that their return one way transfer was $150. Also no sooner do you set foot in reception they insist on you paying in advance, not settling the bill on checkout like everywhere else. I could go on but I think I've said enough. Yes, we were disappointed in our stay, yes we were disappointed for our friends as we had talked up how welcoming and friendly the Maldives are. I would have taken some of these issues up with management but there was no one to be found! On a final plus note, the island is lovely as are the gardens and the gorgeous ladies who work tirelessly keeping the grounds maintained, the rooms are fine and the food ok too. The reef is amazing...... I feel if you are staying on All inclusive and not on a Travelzoo voucher, I think your stay will be very different to ours!…
I am nearing the end of 2 weeks in Reethi Faru resort and I wanted to give an honest opinion on this resort and it’s amenities. Sorry this is going to be a long one but I feel an honest review is needed. I would first like to say this resort is stunning and completely spotless and the rooms are beautiful or at least the over water villas in which we stayed. The staff have all been really nice and polite including the young lady who greeted us on arrival and the bar and restaurant staff too. The man who serviced our room every day was friendly and did an excellent job. Unfortunately I now have to mention the more negative side of the experience. This begins with the All-Inclusive plan which we booked believing this would be as stated however it was not really an All-inclusive plan as there were more things that actually weren’t included than were. You normally can get snacks etc between meals however these were only available in 2 places being the pool bar and the over water restaurant and these snacks were chargeable. There are 3 restaurants which are all chargeable and very expensive for the food they serve. The only restaurant available to the All-inclusive is the buffet style restaurant which was available 3 times a day and served what can only be described as passable food at best. The same dishes were served every day and they were simply given different names on different days. There was a very limited choice and what there was certainly wasn’t of the standard you would expect from a luxury resort. Most of it was curry based dishes with the same white rice twice a day. There were days when I only had one meal as I just couldn’t face what was being offered. A couple of times we had room service which I should mention was of a good standard however again very expensive with 2 burgers being $58 plus a 23% tax charge. One dinner at the chargeable restaurants was $157 + 23% tax for two meals and 2 drinks. When I asked as to why so much was excluded I was told that I was ‘only’ All-inclusive and not All-Inclusive Premium. Something which was not offered when booking. I was told that we could upgrade to this for another $80 a day!!! I have been to a number of resorts in my time on All-inclusive and it has always been that everything included with the exception of expensive spirits, wines and champagnes. This I feel was not so much All-inclusive as Full-Board and I feel this is very misleading. It seems that the resort offers poor quality food in the buffet so people spend even more money and eat at the other restaurants. The second complaint is that the water sports facility offer poor service with people who really don’t seem to be bothered about offering a good service. We had arranged a boat trip to another island to look around and shop etc and when we booked we were told it was free to us as long as more than 5 guests signed up to go. We were told that if we did not hear from them that the trip was going ahead. If however 5 did not sign up they would call us to arrange the trip for just the 2 of us at a cost of £35 each which was fine. The day arrived of the trip and we walked down to the watersports area only to be told that no one else was going so it was cancelled and I asked firstly why no one called us as promised to let us know and secondly when could we go on the trip for just 2 and was told they are too busy and wait a couple of days and come back. Hardly a positive response. At this point we walked away and left it. My third point which I feel is something that people should 100% be aware of is that there was something of a light fingered person employed by the resort. Upon arrival at our villa I had asked the question about how to set up the in room safe and was told they would get someone to call me about it. This never happened. As a precaution we both emptied our wallets and put our cash in our travel wallet and hid it at the back of a drawer and it wasn’t clear to see without pulling the drawer right out. In this resort anything which is chargeable is signed for and charged to the room so never any need to carry cash. On the 4th day I went into the travel wallet only to discover there was $80 missing from the money. Now I am good with money and I know that I had used exactly $20 for a tip but had not touched the money since. I stupidly did not say anything and 3 days later I checked and another $140 had gone. At this point I called reception and asked to speak with the resort manager and was told they don’t have one but there is a general manager. Both he and his head of security came to our room and I explained what had happened and their first response was why hadn’t I locked it away. My reply to this was I shouldn’t have to worry that valuables would be stolen by staff members who are clearly the only ones other than ourselves with access to the room. I also explained I couldn’t use the safe and why. They told me they would look into it but nothing they could do. I feel this was bad and they did no do enough to investigate. All in all beautiful place but resort I would never visit again. Awful food and light fingered staff.…
The grounds, the staff, the world-class ecological based support systems, the serenity, the food, the diving, ....and gloriously never put our shoes on from the day we arrived by seaplane to the day we sadly had to come home. If you want a paradise where your soul goes on vacation - go to Reefi Faru!
To start of with, I’ve been told that a whole new management team will be taking over the resort, in around two months time, so hopefully the place will be a lot more of a pleasant experience for folk visiting. The good stuff: you simply cannot fault the appearance of the place! It is absolutely stunning! You cannot describe it in any way other than paradise. The island is well maintained and cleaned. You can guarantee to walk anywhere, at anytime, and you’ll see somebody cleaning something. The staff are always pleasant, but sometimes you can get lost in translation, just gently explain to the staff what you want without patronising them, and they catch ok very quickly :) if you plan on snorkelling whilst here, you can see that there are some man made barriers at the edge of the reef around the island, and where the island begins to drop, the closer you get to the barrier, the better the marine life you’ll see. Although there are corals on the reef, a vast majority of the reef has actually died and broken. If you’re lucky enough to get a water villa, you’ll have things like sharks approaching the back deck out of pure curiosity. You can walk around the entire island, via the beach, in around 40 minutes at least. Because the resort encourages its visitors to not wear footwear, they have placed large cast iron or clay bowls, of water, so you can wash the sand of your feet before going onto any decked or tile floored areas, I have not wore any footwear throughout the visit. The island has three shops, one of which sold some beautiful Maldivian made items such as wood carvings and materials, but sadly it was not open throughout the two weeks I was here. The other being a jewellery shop and another being a big standard tacky shop which sold imported snacks, and fridge magnets etc. was told the island was currently at 80% capacity with visitors, but it was more like 20/30%. The other bar area was always empty, and the main restaurant had very minimal visitors at meal times. You’ll see some wildlife on the island such as lizards, birds and fruit bats, all of which are very shy and will scarper if you get to close. All in all, if I were to rate this resort on cleanliness and appearance, it would definitely get 5 stars from me. Now.. the bad stuff: the food on the island (the main restaurant buffet), is really bad. A lot of it, is local traditional foods, which is fine, but there isn’t a lot to accommodate people from cultures, who don’t typically eat curries for breakfast. You’ll notice that if something is served for dinner, they’ll simply change its name and serve it for lunch the next day. Sometimes you’ll go to the buffet and they’ll have something which is absolutely perfect! There are two chefs in the buffet area who will prepare eggs and pasta dishes to your liking, and also sweets and breakfast things such as waffles and pancakes. You’re allocated specific seating so you’ll have the same dining table for every meal, throughout your stay! So no racing to get a beach view table!. The room service food was flawless.. had it a couple of times and it couldn’t be faulted, sadly though it was seriously overpriced. The restaurant also served beautifully prepared meals, but a few people were complaining of feeling Ill after eating meals, and even my partner had to remain in the room for two days after, due to eating something which didn’t agree with him. I personally feel that the buffet meals are deliberately made poorly, to encourage people to use the restaurants. The shops on site are very overpriced. What you’d buy at home, you can guarantee you’ll pay triple for here. In fact to be brutally honest, I would advise anybody to avoid the shops here at all times. The gift shop, the staff follow you around and watch you like a hawk! And it’s really off putting. If you’re a smoker, buy cigarettes from the Bar! They’re roughly around $15 for 20, much cheaper than the island shop. The jewellery shop is also seriously expensive and overpriced! If you want to look at anything, then look from the outside of the shop, the guy who runs it talks for England and he’s very VERY pushy! We had some things go missing from our room.. money, some clothing items too, we requested to speak to the manager and he came down to our room to talk to us, and he didn’t give an ounce of a s*it! The rooms do have a safe in them, but cleaning staff and maintenance staff, carry an override key! So what’s the point.. they’re a safe that’s not safe. The safe does not come with instructions so you’ll need to call reception and ask for details etc. the manager spoke to us and said he would speak to staff coming into the room, he said it would be pointless involving local police as they wouldn’t do anything, later that day, the manager was In the bar the same time as us, and he just looked at us like filth! The cleaners come twice a day. You’ll also find that they’ll leave dirty linen and crockery, outside your room, from other rooms! Which is really annoying. There are different levels of what is considered to be all inclusive. This islands all inclusive is pretty much just full board. So if you book to come here all inclusive, don’t expect all inclusive. They have what is called a premium full board which an upgrade you can purchase when you arrive, the manager claims that people are made aware of this when booking a stay, but we booked this through my sister who is a travel agent, and she was unaware of such an upgrade. So this is something which has been devised by the Manager. The all inclusive is just for the buffet meals and a selection of drinks in the bar, that’s it! You’ll be asked to sign receipts whenever you purchase absolutely anything on the island, so make sure you check and question everything you sign for. The excursions are very poor. You can book two free excursions, providing you have a minimum of 5 people participate, under 5 people, you don’t go, simple as that! We had booked excursions, both were cancelled, and you don’t even find this out until you turn up at the allocated time (on the jetty), they won’t contact you and let you know. This was my third trip to the Maldives, simply because I wanted to experience a water villa. And to be brutally honest, I would strongly advise visiting another island,…
This place is truly paradise. It was our honeymoon and it certainly lived up to expectations of what you would dream about. The staff were so friendly. The resort was so clean everywhere on island. The water villa we stayed in was just perfect. We can't remember the name of our housekeeper but he kept our tea and coffee topped up and ensured we always had plenty of fresh water. We had all inclusive dine around package which was always available to us. We used the in resort app which made life so simple for requests. Ali in the main restaurant was a happy soul and always welcoming. In fact all staff friendly and nothing was too much effort. We took up snorkeling and now have the desire to do more. It felt safe here and the dive centre staff certainly made me feel confident in the water. The highlight of the trip was an excursion to see Manta Ray. We saw 40 plus and the experience will live with me forever. Around the island snorkeling we saw turtle and sharks ( little ones) which was also amazing. Truly an excellent resort. We want to come back because the experience was just so magical.…
