We enjoyed our stay here recently. On the upside the bed was comfy, the water was hot, the service was excellent, the ambience was great. I would recommend this establishment. On the downside I feel that R100 pp was quite expensive for breakfast but the food was really good and plentiful. I did not enjoy Gigi under the dining room...

The Van Rhyn guest house is a real gem : you feel truly at home, sitting in the lovely garden or in one of the many quiet corners around the house, enjoying a cup of Rooibos tea. Great location in a quiet village, in the middle of amazing natural beauty : first of all the early spring flowering season which...

This must be one of the best guest houses in the Western Cape, where we have toured numerous times. We stayed for three nights in late August. It was our second visit, having stayed there last year. The building is a delightful old property that has been very tastefully and sympathetically extended and modernised over the years. There is a...

Stayed over for the third time in the Van Rhyn Guest House in Vanrhynsdorp as the first stopover of our three week holiday trip. Guesthouse owner welcomed us with open arms, explained all the “in’s and out’s” of the establishment, took us on a guided tour and explain the availability of the coffee/TV -, dining-, sitting rooms, etc. We were...

Even though the room was comfortable and had all the basics, it can really do with an update i.e. white linen and towels. Absolutely not a fan of the brown blankets and yellowy sheets! As a business traveler, who stayed for a week the following was sorely missed: a desk to work at, in-room coffee making facilities, a bar fridge...

Stayed one week for business and had a really enjoyable stay. Well located place with character. Comfortable with clean and tidy rooms and great hospitality. Made to feel at home by Herbert and Terence. Great breakfasts and chef Herbert provides excellent dinners with prior arrangement. The only negative is no TV in the rooms. Kenny D.

All the accommodation we tried was fully booked and Lombards guesthouse phone and made a booking on our behalf. We has a good nights rest followed by a fantastic breakfast. If...

Dear Coetzer_family Many thanks for the review. I must apologise for the lack of sufficient hot water - in the rush of a full house I forgot to turn on the second geyser which supplies your room with hot water, and if my memory doesn't fail me you also had to put up with a dreadful noise when the hot...

Herbert is a great host and ensures you are comfortable at all times. The rooms have an old almost Victorian feel and look. No TV in the room & also no tea/coffee amenities in the room either. The room was quiet and made it possible to get some work done too.
