We were a group of 9 family members and had planned a two day visit to kaziranga from Shillong on 30th and 31st Dec 2019.We wanted clean rooms and bathrooms as we were travelling with senior citizens.While browsing through other kaziranga hotels, the reviews were not very great as the bathrooms were unclean and service was not great; then i came across this villa through airbnb site and selected this on the basis of its positive ratings,although this was one hr away from kaziranga park. Our bus service refused to travel this extra one hr ride to kaziranga park however Monjit arranged for 2 cars and we were taken well care of. The staff was very accommodating and service was fast.We enjoyed the food namely the yummy aloo parathas,chole puri ,dal wadas,French fries etc.This villa is a beautiful place and has its own lawn/ garden where you can relax and have your brekafast in the sun.If you are a dog lover there are two dogs namely pepsi and coco with whom you can play.We had a bonfire on 31st night and had a memorable stay here.We had great conversation with Uncle and aunty.I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful stay near kaziranga.

I went to Dergaon for some official work and stayed at Villa Shivalaya. It was really a good experience. The maintenance of the rooms, the food, the friendly behaviour of the owner is really appreciable. I hope to visit there again.

The establishment have hosted my family on two separate occasions. The infrastructure and amenities of the place are top notch but what sets it apart is accessibility and transperancy of all staff members. Add to it the humble and friendly owners and you are bound to have a pleasant stay.

We visited here because my friends father was born on a tea plantation, the son of a tea planter. Armed with only his birth certificate we booked into Villa Shivolay hoping to find the actual plantation but not really being very hopeful. Amazingly the team here at Villa Shivolay not only found the actual garden they introduced us to the current manager who found someone who knew the family name! The villa also arranged trips for us to the National Park, Chameli Memsaab bungalow( youtube the film) and laid on entertainment, a car with driver and fabulous vegetarian food. I highly recommend this place as the best place we saw to stay and the friendliness of the welcome was exceptional. Thanks to all the team here - a good five stars.

I was there for 10 days. My stay was very pleasant. The location of this homestay is very good, just beside the ASTC Dergaon. The manager Manjit is very helpful. Meals and breakfast were very tasty and healthy. Both the dogs are very friendly, specially the black one- Pepsi. I would recommend everyone to visit there.

I'd visited this villa with my mon and dad. I thought this gonna be a simple fooding and lodging hotel but when i went there i was surprised. Loved that place so much. And stuff behaviour pretty nice. Love those dogs too. Overall, this was my first experience in golaghat. Apart from this city,i love this villa so much. I'll definitely go again. Come to this villa and You'll love it. And specially, thanks monjit. You guys are nicest.

Far from the madding crowd at Kaziranga and near the less visited Gibbons sanctuary, I halted at Villa Shivalaya for a night when riding solo between Tezpur and Tinsukhia. Long before I stayed here, I had been corresponding with the ever affable Mr. Monjit and the owner - Mr. Jay Prakash Khadria. Their willingness to show flexibility for my ever changing stay dates were remarkable (thrice changed). On the day of my stay I was welcomed in the traditional Assamese way with a gamosha. Mr. Monjit, an avid biker himself even made me an honorary member of the Dergaon Bikers Club with their official sticker - a very sweet gesture. The owners welcomed me as well. The rooms were spacious and the attached bathroom was large and airy. They also have a resident furball of a dog named Pepsi who is extremely friendly. The staff who cook and secure the place are always looking out for you.The food is home-made and heavenly. Aunty personally came at night to talk to me and ensure I was well fed. Her daughter, Arpita Khadria is responsible for converting the lower portion of the bungalow into a homestay. I was lucky to be able to stay here as there is usually no availability during the Kaziranga high season or season. I paid an advance via Paytm before arriving here and kept the owners appraised of my situation requesting the date changes and they kindly let me change it each time. Biker friendly, solo friendly, safe, clean, hospitable - what more can one ask for?!

Villa Shivalaya is a great place to put up in all aspects of a vacation - quiet locality, close to the main tourist spots (yet not in the hustle bustle of it), amazing food, courteous and friendly staff, great management, comfortable stay, spotless rooms... It is a wonderful package... They have three rooms, so if you are going in a group of 5/6 you can book all the rooms and the entire Villa is for you to enjoy... Their dog, Pepsi is the cherry on the cake, always wanting a pat in his head... The management is well connected to the facilities around so everything else associated with you trip can be planned by them. A great palace to stay.

I spent a week at Villa Shivalay, with my wife. The place offers the incredibly warm hospitality of a family-run B&B with all the conveniences of a large professionally-managed resort.
We had never travelled in the Indian countryside before, and had shown up with a very short list of recommendations from friends who’d been in the area. It would’ve been a problem if it weren’t for the wonderfully hospitable Mr. and Mrs. Khadria - they helped us hash out an amazing itinerary. Besides a visit to Kaziranga, etc. we picnic’d close to an ancient Shiva temple where we got to feed furry little monkeys, goats, and cows - which we highly recommend. Mrs. Khadria organized a really nice bonfire for us to unwind on one of the days we wanted to bum around and relax. We got to try the local cuisine with veggies from their garden also. The management of the place was quite resourceful and they were able to arrange for us, at very short notice, stay at a magnificent bungalow in a tea estate, a really insightful tour of a small town (with commentary on how the local community, and economy has been transforming), and a bunch of other activities.
Those, like us, for whom it matters - this is an environmentally conscious, family-run business, that sources locally when it can. I really wish we see more of such places in India and across the world.
TLDR; Excellent place to explore Assamese countryside. Lean on the management to plan your trip.
