Location of the hotel has such a wonderful magnificent, the ruins and other natural features increases it's value to be more attractive,. narrow ways leading you going to the beach side with birds sounds are amazing. it's a dream to have such kind of views,.. Nice long Jet bar to enjoy the sunset. was such a nice being there.
We visited Protea Mbweni ruins twice in March. Very nice both times with very efficient & friendly staff. Good menue, both on the food & drinks side, with reasonable pricing. Very nice location where you can sit outside and enjoy the great views over the sea & sunset. Well cooked food served in reasonable time. Altogether a place really well worth visiting🦞
This hotel is very conveniently located = not far from the airport, and not far from Stone Town. The Reception area is in the Mbweni Ruins which gives it a very romantic touch when you arrive. The Hotel complex itself is in a wonderful tropical garden. The Beach is clean and lovely, Sunbathing is very relaxing. The Hotel has a walkway out into the ocean and a lovely cocktail desk. All staff friendly and helpful at all times, and food was also very decent and not costly. A great beach place for family or honeymooners!
First of all the location is magnificent, the ruins around the property are very mystic and give a unique charm to this hotel. Then the long white sand beach west oriented offers breathtaking sunsets. Staff is extremely friendly and rooms are spacious and comfortable. Finally it is perfectly located between Stone Town and the airport. Great stay !
We spent three days in Zanzibar before going on a Serengeti Safari. The hotel is small and intimate. The food is great, and there is a shuttle to Stone Town if you want shopping. There are only a small amount of rooms that are clean and modern. I would highly recommend staying there.
Avoid at all costs! This hotel is disgusting (see pictures) and should not be under the Marriott brand. The rooms were in such bad shape we had to book at another hotel nearby. Zanzibar is beautiful and has so many hotel options. Pick any other over this one.
I normally have a good experience at Marriot's hotels but this one was very different due to human factors. I booked a family room on the top floor with sea view month ahead. We arrived and were given a double room on a bottom floor, very small. We were told our room had problems with them roof due to heavy winds. A few hours later we saw that the room was occupied by another family. After many words with the supervisor we decided to leave the hotel and book somewhere else. The service and food in the restaurant was excellent. The location is very nice for sunset views and swimming when the tide is high.
Beautiful hotel with warm welcome, thanks to Mr. Nithan ji for all ur effort to make our stay comfortable. We love the place with rich history. Hotel provide nice shuttle service to stone town, lovely food, they provide on request special dinner on deck as well. Thanks team Protea Hotel Marriot, zanzibar
We spent three nights here is our two young children. The beach was calm and the small pool was appreciated for the hot afternoons. We ate at the restaurant for breakfast and dinner; the staff were wonderful and attentive. They even setup a table for us at the end of the pier one evening. The boat to Chumbe Island leaves from the pier and guests get a $20 discount. We went for a day to snorkel and explore. The rooms were super clean - there are only 13 rooms so the place is very chill. Enjoy.
It was historical place in full of green heaven. Very near to stone town and they have free shuttle service.near to the Beach and peaceful.very good breakfast, friendly staff.such a nice boutique hotel.Highly suggested.
