After Sarchu, just stay here for a couple of hours and move on. – Another place to avoid, if possible. Again, no hot water, electric power for a couple of hours at dinner time (with ups and downs). We had asked for extra blankets. They also provided those hot water bottles to heat the bed. The manager was friendly. Very basic (warm!) food, even soup and tea. Breakfast was from 6 am to 8 am, so at 6 there was this bang at the door announcing that breakfast was ready! The path from the tent and the restaurant was pretty dark (fortunately I always carry a torch when in India) and not very safe in the sense that it was very uneven with unstable rocks. Gloomy atmosphere. rete houses which may be more comfortable. Not too close to the wonderful lake, unfortunately.
Super comfortable place . Staff super attentive and quick . We opted for tent stay if was comfortable (, clean bathrooms more than what I had expected. View the resort r good too. Dinner was good and also had eggs.
We didn't book any hotel in Tso Moriri expecting that there wont be much crowd there. It was our mistake. It is preferable to book hotels in advance if you are travelling to Tso Moriri during the season. If you try to book on-spot, there is a possibility that you will be charged quite high. Hence, we need to visit several camps and hotels and did considerable negotiation to finalize this particular camp. We got a decent-sized room with attached bath. The one we took was close to the restaurant. The food served was Ok. However, the camp is quite far from the lake; though it has view from the camp
We had our passenger staying with this resort from 4-5th Sep for 4 double rooms. unfortunately, the pax had a breathing problem and had to cancel all 4 rooms. We spoke to the agent we had booked from and he informed that no refund is possible. However Mr Prashant Negi from hotel assured us that he will get the refund done for 1 room for sure and the 2nd room he will only try but looks difficult. After a lot of follow up he took my bank details and promised to send the refund. Again after a few days he said that he has already given the refund to the agent and hence he cannot give us anything. After speaking to the agent and her boss, we learnt that they have not recd any amount from the hotel. When we called back to Mr Prashant, he finally said that he cannot do any refund for any room. I think this man is absurd and does not know exactly what he says to who. After 3-4 months of follow up and a lot of calls to the hotel and the travel agent, he suddenly realized that no refund is possible from the hotel side. I fail to understand how such confused people survive at a managerial level of such a reputed hotel. Its not just about the refund but inconvenience of follow up for three months with the hotel and the agents that has severed our business relation with the property…
Full disclosure- Tso Moriri is not the easiest place to get to, and it’s extremely cold at night. And ALL options in town are a VERY rustic. I have no doubt this is the best in town. And they are lovely lovely people running the place. Beds are a bit stiff and a few more blankets would improve the stay. But overall amazing place!
