While researching on the property, we were slightly worried about the approach to the property. However, once you reach there, the peace, sights and hospitality is definitely worth the travel. Mr. Vikas and his team left no stone unturned in making us feel welcome. Further, the cottages deserve a special mention that are perfectly furnished and are very cozy for a family. They also have a cottage that offers in-house kitchenette, if you start missing home cooked food while away. Do consult the manager while planning your visit as you would need assistance once it start snowing. Our family had a wonderful time and we thank the entire staff for making this a memorable experience.

This property is extremely scenic. Nestled amongst beautiful deodar trees, with wonderful views of apple orchards, hills covered with swirling clouds, twinkling lights of the villages at night.. it all just adds to the charm and beauty of this place. It is a wonderful place to get your pets along. The best part is your pets are not restricted to the room, they are even allowed in the restaurant. Ample space for them to go for their walks. Staff is also friendly with pets. The cottages are comfortable with a good view. The attics are an added attraction for children. Room service is good. The staff is extremely courteous, pleasant and friendly. They go out of your way to make your stay comfortable. A special shout out to Monu, Goldie & Neha who made our stay memorable with their exceptional service. I think enough has already been mentioned by others about this serene and beautiful place. The service was excellent. The food quality and quantity was reasonably good as going for dinner and lunch is quite a task anyways as this place is like ~6km from the main highway NH-5 Shimla-Narkanda highway. So this was important. The rooms are spacious and designed keeping to give it a traditional feel yet equipped with all modern facilities. Location wise as I said, this is 6 km off from the main highway, passing through narrow road of the village , last 1.5 Km being totally off-road. One should be more than an average driver to maneuver through the narrow roads with twists and turns and must have a robust car. It was a really wonderful trip to woodvista cottages with my friends. We enjoyed a lot in the midst of the cedar forest. We also visited the 400 years old temple of Shoghu Devta, which was quite & beautiful. Location is perfect for peace and rejuvenation. Looking forward to coming again with my family.

The WoodVista Cottages are situated in a little offbeat village - Bakhog - in the Theog District in Shimla, Himachal. It is a serene location tucked away from the hubbubs and the rush of the now very commercial city of Shimla. Being around 25 kilometers from the Shimla, the approach involves a bit of an off road drive (approximately 20 minutes from the main highway) - but something easily manageable in any vehicle - even if you drive a sedan. Reaching there, you will find a warm welcoming reception from happy to help people - the friendly estate manager, Vikas and his excellent team of associates (especially Neha and Goldie). The whole estate is surrounded by a beautifully maintained garden of indigenous mountain flora, and lot of sprawling, natural jungles all around. And not to forget the abounding apple trees! For your stay, they have the option of 7-8 cottages, each built using specific types of wood and aptly named as well - the cottages have had their fair share of hosting several celebrities too! Ask Vikas and he will surely have some stories to share! Also, some of their cottages have duplex setups along with kitchenettes too - if you want to do some home cooking while on vacation. Taking about fun - they have something to keep your family members engaged - like cycling, Badminton and even a snooker table! They also provide free Internet (Wi-Fi) with good enough speeds (workation anyone?). And if you are the adventurous kind, exploring around is mighty fun as there are many trails to take and every day can be a different journey. Mind you, it is essentially a jungle all around, so keep walking and you can never know what you find! But if you are here just to relax, have some quiet time, maybe catch up on your yesterdays with your drive-along-friends (over beer of course), that’s fine too! Sit outside in the wide open porch and chat under the stars with your favorite drinks in hand! Not to mention, they also have some highly skillful folks in the kitchen, who work their magic with fresh, home grown vegetables, fresh picked and grounded spices, and dishes ranging from the awesome Pahadi Chicken - a local delight for the chicken lovers and for the vegetarians - the excellent Paneer Lababdar! I travel a lot for work and we went to Chandigarh for a wedding and decided to extend our vacation. We stayed at this amazing property for two days and it was one of our best stays in Himachal. We stayed in three different properties but this turned out to be the best. Ashish is one of the best managers I have met who carefully heard about our needs and ensured that we got what we asked. The place has best food and the staff is amazing. I mean it. They were so nice and courteous that we wanted to extend our trip. The view was good but it’s the calm around the property that made our trip memorable. It is perfect for families and the rooms and incredible. They have an attic which is awesome. It’s a home away from home with amazing food with great portions. If you are anywhere at Theog, this place is a must visit. Beautiful place, lovely cozy wooden and stone chalets. Warm hospitality by Vikas and Neha. Food quality was good. Service with a smile. Arjun and Goldy. It was Holi so they made special efforts with decor, music and colours. Nice place with great scenery to relax and unwind.

Our experience at wood vista was one of the best experience we ever had in Himachal Pradesh. The place was very peaceful and serene and the best part of the hotel was it's peaceful environment.
