Do yourself a favor and AVOID this place ... it's a complete scam, service is awful, the place run-down, filthy, ugly, and insanely overpriced... you don't get what you see in the pictures. SHAME on the owners. Also, it's a pitty because the structure must have been a beautiful place once ...
The street noise coming into the rooms here actually had us laughing after a few nights. Thank god for earplugs that fit. Everything imaginable seems to come down the road right next to the hotel - people, motorcycles, trucks, horses, and cars blaring advertisements for the circus. No exaggeration. This is on top of the other noises outside (dogs barking, roosters, music) and noises from within the thin-walled establishment (conversations, love making). The design of the old house is interesting and the location is close to the square, but the place needs some infrastructure work to be properly converted from somebody's house to a proper inn. Staff was a little cold. Breakfast changes daily.
We stumbled upon this gem on our way to see a hostel that was advertised in our guide book. In comparison to the hostel, this was the perfect choice! Clean, pretty, and charming--this hotel looks like a super old house with beautiful dark hardwood floors and ceilings. The owner (a tattooed man) seems cold at first, but is actually amazing! He's super nice if you actually talk to him, and got up early to make us breakfast before our 7:30am hike! We stayed two nights and had two different breakfasts, both prepared by him. Extra: the bed is really comfortable. Just the right balance between hard and soft. The sheets look and smell delightfully clean and there are four pillows. Yum! The only negatives I'd say are the hot water isn't reliable -- you have to let it run for a while before it gets hot, and if too many people shower at once, it starts alternating between hot and cold (but hey! This is Colombia!) -- and there's music playing for most of the day. But he turns it off at night ;) …
Amaizing Well located in walking distance of the main plaza, close to cafe's and restaurants, and the Calle Real, Comfortable, good service, breakfast included and most important, family friendly as well as couples
We stayed for just one night. Three (3) blocks to Salento's main park, colonial architecture and nature atmosphere, nice food, nice bed, nice stuff, bathroom could improve but still not bad, quiet and clean. All you need for a few days stay in Salento.
