Detailed Reviews
We were at Olengoti Eco Safari Camp from 9th to 11 th October 2023, our third camp for a safari itinary coming from Lake Nakuru to the Masai Mara National reserve Kenya . We really enjoyed our stay of two days at this authentic and beautiful camp. We were greated very well at our arrival by the staff with the Kakuna Matata song with Stella and all the staff including the Masai . Our tent was situated just in front of the Talek river. We were able to enjoy the hippos and crocodile just in front . The camp is so confortable and we slept so well in the beds with the moskito net. We could take our hot shower with the help and coordination of the Masai staff that prepare the hot shower in the tank at our convenience even at 05 30 am in the morning, they are so exceptional . All bottle water is provided to drink or brushing teeth. Everything that you need is in the tent and camp. The scenery is magic and the staff are so awesome to make you feel so romantic for all the meals and a very nice bonfire. They are at your service to be on time for the game drives. We ate all outside with a very romantic setting, You need to put protection against moskito at night. All the meals are with incredible choices and serve with an impeccable service from all the staff. , All the staff are so accomodating and are always there to pick up or to accompany you to return to your tent as you have to be careful of the hippos or other animals. We felt always very safe . During the afternoon after a game drive after our lunch we visited a masai village just nearby that can be reached by walking or by car. It is $ 30 US per person but it is so well worthed. This privileged and so special visit is memorable with all the nice people adults and children in the village to understand their culture, behavior and needs. We really recommend this eco Safari camp so well located and so close to do the games drive either for a few hours and coming back to rest and go back later for evening game drives that are a must at the Masai Mara national reserve where we saw so many animals and the memorable lioness and cheetahs in these so beautiful landscapes of plains of the Masai Mara.

We loved it at this camp. We were in tent cabins along the Talek river which had flush toilets and showers with running water. The cabins were nicely furnished and comfortable. It had a small deck area that was close to the hippos and baboons. Lots of animals were seen on this property. The lunch was outside with a view along the river with a great view of many hippos - and we had breakfast here too. The evening meal, was under an area of beautiful lights and was magical. The masai helped us at night or when it got dark to get back and forth in case we ran into some animals. Very nice guys and girls who spoke great English. The manager was nice and made sure she was around to help if needed. Very enjoyable time here and the food was delicious at dinner!

Amazing lodge!!!!
The whole team is infinitely kind.
the rooms are magnificent. Worthy of a 4 star.
The restaurant is delicious. The chef prepares succulent meals and especially breakfasts to take away for a picnic in the bush, at a level that I have never seen!
The location of this lodge is perfect and being able to dine 15 meters from the hippos is priceless!
The evenings around the fire with the Masai warriors also have their effect!!!
In short, an incredible and eco-responsible experience. What a joy to have stayed at Olengoti's

I wouldn’t recommend booking this property if you want to feel at all welcomed unless you are Spanish.
We had the joy of spending two nights being completely ignored by the owner/manager who clearly only wanted to spend her time with the Spanish guests being Spanish herself.
The only interaction that we had with her was when we went across to ask for some water in our tent as we had no way of washing our hands or flushing the toilet. Only to be met with her being hostile and rudely telling us that we needed to request with them if we wanted water, which ironically we were doing, baring in mind we had just arrived.
She spent our entire stay mingling with all of the Spanish guests, drinking and smoking with them at their preferred table, I say preferred as we were sat under the sun as they were all having a great time in the shade during meal times.
As advertised the two queen beds were in fact two single beds pushed together, not great for couples.
Please keep in mind that wifi is only “allowed” for a few hours at dinner time which makes for a great dinner experience as everyone is glued to their phones as it’s the only time you are able to get in contact with anyone or catch up on correspondences. You are told that it will be enabled after your game drives however this does not take into account those who are on their full day game drives returning to camp around 4pm leaving you with nothing to do for hours. We had to ask for wifi to be switched on to be able to send an urgent email before 6pm.
Having no other times that you are able to be online it caused stress for us and those expecting to hear from us.
There are no toilet facilities other than those in your tent that you are able to use leaving you with no option other than to go back to your room each time you would like to use the bathroom or wash your hands depending if there is any water available to you.
The only reason I’ve given this two stars is simply down to the local staff who are incredibly nice and wanting to do as much as possible for you in every way they can.

I'll be honest, I've given this only three stars for several reasons, lets start with the positives;
The staff, they are such beautiful, friendly and helpful people.
The camp itself, the pictures speak for themselves, its luxury in the ultimate location.
The tents are stunning, the setting is amazing, overlooking a watering hole with 20+ hippos whilst having lunch.
The food, really good tasty fresh food considering where you are.
However, now the negatives;
The owner is so rude. Does not want to know anything about you, unless you are Spanish, being Spanish herself.
We ate lunch in the glaring midday sun while she sat in a nicer shaded area with a big Spanish group, being loud, smoking cigarettes and drinking beer.
Shortly after arriving I went to reception to ask if we could get some water to have a shower. While speaking to a staff member she jumped in pretty abruptly shouting at me that I needed to request water, which ironically was exactly what I was doing. I felt rather attacked if I'm honest and went back to my partner in the room really upset.
Not once aside from that did she approach us, intoduce herself or show any interest as she did with the Spanish group.
The biggest issue I have with this property is the lack of accommodation provided for our safari driver. It is common practice to put safari drivers up in the accommodation the guests choose to stay at. When we arrived we were horrified to hear that our driver (and many others) were told there was no space for them and they would have to go elsewhere. Not only that but there was no help, guidance or interest in aiding any of these men find alternative accommodation. In fact, the drivers went to another camp next to Olengoti where they have stayed in and they were the ones to help arrange alternative accommodation while the drivers took us all out on our afternoon game drives. Not only is this unacceptable, but it does beg the question what would have happened if there was an issue during the night and we needed our driver who ended up being a very long drive away? Not only that but the accommodation for drivers is meant to be included in the price we pay and those drivers then had to go and pay for their own stays.
Its rather greedy to care more about making money than put any consideration into where drivers will sleep and it really put me off the Olengoti.

This was a very unique accommodation. It is set on the Marek river - on a horseshoe curving of the River. We stayed in the cabins, that had a zippered back wall that faced the river.
Down in the river below were a big pod of hippos that enjoyed the waters. At night they come up from the river to eat and you can hear them in your backyard. Across the river was a baboon area and we could watch them come and go. Monkeys also roamed the area.
I really enjoyed this place. The manager is a female and very involved. We ate outside at large tables and at night it was under beautiful lights. The employees were mainly Masaai and so nice and helpful. The meals were lovely - there were several courses.
There was no internet in the rooms however just a few steps away was the main tent where internet was available. We had great electricity to use to charge our equipment in the rooms. The bathroom had a comfortable shower and toilet area.

This was my accommodation for my 2 day safari in the masai mara. I was very impressed. All the staff was so kind and professional especially stellar, she a God send, she asked me if I had my tanzanian entry covidhealth form for tanzania before I left, I didn't. She even helped me with, bless her for this!! I'm assuming she's the manager with this kind of hospitality and attentiveness. Now for everything else. Breakfast is either served by a river looking down to hippos and dinner was served in a color lamped lit up around trees table setting, made for an incredible setting and for photography. The food was also to die for. I'm so glad I stayed here, it was a great contribution to my 15 day holiday. May this place prosper in the future, stay here!! You won't regret it.

We had a magnificent two nights stay at Olengoti in their luxury tents.
The location of the camp to get to the Masai Mara is great. The tents were super clean and beautifully designed. Main dining area was also stunning. Great food - large portions.
The best part of our stay was the staff and the hospitality - Stella the manager, our waiter Francis, our Masai Sam, and the many other staff members were so friendly, attentive and kind. We also loved the lunch spot over looking the hippos, dining at night listening to the hippos outside underneath fairy lights and planting a tree on the property

Do you want to experience life in a safe environment with river horses, monkeys, birds and giraffes?
What an experience! What a service! For some beautiful smiles!!! What a kindness!!
Just outside the Alpha Road and in the middle of the animals, you will find a camp beyond the usual!!
‘Room’
The tent is a luxurious tent set up on a plateau. The tent contains bed, drawer, night table, lamps etc. Behind a curtain there are two sinkers. On one side a toilet and on the other side a shower.
Restaurant
Dinner in the evening was served on a long table out with only bushes as walls and ceiling.
Breakfast was served on the edge of the river, with river horses grinding and splashing nearby.
After the advent of darkness
...the masai set up a fire that one could sit by. The starry sky lights up. And lights were hung up around the area. When one was going to or from his tent in the dark, one was followed by a masai. For security.
A unique memory for life!

We spent 2 nights at Olengoti and celebrated our son’s 16th birthday last week . Olengoti is an extremely charming place, breakfasts, lunch and dinner was magical, viewing the hippos as we had breakfast and lunch, with a magical dinner under the trees. The hospitality of the staff was outstanding , especially Stella, the manager who ensured our stay was very comfortable, and was very caring towards my elderly parents who accompanied us, and Frances . On the final day, they surpassed all our expectations with the birthday surprise they had lined up for our son, with a cake and beautiful song in Swahili, with a tree planting ceremony for my son. We would highly recommend this place and would love to go back. Thank you to everyone at Olengoti
