We actually did not sleep here overnight, but just did the half-day excursion that they organize to get to know how life in the villages looks like (we stayed at this house for lunch). It was a really interesting experience, and the family that runs the business is just lovely. The village is about 45min from Jodhpur. I would highly recommend to stay here or at least to do the excursion (called Village Safari)!
Staying with Chhotu and his family for 4 days was most definitely a highlight of our 9 weeks backpacking in India. We like to get off the tourist trail and experience other cultures firsthand. This homestay offered exactly that, which is why we liked it so much. The family are Dhurrie (rug) weavers. They are very entrepreneurial and they run a cooperative selling rugs made by many dhurrie weavers in the area. They have also started up a small homestay. The family take real pride in looking after their property, they present it very well and keep it clean. We spent a lot of time hanging out with the family in their communal outdoor area. Chhotu speaks fantastic English and is a great host. He spent a lot of time with us - chatting about family life and showing us around…
