Anyone visiting India would be cheating himself or herself if they didn't get a taste of Indian countryside. It's not that difficult. Jodhpur is surrounded by natural beauty on all sides and within a few minutes, one can be up in the village, where peace reigns: the only sounds may be those of the birds or an occasional buffalo. From the aspects of proximity to the city as well as the countryside, access and utter, unspoiled beauty, staying at Chhotaram Prajapat's Homestay in Salawas is a good choice. The little village is just 20 Kms. from city center. For those who enjoy cycling, bird-watching or merely relaxing in the peace and quiet, this area is simply perfect. It moves at the typical slow pace of such villages, and you may remark that a lot of people seem to spend a lot of time just sitting around chatting. Well, they do. Nobody here seems to die of stress! Jodhpur is a fascinating city with much to recommend it, but as with all Indian cities, it is not peaceful, so even if you choose to spend the day shopping or sightseeing, its certainly recommended to travel the short distance to Chhotaram's homestay for a perfect evening and a peaceful night. Cmhomestay has a friendly, intimate atmosphere that will calm and relax you. We can provide lunchtime Tipical Rajasthani food, delicious evening meals. Bicycles available. Laundry service. Massage. Camel-riding and countryside trekking arranged. In the room rates traditional welcome with tica, chai/coffee, breakfast is inclusive. We arrange village safari formally known as a BISHNOI VILLAGE SAFARI at competitive rates.Except all this, you can enjoy shopping, trekking, village safari, visit to historical places, bird watching etc. There are many transport facilities which can make your trip enjoyable and comfortable too. To sum up, Chhotaram Prajapat’s homestay will be memory to cherish which you will never be able to forget for the whole of your life.So what are you waiting, start packing your bags and just land at this heavenly paradise.

We were welcomed with a chai and a Hindi blessing to become part of this wonderful family. 15 people live in this homestay and make you feel totally welcome and cared for. We took the tour around the village and were shown the various crafts how they made pots and we were shown wild life as well. Our hut was comfortable and warm enough. We shared food with the family. It was an experience which I can highly recommend to people who want a budget rural experience. We enjoyed being shown how to cook the evening curry meal.We bought a lovely Dhurry made on the property by the family.

The family who operate this homestay near a tiny village about an hour’s drive from Jodhpur have lived here for four generations. They have gradually extended their houses or built new ones and in 2006 they constructed a number of huts using traditional cow dung and plaster etc. Each hut also has a large stone built toilet/shower. There is either air-con or a fan. There is solar heated hot water. Overall the effect is cosy and pleasing. The huts have to be constantly re-plastered to mitigate the effects of sun and rain. The home stay really is just that; you are invited inside the family home, to sit on the rug on the floor and chat to Dad about politics, education, the history of local area etc., whilst Mum cooks on an open fire and the kids do their homework, all this in the

We stayed with Chhotu and his lovely family in the traditional mud and dung round huts (with a modern bathroom). Dinner was prepared by Mumta (Chhotu’s wife) over an open fire. We then ate dinner with the extended family on the floor. It was such a great experience, cozy and welcoming. Chhotu also took us on an awesome walk to watch the sunset on the rock and told us tall stories about peacock procreation (!). Chhotu also taught us how to make traditional salawas interlock weaving. We ended up buying 4 lovely rugs from his co-op which we will treasure. We did a village safari in his Jeep too. On the Safari we went to see a water-pot potter (amazing and entertaining) and a textile recycling centre but I feel the merchandise from the recycling centre was a bit pricey. The best

Although only spending one night here we had a truly relaxing time and were so welcomed and looked after by Chhotaram and his family. It was such a love experience to stay in one of their beautiful mud huts which are very cosy and well equipped. We were given the most delicious home cooked typical Rajasthani food and did not leave hungry! It was a very relaxing time spent here and I would love to go back when I come back to India again.

Like other reviews have written about Chottoram's - this is a truly authentic Rajasthani experience of living rurally with a family. We actually arrived at Chottoram's not feeling very well and were taken care of with great kindness. The home-stay was a great place to recuperate and be looked after by this gorgeous family. The accommodation was simple as described but tastefully decorated with huge comfortable beds. The family offer lots of experiences and organise trips that further explore the locality - we only wish we had booked to stay longer than 2 nights to learn more about life in Salawas and the nearby desert. Hopefully we will return one day.
