A Culture Unravelled. A desert by definition, for those who value the beauty of culture, Rann is a vast ocean of cultural beauty. With a glorious past captured in its traditions this is a culture that not only preserves its essence but also celebrates it. Each village has its unique craft that has been mastered over centuries by the talented and uniquely artistic people of Kutch. Machine-made works of art pale in comparison to the exquisite craftsmanship of the Kutchi women who work with meticulous detail and astonishing accuracy. The variety of crafts range from weaving, patchwork, block printing, bandhani, tie-and-dye, rogan-art and other ethnic styles of embroidery, to pottery, wood-carving, metal-crafts and shell-work. With the specially organised fair, Rann Utsav is truly a festival that celebrates the varied art forms and handicrafts arising from different parts of Kutch.

Rann Utsav - The Tent City hotel garners praise for its impeccable cleanliness and a plethora of activities, including the appreciated R3 spa and cultural programs. While the rooms offer a great ambiance, some guests find the cost steep, questioning the overall value. The atmosphere is celebrated for its cultural offerings, though a few find the entertainment too brief. Visitors often laud the service for its professionalism and attentiveness, adding to the hotel's well-maintained charm.

We were three couples booked for 1 night 2 days stay on a full moon night in February.
We had our own vehicle so opted out of pick up and drop facility hence can’t comment on that.
The check in was very smooth facilitated by young interns from hospitality.
Our bags were tagged and sent to our cluster while we were directed to large reception area, there was a cool welcome drink.
Our tents were already allocated, meal coupons handed over.Meal time and entertainment information was constantly announced.
There are about 15/16 clusters of 35 AC tents.
Other types of tents are also available, each with a designated dining area.
Dining halls are large, air conditioning is adequate, plenty of buffet tables, there is live entertainment with vocal and instrumental Bollywood music.
Breakfast, lunch, high tea and dinner are served efficiently.
Only problem is the veg food served lacks character. It’s typical run of the mill ,mass produced food .
Considering that it’s a fairly expensive package, the food quality, presentation and variety leaves a lot to be desired.
The tents are spacious, with pleasant ethnic decor.Hot water was adequate.
On full moon night there are 2 safaris- one at 5.00 pm by bus and camel cart to the white rann for the sunset returning at 7.30 ,and again at 10.00 pm ,returning at midnight for the full moon.
There is a stage where entertaining shows start at 9.00 pm. There are music bands, traditional and fusion garba- all very high quality.
Funky motorcycle rickshaws are available gratis inside the tent city for local transport.
Save a few hours for shopping. There are lots of shops within the city and just outside the gate selling beautiful handcrafted kutchi embroidery, artefacts, footwear.
Prices are reasonable,bargains possible.
If you happen to go to Kala Dungar shopping there is cheapest.

Our stay at tent city dhordo was something we had never imagined. A self sufficient city comprising entirely of tents, this fantastic place is more of an experience than just a stay. To begin with, the tents (we stayed in the premium version) are super luxurious and comfortable. The bathroom is big and three quarters built up, so you never feel as if you're exposed to the elements. The food, pure vegetarian (non vegetarians will not miss their meat,Trust me) is a sumptuous and delectable spread of Gujarati and Jain cuisine, with smatterings of Punjabi, Italian (read pasta) and Chinese (err...noodles,fried rice and Manchurian), punctuated with chach (staple at every meal). We gorged on all the ammunition this delicious buffet had to offer.. dhokla, fafda, thepla, khakra, undiya, rotla, patra, gota, lilva kachori, dhokli nu shaak, sev khamni...(I'll stop because my mouth is watering again).
The city itself is huge, with built up roads and insta worthy spots all over. There's an adventure station for those who want to feel less guilty after all that food, and a shopping haat for all mothers so they can keep out of their kids way and let them run free on the vast open spaces strewn all over. There's also a library, bonfire areas and a huge arena for the cultural entertainments that happen every night.
The package (we took the 3N4D) is well chalked out, with sunset and sunrise visits to the rann (5kms from tent city), trips to mandvi beach (140kms away, but worth it),to kala doongar(highest point of Kutch, must visit for the spectacular views).
The rann is the main character of this drama called Kutch. It's unbelievable, to say the least... ethereal, endless, ephemeral. You'll want to dance to the lively melodies being rendered by the musicians sitting there, you'll want to gaze in speechless wonderment as the sun sets or rises, you'll want to just sit and soak it all in.
This review will not be complete without a special mention of the staff at tent city. They're cordial, warm, attentive, and concerned. They'll find you wherever you are, to tell you that the bus is waiting. They'll get you haldi doodh at 10.30 pm if you ask for it. They'll even arrange for permission from the BSF and a vehicle if you have a whim of visiting the rann two days before full moon (tent city does night trips to the rann a day before,on,and a day after full moon). The chef Will Go around talking to the guests at meal time, and sometimes will offer you special kolhapuri chai (yumm!) When all you asked for was a cup of tea.
This year is unique for the rann utsav as there aren't many tourists. Normally the place is choc a bloc. Tent city has its Covid precautions In place, so if you're looking for a memorable holiday, this is the place to stay.

The tent city was very well managed and worked like a well oiled machine. We took their bus from the Bhuj railway station, where they have a lounge. The lounge has all the basic facilities like washrrom, small pantry, seating etc.You just need to show your voucher and submit your luggage. Your luggage would be sent directly to your assigned tents so you dont need to worry abt it.On board you are served refreshments, told abt the entire itinerary and any queries are cleared. They also take a 15 min break enroute but there is nothing much on the way just barren land.Once you reach you checkin which is again very smooth and are free to do anything until 5 pm when you are taken to see the sunset.Everything is very timely and there are people to help you all around. They have carts and autos to take you around the tent city. The tent city had many paid activities like para motoring, zipping etc and a cultural program and star gazing at night. Both of them are worth the time.Looking at the scale of the tent even the food arrangements were appluadable. They serve you mainly gujratai vegetarian cuisine and also have a jain counter. We stayed at deluxe swiss cottage and it was as expcted, nothing to highlight and no complains. We opted for a mattress for our son but did not use it as rats were roaming around(Due to the huge open area). The single beds were large enough and me and my son were able to sleep comfortably,so opting for a mattress is a waste in my opinion. Also it was pretty chilly and windy and there was no use of AC instead we used heaters :). All in all a good one time experience if someone wants to go to Rann and live in a tent.

Not a place to visit
Too far off from the nearest operational international airport which happens to be Ahmedabad ( around 9:30 hrs journey by road though roads are good)
Reached Tent City No Welcome Staff inattentive talking amongst themselves giving two hoots to the arriving Guests & gave a feeling that ‘ Why Have You Come To Disturb Them’
After checkin were told that the bus for the White Sands for the sunset has already left 10 mins back that was when someone from the Tent City Talked to me the previous day and was aware that we would be coming from Delhi by Air and would be Driving down from Ahmedabad which is 9 hrs 30 min drive
After a lot of cajoling and some angry diatribes a vehicle was arranged to guide us to the White Sands for the sunset and that too in our own vehicle
After reaching back to the Tent City we found our way to the Tent with no one to guide to the tent. It seemed that ‘ ok now you have booked with us and made the payments now Do every thing your self’
The tent was big. Had a kettle in the tent for tea and some 3 pkts of snacks. There was a Mini Refrigerator but not working and was never. mentioned. The mattresses were lumpy the Taps in the bathroom were leaking
The food was just passable, fixed menu, No choices, had no culinary thought just make some food and serve the buffet had no distinctive flavours
We were told and was elaborated in their Brochure that there would be entertainment evenings in the respective cluster but there was none
All in All not a festival of any great oomph Best avoided

I stayed here for 2 nights and 3 days. Cluster E, Tent # 7. I stayed in a non-ac tent and it was nice and clean. My only complain are the mosquitoes in the bathroom area. They have provided mosquito repellent in the main area of the tent but considering the army of mosquitoes in the bathroom I would suggest to provide one there too. The visit to the white desert was nice on the first day followed by the full moon visit at night to the Safed Rann. The main attraction for me was the amazing food served on all the days. 4 course meal for lunch and dinner and the food options for breakfast and evening Hi Tea were equally great. The Gujarati cuisine is mind blowing. The 2nd day visit to Kalo Dungar was average. The sunset being the prime attraction. On the last day when they dropped us to Bhuj railway station, on the way they covered the Swami Narayan Temple which was magnificent but they gave us hardly 20mins to spend at such an exquisite location. Although the visit to the museum was cancelled due to covid and they could have allowed us more time but they seemed to be in a great hurry to get rid of us. Also at the dome near the station, initially we were told that we can keep our luggage

Thanks for writing us back and we do appreciate your efforts taking out time and sharing your experience. Reference to mosquitos please note that Tent City is a temporary infrastructure located in remote area and inspite of all precautionary methods such as regular pest control , daily fogging etc. such incidents do take place and spoils the experience. However as we are committed to provide the best services to all our guests we are exploring more innovative methodology to avoid such incidents in the coming next season. Beside this we will also instruct our tour guides to make sure to take guests to alternative places in case time permits to ensure everyone's satisfaction.

We were guests at Tent City for 3 days & 2 nights package during Full moon days , 10th January-2020 upto 12th January-2020. We really enjoyed this trip. However we were surprised to see inexperienced staff at Tent city resort , most of them were young interns who were doing their internships as trainees. Hence the Hospitality aspect was compromised. We were very disappointed with lack of information flow from Tent city Staff / Tour guides during our stay & sight seeing trips . Food was excellent & spread was quite good. Tents were very good & decently maintained. Paid Activities inside Tent city were ordinary. We strongly felt that the amount we paid for this stay at Tent city was expensive compared to the quality of Hospitality we received. Some staff at Front desk of Bhuj railway station counter were not upto the mark. However all of us enjoyed this trip. Sincere request to the Tent city management to ensure that proper tour guidance & proper information flow should be given to all the guests by hiring experienced & trained staff.

Rann Utsav .the tent city is a must visit place in India . It is a family supportive place . families with small kids can also be too comfortable here as the tent city has all the amenities for all people .

The food spread is ofcourse vegetarian but is a lavish and tasty spread with all the flavours and delicacies of colorful Gujrat.

The tent city is beautifully designed giving you a feel of the palaces and tents made over huge landscape . The tent city is has photo spots at every nook and corner. Poto shooting is the most important hobby of every individual young or old in today's world .

Now the main attraction is the Rann . The white sparkling salt spread over 60 km of land naturally formed due to the extreme weather conditions at day and night . The joy ride on the camel cart is very exciting . The cart takes you to the enchanting Rann and one is mesmerized to see this beauty with the sun setting on one side and reflection on the Rann salt . Never miss to take loads of photos here ..

Do wear colorful clothes for awesome pictures against the with Rann .

The Haat at the tent city has exclusive collection of handicrafts and authentic Kutch works woven by the localites of Gujrat.

Cultural event was a treat to the eyes and ears .it was soul touching to hear traditional songs and enjoy the performance .

The saff of the tent city are always helpful and are ready at at call . They are extremely polite and well-mannered and also well dressed.

Pls do ask for Mahesh Barot to click your awesome photos .
We also thank Mr. Kapil Verma to jump to our rescue and reach us to the station .

Be colorful at the colorfilled Gujrat Rann .

I sincerely request my government to put some extra effort on cleanliness of toilets at the Rann festival. We come from distant places and we expect essential services like urinals and drinking water. Please take care of such things as it is an international tourist attraction.

This is luxury you don't realise while booking. From the accomodation to the lavish buffet spreads, cultural programmes to activity centres catering to all age groups, shopping haats to local trips to the beach, palace, hill tops, breathtaking sunrise and sunsets, the way salt tickles all your senses, this was a holiday that should last longer!

We went from Delhi to Ahemdabad to Dhordo. Ahemdabad to dhordo drive was taxing. Kids get restless on long road trips. But the highway is gorgeous, and a pit-stop at Bhuj helped recharge.

It was a great experience but some things could be improved such as better quality furniture in premium tents. We had 5 tents among 10 people. Also, a heater was supposed to be included in our tents but it was not available. If these issues were to be solved, it would be a much better experience.

Gujarat is a dry state you can get alcohol only if you have a license and from certain places only. All type of vegetarian food is available at the tent city. The activities are a bit overpriced but okay We paid 3000 rupees per person for about one minute of paragliding
