The ancient fishermen hamlet of Pudukkupam established during the Chola period (IX-XII century) is located 10 kms south of Pondicherry city, in the Coromandel coast of the Bay of Bengal. Being near to the estuary of the Chunambar river and the Indian ocean it has a privileged ecological position, not far from the roman ruins of Arikkamedu, a port established in the first century of our era. It is between this hamlet and Pooranankuppam, the rice bowl of this region.

First of all let me say that the resort itself is beautiful. I really liked the resort once inside the resort. But getting to the resort is another matter. Why the hotel cannot spend a bit more fixing 100m of 4 wheel drive worthy strip that cannot be called a road is unfathomable. Unless you have a car of your own or are ready to shell out a lot for cabs or uber, this resort is not for you. The place is quite off the charts and one has to negotiate a poorly drivable almost village to reach the place. The resort is also on the outskirts of the city with no private beach of it's own.

The resort however is very nicely laid out with beautiful landscaping. What lets it down are the little things that prevent it from being a world class resort. Unless you know Tamil, communicating with staff (except at reception) is a hassle. The cleanliness in the rooms leave a lot to be desired. TV kept conking out everyday, till we became sick of calling housekeeping to fix it. Somehow, the management is stingy in providing toilet papers and hand towels and we had to repeatedly ask for it EVERYDAY. The original bath towels provided were white once upon a time but had turned grey after repeated washing. The edges were frayed and in tatters. The quilt covers had holes in them and were thinned down from repeated washing. Yes they were clean but no resort should have linen with holes in them and frayed out appearance. And why did the management not think of installing either shower screens or glass shower cubicle to prevent the whole bathroom floor from getting wet, every time we had showers?

On the other hand, breakfast every morning was really good. But again let down by the limited amount of seating available for such a big resort. Again, it's inexplicable why the dining area barely had 20-25 tables for such a big resort.

The entertainment facilities were nice and the resort on the outside looked well looked after. The staff were really polite and are the main assets. It's a pity that due to improper management and the will to do better prevents this beautiful property from rising to the next level of class as far as resorts go.

The resort has true potential to attract tourists from all over the world. But unfortunately, they are far from being ready to do so right now. For the price of the rooms, a lot more is expected in return.

The property is very good. Very well maintained good amenities...specially for kids lot of activities. Close to the beach so easy access to watch sunrise and take a dip in water. Although the beach as they say it's private needs to be maintained and cleaned. It's very dirty and no place to sit and relax. Also the staff needs to be more customer friendly including the front office , room service and on ground staff. Beach towels should be provided by the hotel as they claim they have but was never given to us by the security at the beach gate. Also English communication needs to be well versed with the staff as it's difficult to communicate with them for guests who don't know Tamil

it is located well out of pondicherry. makes sense when you have your own transport. ola and uber drivers often refuse to ply and charge up of Rs. 600 to get there. the pool is clean. the rooms need better maintainence - our toilet had a stench. the hotel is located close to an "essentially private clean beach". food is good. the hotel has some dormitories near our rooms that allow the local populace to come and many of them just come for liquor. We had to get to Aravind pondicherry 3.5km away to board our bus. the hotel receptionist booked an auto for us promising a fare of Rs. 100/-. on reaching however the auto driver was adamant on Rs.200/- called the receptionist on his phone who also supported him

I will recommend this great resort for a short or long break. There is a 6 am to 6 pm beach access. The rooms are great but could be better without the few mosquitoes that are constantly in residence. I do not know how they get in! The food is truly amazing... the breakfast spread is HUGE!!!!! The pool is great and there is a long walking path available. Buggies are available for those who find the walk from the front office to the rooms, difficult. Cycles are also available. Service is great. All outdoor games are available .

i stayed in an executive pool room which costed me 21k per day for 4 adults. but the room didn't have any basic amenities like shampoo, body lotion, shaving kit, etc. for everything i called to the house keeping and got them. Even the restaurent orders took more than 1 hour for an coffee. Also the food taste and quantity was not up to the price they charged. Rs.800+tax for an bad NV buffet and Rs.740+tax for an full tandoori chicken which looked like an half plate in quantity. The Staffs also looked so un trained who cannot clean the over night plates kept outside the room and they replaced stained bed spreads and faded towels during changing. Then the bats and balls kept for indoor and out door games were totally broken and in a bad shape. No use in playing them too. Also the resort allows many groups inside for an day visit to play the games.they make so much of noise and spoil the ambience. So over all it was a big dissapointing for me and my family during our very first visit there. so pls DO NOT stay in such a bad resort who are so greedy in making money only.

I used to like this place when they were service based and not money based.

A water bottle is 60 rs! You can charge whatever how much ever. But why 60 rs for a water bottle? They use the remote location to scam money out of the visitors

Now everything here is money, Only one front desk staff will be frndly the tall guy is just a joke to service industry. And don't get me started on the in room dinning person, uff. This place isn't worth the money your gonna spend here trust me.

All said, this resort is neat and clean, food is OK. But breakfast is a joke

I asked for a French Omelette, you know what the cook told " we are told not to cook that". I was like what? It's cheaper than masala Omelette to make. It has become a budget oriented hotel. And if they keep this thieving ways. They will go out of business soon. I think you'll spend the same at le pondy. They have expensive room, but they stand for something Premium. This is a honest review

An excellent resort for leisure and vacation. Spent 5 days with family and 2 small kids.
Pros
1. Excellent facilities.
2. Rooms with attached pool with option to chose either indoor or outdoor pool.
3. Excellent kids play area for kids below 5 to 6 yrs.
4. Excellent sports facilites including tennis, cricket, badminton, TT for grown up kids.
5. The resort also has 3 common outdoor pools with excellent surroundings though closed due to the pandemic.
6. Private beach at the sea end open from 6am to 6pm.
7. The resturant prepares a Good breakfast and tasty food for other meals.
8. Spacious rooms.
9. Very courteous staff.
10. The resort itself is spacious and self contained and if one wants can spend days i side it with plenty of activities.
11. Open air theatre playing movie on weekends.
Cons. not many
1. Beach could have some Beach umbrellas. Even though the resort provides beach umbrellas it is difficult to fix them in the beach.
2. Weekends are a busy time. The staff finds it difficult to provide services in quick time due to the rush. although the weekdays i stayed there there was absolutely no such problem.
3. No sea view rooms.

Recently (Feb’20) I have visited in this resort and stayed in executive deluxe room. I can say so many negative points during this stay. The resort services are really ruined my vacation.

Executive deluxe room is not that worth to stay. Extra bed provided is very cheap quality.
Food delivery is not on time. They said it’s food delivery available from 9 am to 10.30 pm. But they are not delivering as they said and only limited time it’s available. Food varieties also very minimal.
Room services are provided after multiple reminders to them only.

I suggest to find better resort with money your are spending in this resort.

value for 💸💰.Resort is very huge property. If u are not a person who criticize petty issues,u vil enjoy a lot.Beach is good to visit in the morning,as in evening times, there mi8 be people from locals roaming there.Rooms were good.Resort has 3 swimming pools and kids enjoy there a lot. There are so many activities availble, but some kita like tennis racquet and shuttle racquet needs to be changed.

We asked for a single large bed but what we got is two seperate beds also the staff informed that all the cottages have seperate beds only. The Staff in the reception were ok not so helpful.Staffs in the restaurant were helpful, but the main issue is with the buffet they arranged through out stay in Independence day holiday. The food was not so great and u will see the same items daily 😭😭😭,also there is total mismanagement in arranging tables, plates etc..

Overall we enjoyed a lot 👍👍👍👍.Some changes here and there will make everyone enjoy their stay 👏

I have planned to celebrate my wife birthday at RKN beach resort along with my 06 months old infant. Hence, I have blocked deluxe room with private pool on 21st Feb'22.

Lemme share few things here one by one that helps to Whoever looking for stay in RKN beach resort.

Mr.Venugopal and FO team, when we were entered the resort Mr.Venupogal welcomed with great manner and brief about the resort and adviced us to what are explorable places to visit. He had given a room check in without any delay as we requested for early check in. I requested for a cake to suprise my wife for her birthday and the same has been honoured and delivered by on time. It's highly appreciated. I felt the positive vibe and always " Yes " attitude for guests from Mr.Venu and team.

Chef Vincent & Team, Here I wanna highly mentioned about Chef Vincent and his team. They made my day into awesome and memorable When we go for lunch I had no idea what I gonna have for. This man come to my table with polite smile and he understood our mindset as well. He simply asked with me and my wife, which cuisine and meat you preferred, after we we choosen he served white sauce pasta with chicken and prawn tempura with fries and rice. To be honest, it was mouth watering and wonderful meal we had and enjoyed until last spoon of the meal. After we finish we shared our extreme pleasure with Chef Vincent and for dinner we decided to go with chef special. Our expectation was on peak and the same satisfied as well. Yes, this time he served grilled fish with noodles. OMG, my wife was stunned the taste of the meal.

In conclusion, I felt gratified to choosen this resort and believe I had given wonderful memories to my wife as birthday gift. We explored a lot and defined a true hospitality through Chef Vincent.

All the very best RKN beach resort. Such a hidden gem in Pondicherry. 🙂
