I want to congratulate the team for conceptualising and executing this mammoth project. From some of the photos on the wall in my room (217) the house was completely dilapidated and restoring a house of this size to current condition is beyond imagination. The house looks grand enough but even the surrounding area is quite scenic. Everything is properly designed because wherever I looked I didn't find anything that looked jarring to the eye or unkept. The rooms were also beautifully equipped with period pieces and high quality supplies. The service from everyone is also top notch. My mother, on whose birthday I made th sudden trip, is already planning for a longer stay with her friends. I wanted to give few suggestions from my point of view for further improvement: 1. have a garden area if possible. There are two water bodies which are very attractive and appealing for multiple reasons. Adding a garden, flower or vegetable, will add another dimension 2. somehow split the daycation visitors from the stay visitors. It creates chaos and confusion. Let me share my minor inconvenience. I went to lotus pavilion for lunch. Inside I asked if that was the entire lunch spread and someone confirmed it was. I had my fill and then was redirected to dessert counter outside. When sitting next to dessert counter to have a cup of tea that I ordered separately, I asked the person serving me tea what the third counter outside was? He was surprised and asked that is the starter counter, didn't you have starters? So I missed starters completely because no one told me about them. Not a big deal but the area outside the starter counter was packed with daycattion tourists when I came down for lunch. Maybe just separating the swing area would work. I leave it to management to ideate. 3. the cultural dances, while quite enjoyable are short. The compositions should be longer. Just when we were starting to enjoy a particular performance, it would end. Request to present longer compositions. To reiterate, beautiful property, wonderful service. Loved it and happy to have someplace like this near home.

Dear Guest, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are absolutely thrilled to hear that you and your family had a wonderful stay, especially celebrating your mother’s birthday with us! Your kind words about the restoration of the property mean a lot to us, as it is truly a labor of love to preserve and bring out the grandeur of Rajbari Bawali. We are glad to know that you appreciated the attention to detail in the design of both the interiors and the surroundings. Our team works hard to create an environment that is visually pleasing and relaxing for our guests, and it’s heartening to hear that you noticed these efforts. We’re also delighted to hear that the service provided by our team made your stay even more special. Your suggestions are very valuable, and we truly appreciate your constructive feedback: Garden Area: We agree that adding a garden or a green space would further enhance the charm of the property. We will certainly consider incorporating such an area, as it would complement the beautiful water bodies and add another layer of beauty to the surroundings. Daycation and Staycation Visitors: We understand the confusion caused by the mixing of daycation and staycation guests. We’ll definitely explore ways to create a better distinction between the two groups to ensure a smoother and more pleasant experience for all visitors, especially during mealtimes. Your experience regarding the lunch spread is noted, and we will look into improving communication and clarity for our guests in similar situations. Cultural Dances: We are happy that you enjoyed the cultural performances. We appreciate your feedback regarding the length of the performances and will look into extending them to allow our guests to fully immerse themselves in the experience. Thank you once again for your thoughtful suggestions and for highlighting the aspects you enjoyed. We are delighted to know that you plan to return with your mother and her friends, and we can't wait to welcome you again for an even more memorable stay. Warm regards, Rajbari Bawali Team

It was a pleasant experience. Specially a big shout out to the staff. Excellent service. Both my patents needed wheel chair and they were there whenever needed to help. Food was very good, spice levels well customised. Housekeeping and cleanliness very nice. Over all a pleasant stay and nice experience.
Few suggestions: 1. The property needs to pave all walkways and modify stairways to make it wheel chair friendly. 2. The beds are too high for any old person due to the mattress height. One needs to use a step stool ( with 2 steps) provided to get on to the beds. It’s a big challenge for senior citizens and specially those with disabilities . Would strongly suggest the mattress height be modified to make it easily accessible to senior citizens or those with disabilities. 3. With the kind of per day charge would expect more toiletries in room like brush+ paste, hair dryer, shower cap, loofah scrubber. 4. Food as mentioned above is excellent but prices are really high. 5. Some sit out for Dak Bungalow rooms will make it even more attractive.

The location is about 1.5-2 hours away from the central calcutta depending on traffic. Far from the hustle and bustle of the city this property is huge, has a lot of greeneries, water bodies, couple of swimming pools, large sitting areas, a lot of free spaces and amazing architecture of rooms and the buildings. We stayed in a zamindari suite which can accommodate 4 adults pretty easily and a couple of kids. Bathrooms and neat and clean. Big rooms, high ceilings and dim lighting gives the typical palace vibes. The food was awesome, so was the service. Went for my younger daughter’s 1st birthday. They helped us arranging a lot of stuffs, which we really appreciate. Overall an amazing experience.

Rajbari Bawali is a great option for those looking for a unique and luxurious heritage experience. While it may not be suitable for everyone, especially those on a tight budget or who prefer a more urban location, it is definitely worth considering for a special occasion or a relaxing getaway. Personal take: Excellent property, very hospitable and trained staff, fabulous food. Had booked a room for the day - lovely interiors. Very memorable daycation.

The facility initially did not seem impressive in the afternoon light when we arrived. The patchy remains of plaster & exposed brickwork does not create a sense of Rajbari opulence & grandeur. However, it tends to grow on you, with the lighting in the evening adding hugely to making it visually enchanting. There are large number of sit-outs and the newly added Shamiana is a lovely addition to enjoy a quiet cuppa & snacks. The mosquitoes play spoilsport, though, and though various efforts are made to control the menace, they rule the roost. The rooms are spacious & clean, though they tend to be somewhat damp, partially taken care of by the Dehumidifiers provided. The food is quite good, including the breakfast with multiple Live Counters, and, expectedly, overpriced. Like the entire facility. However the friendliness of the staff & their willingness to help is what makes the stay enjoyable. in this context, would like to mention Nibedita, the young lady who took care of us, who left no stone unturned to make us feel looked after. Would I visit again? Probably. Not... Definitely. Would love to.

We understand that the initial impression may have been affected by the afternoon light, but we’re delighted that the atmosphere at night created a more enchanting experience for you. Pretty underwhelmed upon finding a live snake in the bathroom. Since I was staying with elderly parents and small kids, we might have narrowly escaped a snake accident. If the owner chooses to monetize a wild habitat, at least make sure its safe for families- considering the exorbitant pricing of stay and food. And nobody cared to share a word of apology. In most international places, they would refund partial cost (that is not what I’m expecting).
The food price will definitely burn a hole in your pocket , however the dining place is riddled with house flies. Could barely eat at peace. Flies all over fruits and yogurt and juices. Please invest on some fly catchers or cover food items!
Not value for my money, in addition to safety concerns of snake. Wouldn’t recommend.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience for us, a group of about a dozen Senior Citizens ( of which 11 stayed overnight ). Right from the reception on arrival ( boron kora), to the extravagant Thali meals, to the evening Shondhya Arati to the live music at the Bar, to the customised dinner...... everything was beyond our expectations. We were a little apprehensive about how one of the very elderly amongst us would move around, but they allayed all our fears by arranging for a wheelchair for her right from the time we alighted and was with her till we departed. What we were especially thankful for was that whenever we approached some stairs/steps, the housekeeping boys gladly carried her up ( and down )!! Oh, and I must mention that the morning breakfast was so nice ( and heavy!) that we did not need to have any lunch on our return to Kolkata. Just a couple of suggestions: 1) If they could fix some handrails next to the staircase/steps, it would be a big help for the elderly. 2) The lunch is very heavy with too many items ( all very tasty, though). If their Menu could have a "Light Lunch Thali" at a slightly reduced price, that would avoid unnecessary food wastage and be a big boon for Senior Citizens.
All in all, a great outing experience at a place a little over an hour's drive from Kolkata. The review will be incomplete if I do not mention that the place was very well staffed, and, every member of the staff, whether we had any direct interaction with them or not, had a smile on his/her face and greeted us whenever we crossed their path. However, I must mention 2 names, Mr Debopriyo Mitra from their Kolkata office, and Mr Manish Das our designated "butler" who went out of their way to see that we had a great time!!

The trip to Raj bari Bawali was remarkable and Jayanta a flamboyant person who's hospitality is blended with care and curtsey made things more enjoyable......
However, the authority charges a bit extra according to the amenities out there, must improve more regarding room facilities where they should check what is there in the bathroom and not , as per people are charged they should check the rooms and look for any draw back of their own rather guest calling reception out there. Moreover the pond natun bari needs real review and please preserve the old iron and wooden frames or else incident may occur..... overall a good 👍 place

RajBari Bawali was a gush of fresh air for our entire family. We Visited this place recently with our entire family including extreme of ages both kids and elderly. Each and every staff is very cooperative and very helpful. Starting from wheelchair assistance for the elderly to making smashed rice khichdi for one year old, everything taken care of so nicely.
The property is huge with lots of flora and fauna. The rooms are very clean and tidy. The only difficulty we had is reaching the bed by the elder people as beds are very high from the ground but I assume it is expected as the name justifies ‘RAJBARI’ and hence its elegant bed.
Support staff like Mr. Subhojit and all others were very helpful and easily approachable.
Coming to the culinary section, it was just delicious and sumptuous. We had Traditional Bengali Thalis and the taste of each food item was just awesome and worth paying. The evening ‘Sandha Aarati’ and Live performances were just like cherry on top!
Overall the stay was very pleasant.
Recommendation: Must visit.

Our 1n/2d stay was excellent with respect to Room, Bathroom, housekeeping, service, hospitality, ambiance, upkeepment of property and last but not the least the gourmet food (quality, quantity, taste). Two persons whose warm hospitality and pleasing manners touched most were Alexandria (property owner) & Nibedita (out wingman).Talking to Carol ( mom of Alex) was a pleasure.Look forward to visit their new property near Darjeeling.
