From the greeting we were welcomed with, to our departure, great. Stunning views with the waves crashing over the rocks, room super and comfortable. Breakfast truly deserves an award, juices, cereals, fruits, every day a special dish which was cooked and presented to an exceptional standard.
Lovely staff, so friendly and knowledgeable, thank you so much, we hope to be back again.

We stayed for one night for our one year anniversary and couldn't think of a better way to celebrate. The hosts took lovely care of us, acknowledging it was our anniversary and really did small steps to make it very special for us.

We got upgraded to the Oyster room which boasted fabulous views of the ocean, uninterrupted in front of us. The room was clean and well kept, the bathroom was one of the highlights with the bathtub. It was one of the best night sleeps I had on my 11 day trip through South Africa.

Breakfast was delicious, freshly made and again the hosts took some initiative to make our one year anniversary fabulous and memorable.

Location wise, it was nice to stay just out of Hermanus, to give us some privacy and tranquility, while still being a five minute drive to go in and enjoy the restaurant and town.

We loved our visit to 138 Marine Beachfront Guesthouse, it felt as a home away from home. Very comfortable and beautiful. The reception was very professional with muffins being baked in the background. The rooms are exceptionally well furnished and we had a very nice view.
Breakfast was out of this world.
Thank you very much for having us.

My wife and I took advantage of the winter special offer promotion, taking a risk because we knew nothing about the place, for an overnight stay, and were so glad we did. The Guesthouse is immaculate and has the most stunning views. The staff are friendly and could not have been more helpful. The Oyster room was big and comfortable, with exquisite views of the sea and enabling us to watch a gorgeous sunset. There is a communal lounge next to it, which we also enjoyed. The breakfast was beautifully presented, tasty and plentiful. We’ll definitely return.

What an awesome hidden gem! Away from the busy town of Hermanus. This beautiful guesthouse house is situated in a secluded part of Sandbaai. The views of the sea are breathtaking. I took a guest from Texas on a Garden Route trip and we stayed over for 1 night.( Would of loved to have stayed longer). The guesthouse was immaculate, the views outstanding, the area is peaceful the only noise we heard was the birds and the sounds of the waves crashing on the beach.
I booked 2 rooms the Oyster Room for my guest which has a beautiful sea view and I stayed in the Seastar room also with a lovely sea view.
The rooms are comfortable, big and beautifully decorated with an on suite bathroom with a bath and shower.
The staff were very friendly and caring, with all Covid 19 protocols in place.
The breakfast was a treat and scrumptious. I will definitely book there again when I take guests along the Garden Route. Thank you so much Desre it was a really nice experience to stay in your lovely guesthouse!

We were staying for 3 night in the guesthouse, after we had to cancel twice our stay because of Covid.
The place looks amazing, there is so much attention for small details everywhere in the guesthouse, the views from the guesthouse are stunning, you are just first line to the sea, its so amazing to see it first thing in the morning and last thing at night.
Breakfast was amazing, especially the daily fresh fruits that were devine.
We were staying in the Oyster room, which is the best room in the guesthouse (got upgraded), there are 3 big windows overlooking the ocean, which is perfect, and the room was so tidy, spacious and luxurious.
The hosts, Desre and Belinda were so caring, both helped us with booking restaurants and other recommendations before we arrived, and helped us with any requests during our stay.
It was definietly one of the best places we stayed during our holiday in South Africa, and cannot wait to be back.

If you are considering a break in the Hermanus area and want to stay in an amazing place, you would have to look far and wide to find anything that tops 138 Marine drive guest house. This place is excellent. Located right on the beachfront in Sandbaai, with waves lapping at the front door, this luxury guest house makes for an ideal stay. There is the spectacular Hemel and Aarde wine region right there, whales frolic meters away and the shops and restaurants of Hermanus are within minutes drive. On my visit to 138, I was greeted by world class service, a comfortable, clean and luxury room, world class breakfast and a general feeling of being welcome. I would not hesitate to recommend this outstanding guest house. A true asset to the Western Cape.

We had 3 rooms, 1 king, 1 queen and one with 2 regular beds and a smaller one.
2 of them had a bathroom with a bathtub, one with a shower. All bathrooms were beautiful, very clean, very well kept.
The view on the sea from the 2 adults rooms were beautiful.
The sheets are of high quality, embroidered, beautiful.
The rooms are very welcoming, very comfortable, very quiet at night, tastefully decorated.
The staff was very helpful, very friendly, very nice.
Breakfast is delicious, with different options.
All in all a wonderful experience!
Thanks a lot to our hosts

Hi Johann On 20 & 21 Dec only our Periwinkle Room is available. Although the room itself does not have a sea view, when you open the bedroom door, you look through a huge window onto the waves in front of the house. The room is also close to the lounge with stunning 280 degree sea views, Should you be able to reconsider your dates, the Abalone Room with a sea view from the bed, is available on 21 & 22 December. Our honeymoon suite, the Oyster Room with its stunning views, is available 23 & 24 December. Do enjoy planning your holiday! Kind regards The 138 Marine Team
