We wanted to spend a few days in Nawalgarh between Jodhpur and Jaipur to get a little rest there and especially to visit the havelis. That is why we booked into Rajesh's Homestay for 3 nights. From the beginning we felt very comfortable there and fell in love with Rajesh's charming family. The architecture of the house alone is worth a visit. The rooms are spread over two floors around an open courtyard, which forms the center of the house. The rooms are furnished with small details, such as decorated wooden furniture and traditional duvet covers, in an authentic Indian style, but also minimal and warm. Many of the wooden furniture were made by the family itself. During our stay we did some trips with Rajesh and got to know the city from his eyes. He knows the stories behind the magnificent buildings and showed us the small, special hiding places in the city. We also visited the surrounding area with him and took a trip to some holy pilgrimage sites in the mountains. It was a very special and intense experience for us. Rajesh is an excellent guide who also took the time outside of the trips to answer our cultural questions in detail. We had the impression Rajesh designed the trips very individually and according to the preferences of his guests. You can tell right away he lives for his guests and was very interested in giving us a real insight into Indian life and none of these moneymaker guides. In the mornings and evenings, we sat together with the other guests while eating in the open common room and exchanged our travel experiences.
The fresh and varied food is prepared by Rajesh's lovely wife Sarla and comes mostly from their own family farm. Together with Rajesh's son Tushar we visited the Eco Farm. Tushar showed us what vegetables they grow and what they use it for. As in Rajesh's guest house, the hot water is generated here via solar panels. The sustainable idea of the family is also practiced when eating. We spent two evenings preparing food in Sarla´s cooking class and learned a lot from her. We love to cook at home and tried to soak up and write everything down. Rajesh´s family also helped us with some everyday problems, such as looking for transfers and booking tickets. When it got a little colder at night, we were even supplied with hot water bottles. One evening Rajesh surprised us with towels that we had searched for in vain in the city. The stay with Rajesh, Sarla and their three children, who all help diligently, was so informative and authentic that we decided to extend our stay for two more nights.

The five days at Rajesh were one of the highlights of our trip to India. If you want to explore Rajasthan off the beaten path, we can only recommend this great homestay.

Beautiful and comfortable homestay in a spectacular town Nawalgarh. Host Mr. Rajesh Jangid is a gem of a person, who has real knowledge about town's history, culture and heritage value of Sekhawati area. All family members paly their roles to run the homestay smoothly and everyone of them are super nice, helpful and welcoming. Mrs. Sarla Jangid is unequal cook, she made our stay more memorable with her delicious food. We stayed for 13 days, along with Mr. Jangid's experience stories we were served different variety of food everyday and absolutely tasty, fresh as well as organic. She should try for MasterChef India.
Rooms were comfortable, "Women Certified" clean along with this they have marvelous and worth noticing furniture.
Wish you guys best of luck and keep the good work going on.
Highly recommended..

We stayed with Rajesh overnight and did what felt like two full day tours with him. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Rajesh is real character, almost like something out of a history book. He runs his guest house in his ancestral family home in a traditional manner with just his wife, who is an excellent cook. We loved all of the food that she served us throughout our stay. Like most travellers, we had the desire to fulfil the age-old cliche of 'getting off the beaten track', but with Rajesh, that's precisely what we did.

We toured around with him in his Ambassador car and got a real insight into the local area. Rajesh is really passionate, and he happily answers any and all questions you might have about daily life in Shekhawati. We saw some amazing frescoes and he took us to some extremely remote communities, which we'd never have been able to see without an expert guide.

Our second day with him on foot exploring Nawalgarh was just as enjoyable. Rajesh had no interest whatsoever in making money from us through any kind of commission in touristy shops. Instead, at our request, when our cultural tour was finished, Rajesh willingly showed us tiny stalls and shops where only locals buy. We were able to purchase some amazingly high-quality local products at ridiculously low prices as a result.

If you're looking for an authentic experience in Shekhawati, I couldn't recommend Rajesh highly enough. We really hope to see you again. Many thanks, Sean and Monika

Tourist Pension is a genuine homestay with a family. The rooms here are beautiful and old heritage-looking, with lovely wooden furniture. The location is easily approachable, and it is a few minutes walk to the main road.
But what makes this place special; is the family that runs it. Rajesh Sir and Sarla Ma'am are the perfect hosts, genuinely friendly and helpful.
Sarla Ma'am cooks delicious food, and Rajesh Sir is so passionate about heritage and the environment, having a conversation with him at the dinner table was truly helpful to know about the heritage and culture of the Shekhawati region.
I recommend this property to everyone who is visiting Nawalgarh and I would want to come back to this place again.

Thank you, Sir and Ma'am for being an excellent host. 😊

Just recently came back from an unforgettable, culturally rich trip from Navalgarh of Shekawat region of Rajasthan.
My trip was doubly enriched by staying with Mr Rajeshji&His family in their family run guest house," Tourist Pension". The stay was so comfortable by the Host warm, authentic hospitality. The rooms are simple, neat, elegant and breezy.. and the host is so conscious about environment, sustainability, it reflects in every act of theirs.
Food.. The best ever home made food.. authentic Rajasthani nutritious meals made by his ever smiling, active wife
saralaji🙏Most of the produce is either from their own farm or nearby ones. So organic, we can feel the freshness with just one bite.
Rajeshji is highly knowledgeable person.. And guides his guests perfectly.
Truly felt like, home away from home.. And left a small piece of my heart over there.

We stopped here for one night on our road trip through Rajasthan, and had a wonderful experience. Rajesh is a delightful host, so welcoming and informative and passionate about the history, culture and experiences on offer in the local area. His wife Salah is a phenomenal cook and our dinner and breakfast was delicious. I loved that the food was all organically and locally grown and made, and our hosts promoted recycling and sustainability of local resources. I highly recommend adding a stay at this wonderful accommodation to your itinerary. My only regret is I wish we had more time to spend here 🙂

We stay there for 2 nights and it was the most comfortable and cosy nights we had in India so far. Rajesh and all his family are super nice and really helpful. They pick us up at the bus station as we were arriving late and prepare us a dinner even if it was more than 11 pm. The food directly prepare at the guesthouse by the family is delicious, surely the best meals we had in India.
Rajesh is also a guide, and you can have cooking lessons with the family. We didn't use these services but it is also an option. The all family speak a good English which is not always the case in India.
To conclude everything was amazing, I would definitely recommend to stay there, you won't be disappointed and you will get the chance to know a charming family of India !

My stay with this host was absolutely wonderful! Their kindness and warm hospitality made it feel like staying with family. Not only is the host a local expert, but the heritage tour, especially the visit to the haveli and other historical sites, was an unforgettable journey.

Another highlight was when the host introduced me to the most delicious sweets and chai in town. Just loved the experience!

What made this stay even more special was the incredibly warm welcome from the host's family. The (extra-cost) meals they provided were a culinary delight, and the homemade bread was just delicious.

As a solo traveller, finding a place that feels safe and welcoming is crucial, and this host and their family exceeded all expectations. They even upgraded my room! My experience was not only secure but truly heartwarming.

I can't recommend this stay enough! :)

Adorable host full of attention and touches of consideration : Rajesh Jangid advises his guest with sensitivity and relevance. The bedrooms are pleasant. By cultivating proximity and empathy values, Rajesh makes your stay a very pleasant one.
Delicious diners are prepared by his family to make your life even better.
We missed some heater in the single room in January but the hot-water bottle helped us to get used to the unexpected Jan night cold.

We were so glad that we chose to stay with Rajesh Jangid and his family at Tourist Pension in December. The family was so warm and hospitable, it felt like visiting your own family. We enjoyed every meal offered was tasty and unique and made from local organic farm produce, including home made brown bread. The hosts were open to tailoring the food as per request. The rooms are good size, well ventilated and very clean.
Rajesh ji and his family are local experts in the area. They have deep knowledge of Shekhawati Havelis and architecture. The knowledge and insights that they provided, made our trip all the more interesting.
Above all, their efforts and vision in the area of conservation are commendable - wether its local ecology or restoration of havelis. Their 40 years of work in providing authentic experience shines through.
I would highly recommend people to avoid the tourist traps, and stay with Rajesh Jangid Tourist Pension for an authentic and memorable experience.
