The location : Abt 4‐5 km from the railway station in the heart of Nawalgarh. Hop‐on to the interesting looking auto rickshaws from station to Bawri gate. Grand Haveli is 2mins from Bawri gate. The place : Grand Haveli has two buildings seperated by 12ft road. The old one is proper Haveli which has been beautifully restored. The new one has been made to resemble a Haveli. Old one called Heritage has different type of rooms whereas new one has more or less same type rooms. We stayed in Heritage haveli. The decor has beautiful Shekhawati fresco. The main door itself is majestic. The room : We stayed in a deluxe room which had rather unusual metal staircase to a small sitout area in the room. The bathroom had a bath tub. Room had a old CRT TV but couldnt find any dth connection. I feel TV is an odd fit and unnessesary item in such properties. The food : We had coffee and pakoda in the evening and dinner at night. Taste was good. The staff : The front desk and property manager were helpful and infact introduced us to the artist who was working on restoration since we showed interest in the art.…
We had a room on the ground floor. It was nice inside despite a strange step down in to the bathroom. It also had a small entry/ sitting room. The evening buffet was quite tasty as was breakfast. The central courtyard was beautifully decorated.
The rooms are quite odd - interesting but inconvenient. The lock is situated on top of the door frame (- tough for the vertically challenged like me!), the rooms don't have enough light and are quite dimly lit (tough to read at night), the bathroom has three (somewhat unexpected) steps and the doorways have frames that one trips over! The space is nice but it needs a little more modernity! Plus it's difficult to find. Signs in the city might help get here.
The first room they gave us 102 was right next door to the entrance the noise was deafening! The shower was in front of the toilet in a type of wet room style. After composing they moved us to room 205. The toilet Custer’s only filled with water when you turned the sink taos in. No hot water. The electricity kept going off. To get to the bed you had to climb really steep steps and then once inthis part there were two large openings which you could fall down to the floor below if you were not careful. The buffet evening meal was terrible the chicken was totally inedible. Breakfast next morning did have fresh pineapple and paw paw. The hotel has nice paintings but is freezing cold in winter due to the courtyard layout. One to avoid
The place is really beautiful, even though it could be cleaner. We didn’t get hot water but it was not a big deal. The rooms were very nice, take the 206 or 208 to have a very beautiful duplex. We had diner for one evening, good but quite expensive. The staff is always available to help. Hotel in the center of the old city. I recommend it.
