Hi! I am of Indian descent as well although I have lived in Canad for the past 40 years. I have been riding since I was a teenager in India and, as a polo player and an endurance rider, I am fairly experienced. The two Roop Niwas rides I have been on (each about 12 days) are better suited to experienced riders. Having said that, Devendra and Durga organize shorter and more sedate rides as well and I understand that riding lessons and day rides using Roop Niwas as a base can be arranged. I am not sure what they would charge for them.
My most recent ride with Royal Riding Holidays was from Nawalgarh to the Pushkar fair. The cost was InRs 1,80,000. This included just about everything including accommodation at Roop Niwas and at tent hotels in Pushkar, all meals and, of course, the horses, gear and tent accommodation during the ride. It was a wonderful trip with two days with local rides (to get used to the horses) at Nawalgarh, 8 days on the trail and 2 days riding around the Pushkar fair. There were seven riders (one couple, the rest were singals - two men three women, 4 nationalities) and we all had an amazingly good time. Devendra and Durga are very experienced and the hospitality and food were excellent. The daily rides began at about 7. We stopped for lunch and a siesta at about noon and then rode for another 4-5 hours to camp. The pace varied from walking to gallops.
I highly recommend Roop Niwas and their riding safaris. You can get more information about the rides from their web site.
I would be delighted to answer any other questions you may have.
