Marina and Haji were beautiful hosts. I arrived by myself late at night, and they immediately made me feel at ease. The room was clean and beautifully decorated, with fresh flowers from their garden tastefully arranged on the bed. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful, with a wide selection of breads, as well as the grilled seafood dinner. I had...

We stayed for 10 days back in August and had a lovely time. Mangrove is off the beaten track set on its own beach just one minute walk through the gardens. We deliberately wanted somewhere quiet after a busy safari in the Masai Maara and Mangrove suited perfectly. For the money we paid it would be hard to beat the...

Out of the 12 accommodations that we stayed at in Tanzania, Mangrove was arguably one of the best. This lodge is excellent value for money and is set in a beautiful part of chuini surrounded by mangroves, sand and beaches. The staff were all wonderful and the owners Marina and Hajji were extremely welcoming and friendly. Despite getting ill for...

I stayed at mangrove lodge with my friend in August for a couple of nights and I can certainly say it was a relief when we got there. We had experienced some of the worst of Africa while we were there on our 5 week holiday and as soon as we got off the mainland, it instantly improved. Marina kindly...

Hello Brooke, thanks for your kind review. You didn't have enough time to match your curiosity of the island and your need to relax... and unfortunately you missed our heavy breakfast. Although fruit bread and eggs are available even early in the morning, we need to be patient to get the delicious fresh specialities of our selected villagers! At least...

I booked Mangrove due to the great trip advisor ratings but I don't feel that people have been honest about this place. Firstly, the food is absolutely sensational, huge portions, fantastic flavour; truly the best food I ate in Zanzibar. But..... This is not an eco lodge. I'm not sure whether Haji & co. have genuinely misunderstood the term or...

Dear Noelle Thanks for your review, it helps to be aware of complains that we didn’t hear from you at the lodge. Unlike you, other guests were happy to stay with us. They had a drink and lunch on the beach, good food, a tidy room and a warm atmosphere. Hard to say they were not honest in their reviews,...

My family spent 6 nights at this wonderful lodge, hidden away at the end of a long and bumpy road! The gardens of the lodge are lush, there is a private beach and stunning views of near-by ruins. Marina and Haji were gracious and kind hosts. We spent half the time on outings (Spice Tour, Stone Town) and half on...

Travelling by myself, my biggest concerns were safety, comfort and getting a real Zanzibar experience in my 4 short days on the island. Mangrove Lodge exceeded my expectations by not only fully catering for these things, but by offering me so much more! My experience at Mangrove was simply amazing, and I could not imagine anywhere more perfect to stay....

Thanks Emily for your review! It was lovely having you stay with us. We thought you were very brave at such a young age to visit Africa on your own so it was our pleasure to "look after" you, even though you didn't really need it. We hope you enjoyed your time in Iringa after staying with us and if...

The selfish part of me absolutely does not want to write a review, because this little lodge is an amazing secret--a place of peace, privacy, and relaxation. Oh yeah, and there is a private beach where you can be alone with the water (except for the occasional dude washing his ox) and the price is crazy low. Marina and Haji...

This place was a real find. The lodges are set out in a lovely shaded garden, with a beautiful view out over a small cove of turquoise water and fishing boats.
