After the last two botched refurbs , I was hoping that this one would improve things , what a disappointment ! . 1) ceiling fans still not reinstated meaning it is still far too hot inside when it is warm. 2) more TV's installed meaning that it is hard to sit anywhere and not see one - when will the...

Visit here regularly for a drink with friends. As the pub had been closed for a little while I presumed it was for a refurbishment and hoped the toilets would be improved as a result, unfortunately on returning this week , noticed that they are just the same. Not sure what's causing the corridor leading to and the ladies toilets...

I took my son to The Governor's for lunch. There was a good deal on which we took advantage of which consisted of a sandwich, chips and a drink for £5.99. There was a new member of staff serving at the bar. She would have overcharged me had I not been on the ball and able to do my Maths!...

This was a really nice lunch. The food was excellent. Good quality and piping hot. The place needs to be decorated and some of the furnishings needs to be updated as seen better times. However all in all very nice and will go again.

We held my dad's wake here. Our initial venue was flooded a week earlier and at short notice and with food already preordered from an outside caterer the staff were incredibly accommodating, friendly and went far out of their way to help us. They sectioned off a series of rooms for us and facilitated our every need. We had lunch...

Visited on a Thursday evening when the weather was nice. Quite a lot of people sat outside but very quiet inside. We were the only people waiting at the bar but, even though at least 4 members of staff were flitting around, it took us the best part of 10 minutes to be served. Server was friendly though, and the...

The room which we hired was tired with blown double glazing, dirt and damp on ceilings with blackening to window bases. Toilet not working as ball cock sticking and had to be operated manually, plugs loose in bath and wash basin. Central heating not working. Need a good clean. Breakfast interesting with large milk bottle on table!. Staff pleasant and...

I didn't stay here so can't comment on the accomodation, however I have had a few meals here. Whilst the food is always very nice, the vegetarian options are somewhat limited and you have to like 'beef' quorn or mushrooms to have mush choice. The staff are polite and the pub is nicely decorated and has a dog friendly area...
