Strath Valley View B&B is an amazing little cottage hidden away in the beautiful Victorian highlands only an hour’s drive away from Melbourne. The stand alone cottage located in the tiny hamlet of Strath Creek, a town comprising a pub, general store and this B&B, is a perfect place for relaxing and enjoying the peaceful tranquility of the area.
The cottage has all the charm of a century old French chalet with a modern interior to cater for everyday needs. A generous breakfast platter for us to cook was included, and the cottage contains a well stocked pantry and fridge.
Our stay was made even more enjoyable by the thoughtful extras included by the host Melissa. Generous offerings of home made jams and soaps, complementary port, fruit and cheese, cherries and freshly baked bread on arrival and home baked chocolate cake were a pleasant surprise.
This special treatment seems not to be selective, as the guest comments book in the cottage contains hundreds of mentions of similar experiences since opening in 2006.

This is truly a wonderful place to stay. Only an hour from Melbourne, but it feels like you are tucked away in the middle of nowhere. The hostess, Melissa, strikes the perfect balance between being welcoming and accommodating, but allowing you to relax on your own.
The cottage is decked out with everything that you could need and is a perfect place to just relax.

It was such a good stay. Located in the Valley of a Thousand Hills the scenery was breathtaking. Surrounded by greenery and the cows it was a different sight for my kids. Melissa was very kind and helpful. She provides tips and help when needed. The provision of breakfast was great too

This was our second visit to this beautiful place. It remains as good as it was then, outstanding. Melissa and Rob continue to be magnificent hosts, as well as their very friendly dog and their beautiful belted Galloway cows. We'll be back. Treat yourself, you won't be dissapointed.

The perfect escape starts with an easy one hour drive from Melbourne where you find yourself in the stunning Strath Valley, at Strath Creek. The cottage is luxurious, private and well maintained and has amazing views of the surrounding valleys. Melissa, the hostess has thought of every detail any couple or young family may need for their home away from home. There's the toys, dvd’s and cubby for the young ones and great selection of books and dvd's for the adults; sitting around the wood fire sipping complementary port in the evening or sitting on the veranda watching the wildlife or taking in the views. Go for a walk and spot the wild life, go for a drive and explore, or just relax and take in the views. The farm fresh food, coffee maker and local produce were superb. The perfect escape.

Magnificent on our arrival - beautiful views over very high hills. Fresh eggs, bacon, home made fresh bread etc etc for a yummy long breakfast next morning. Loved it. Great air con as it was hot. Would be great to visit again in winter to see green hills and the fire.

We loved our stay, wish we could have had longer, and will return as soon as we can. The cottage is beautifully set up, absolute comfort where you can enjoy the quality of everything while always feeling totally relaxed. Melissa is a quick message or call away if you need anything or have a question, but if you don't (and everything you could want is provided for you), you can be totally alone and never see or hear another soul (apart from neighbourly cows, sheep and kangaroos). Beds and couches are super comfortable and the whole cottage is kept warm and cosy by the wood heater. There are lots of things to do nearby if you want to walk or drive, but we found it very hard to leave the cottage! You can take your own food and cook (once you have eaten the delicious bacon, eggs, home baked bread and jams provided), and all the essentials are in the fridge or pantry. There is wine, beer and cider to buy if you don't have enough with you, and the complimentary port was lovely. For a real break from the hustle and bustle, we couldn't recommend this place highly enough.

We stayed for just one night but wish we stayed longer. The accommodation was clean and very comfortable, with a lot of thoughtful extra touches that we really appreciated (freshly baked bread, fire already lit when we arrived, lavender bath salts and hand made soaps, magazines and a great selection of DVD's). The surroundings are beautiful and we were so happy to have discovered this tranquil retreat. Everything we needed was provided. We discovered several wombat burrows on the hill behind the house during our morning walk, so we wished we looked for wombats the evening before with the torch! I thoroughly recommend this place to anyone (singles, couples or families). It is absolutely beautiful and everything you need is provided.
