The Kahari Resort is a haven of tranquility, drawing guests with its serene atmosphere, from the snug rooms to the picturesque dining areas and peaceful beach bars. However, some travelers question the resort's value, pointing out high costs and billing discrepancies.
While the resort is lauded for its cleanliness and pristine conditions, service and room maintenance have garnered mixed reactions, with reports of both commendable assistance and disheartening neglect. Amenities like the beach are appreciated, yet the provision of equipment and services can be hit-or-miss.

Detailed Reviews
If I could give Kahari extra stars I would. The rooms are so beautiful and the loft, windows, and porch are very cute! You can open all the windows and let in the sea breeze or enjoy a cup of coffee on the screened in porch and look out over the water. The staff is wonderful and makes you feel right at home. The scenery is just gorgeous and there are a lot of fun outdoor activities to choose from. (snorkeling, paddleboarding, kayaking, hiking...) I feel good about coming here too because it is all solar powered and eco-friendly. It is a secluded and private location and I think there is only one restaurant accessible without using a boat. But not a problem because the food was amazing. I came in October and immediately booked another trip a few months from now.

My husband and I wanted an authentic out island experience....It was off the grid on a smaller island off of the main Exuma Island with charm, elegance and a private island paradise ambiance.
Crystal clear waters with soft white sand. A great gym with new equipment overlooking an unbelievable view of the Harbour.
Stylish rooms with decks and steps to a secluded paradise beach.
The staff were Uber friendly and the restaurant had fast kind staff and service with excellent yummy fresh food.
I was very impressed that I was able to get ac, hot running water, toilets working and a comfy bed all on an outter island.
I’m looking forward to returning in the summer!

If you want a lot of people and action, loud music, and late night parties, this is not the place for you. The Kahari Resort offers an exclusive beach getaway that is hard to find. It is quiet, relaxing and and at times you feel like you have a private beach. Mon, the Concierge, seems to be the man who knows everyone (or someone that knows someone) to help with your every need. He makes an effort to speak to each guest daily and does what he can to make your time relaxing and enjoyable whether that is getting reservations somewhere, arranging transportation, or in our case, arranging a COVID test on a Sunday when the clinic was closed. All employees were pleasant, polite, and seemed to take pride in their work. The bungalows are spacious and clean with many windows for great views and a nice screened in porch. There is a small refrigerator with an ice maker, a microwave, a Nespresso/Coffee maker, and sink in the kitchenette area. The bathroom is small, but functional and the outside shower is a unique feature. The beach chairs are padded and comfortable. There are options for sun and shade on the beach. The restaurant on the property has a changing menu for dinner. It is very pricey ($40-$50 dinners, $20 for a glass of wine) but the food was good. It is also a convenient dining option. However you can walk over to the little beach bar area at the Peace and Plenty or down to Chat and Chill to order something else. You can also take the boat into Georgetown for more options. Because the size of the resort is so small, you tend to see the same few guests each day and it is nice to get to know them better. There becomes a little sense of community within the resort. When we were there, there was an older couple there from London, a mother there with her 18 year old daughter from the southwest, a younger 30 something couple from D.C. We are in our 50's and from the Midwest. The point being, the place is good for a variety of ages of people from different places if you just want a quiet, pretty little corner of the world for a vacation.

We have been going to the restaurant at Lumina Point, now Kahari, since it opened and have always been pleased with the location, view, decent food and service.
Our first, and LAST, meal at Kahari was intended to be a family Christmas lunch. The central restaurant with majestic views is now closed. The wooden bar restaurant on the lagoon with a nice terrace was opened. It had no menu (and therefore, no price... to go with the hand written tab). We ordered 2 burgers, 1 veggie burger, and chicken breast, a beer, a virgin strawberry daiquiri and 2 cocktails. Grand total: us$181! Admittedly, the 12% tax and 15% included gratuity (which guarantee poor service) do not help but still... we felt rubbed. The good news is that their credit card machine did not work and we only had $170 on us, which the lovely waitress gracefully accepted as payment.
Managing client expectations with a menu would go a long way to prevent indigestible bills... We miss you, Lumina Point!

We are very sorry for the experience you had with our Restaurant. We actually decided not to allow outside guests to dine with us until further notice so that we have proper knowledge of everything to prep and the number of people to prep for. Now that the Christmas and New Year rush has slowed down, we are going to take this time to thoroughly plan review our operations so that we can create a better experience for our guests. If it means anything, there are already menus for every part of the day. The central restaurant is not closed as you stated, it was just not open at the time of your visit. I apologize that you wish to not return again, but if you do, I am certain you will have a better experience. If you would like to speak to me about this matter directly, please feel to contact me via email at asstresortmanager@kahariresort.com. Sincere Regards, Anatol

My husband and I went to Kahari on our honey moon 2 weeks ago for 6 nights and it was an absolute DREAM!
This was our first time to Exuma Bahamas and it was spectacular.
We stayed in a bungalow, which are absolutely beautiful, and ours had an outside shower, which was the cherry on top!
The Beacon is the restaurant at Kahari and the food was 10/10. We ate there for breakfast almost every morning and dinner was spectacular. The dinner menu was different every day so we got to experience different meals. (The sea food was out of this world)
All the servers and staff at the Beacon were very professional and kind. Brandon the bartender was so wonderful to us!!
The island is just absolutely beautiful that Kahari is on. It was so relaxing. The water is crystal clear and you can go right up to one of the beach bars and ask for snorkel gear which is exactly what we did. We grabbed snorkel gear and would go explore the reefs that were right off the shore! We found so many amazing star fish, variety of different fish and saw a few sting rays! There are kayaks and paddle boards available at any time which we also took advantage of! It was a blast and there was seriously so much to do.
Also, We took a beautiful hike to the other side of the island to the Atlantic Ocean. You get 360 views of the whole resort/island. (Truly a site to see!)
The beach bar is also a must. They serve delicious drinks and yummy jerk chicken sandwiches! (We ate that for lunch most days)
There was a concierge available as well to all the guests, which was extremely helpful when it came to exertions, Covid testing, and pretty much any question you had! Kay booked us on an all day exertion which turned out to be a blast!
The boat taxi service to get to and from the main land was very convenient. The boat captains were all very nice and I felt confident and safe riding with them our whole trip!
We had such an amazing time!
Kahari was way beyond our expectations and we couldn’t of dreamed of a better honey moon!
Thank you to all the staff at Kahari that made our honey moon so special :)

My girlfriend Valerie and I planned a last minute trip and we are so glad we chose Kahari resort. From the second we entered the lagoon on the scenic boat ride in we knew we chose well. We were greeted with warmth and a nice cold drink and we’re escorted to our waterfront bungalow that was perfect in every way from the super comfy bed to the outdoor shower and stunning views. The entire staff made is feel comfortable and important in every way. We enjoyed breakfast and dinner at the restaurant that had a changing menu every day and never disappointed! (thank you chef Fritz and our server Mia!) It was truly like being on a deserted island but with 5 star service at every turn. We hiked and kayaked the entire island and never got tired of the views. We could be totally private and alone at times and then with a short walk be with other guests at the beach club bar and restaurant. The water taxi was amazing and mainland Georgetown has a lot to offer if you like exploring and experiencing local culture. We have been many places and like to explore new things but we were planning our return trip while we were still there!!

Just returned from 4 days at Kahari, traveling with two children 7 & 10.
First the good things: The natural setting of the resort is absolutely stunning, it is truly a wonder. Kahari sits on Stocking Island, which is a small, remote island, only accessible by boat, so it feels like you are at the end of the world. Beach is empty and pristine, very few people (there are only 12 bungalows I believe), and our bungalow faced the bay with stunning electric water and sail boats. It's a feast for the eyes! The boat that goes between Stocking Island and Great Exuma is consistent and on schedule. It's a very pleasant 5 min boat ride. ChatNChill is walking distance from Kahari beach, maybe a 5-7 min walk, but during low tide only.
Things to improve: Service was barely existent. We got the sense that everyone who worked at Kahari was preoccupied with something else, much more important, so it felt like we were burdening staff with basic requests. In all 4 days, we were able to get 2 beach towels from their Beach Club, and had to reuse them for the duration of our stay, since every time (3 in total) I had inquired about fresh towels, I was told they were out. The bungalow did not come with shampoo, so I had to call to ask for it. We were never given enough bath towels, though we had 4 people in the room, and had to share them amongst ourselves. The first night, my son stepped on a nail protruding from the rug in the loft and punctured his foot. I had alerted front desk both in person and via email, and received no acknowledgment. I had also offered to wait for someone to come fix it, but no one showed up. Thankfully, the waiter at the Beacon (the ONLY dinner restaurant at Kahari) was sympathetic to the fact that my children could not eat deep fried chicken nuggets for 4 days straight, and helped procure pasta. He was also very helpful in getting us food-to-go for the Pigs tour, which started before breakfast service. He was the only person willing to actually help, and we are very grateful. I am not sure if things are not well run, or if mgmt doesn't train staff well, but we got a sense that we were left to fend for ourselves, and solve our own problems pertaining to procuring basic necessities like food, towels and blankets. Yes, the first night, they left us a blanket for the kids which was wet, we could not use it, so gave them ours..
I think Kahari has a lot of potential but perhaps needs stronger leadership, since when numerous things are overlooked on a consistent basis, it creates a lot of disorganization further down the chain. We were paying quite a lot of money, to have to beg for necessities, appearing 'high maintenance', when in reality these were all basic things.

Spent five days immersed in scenic beauty, Exuma blue water, and peaceful surroundings while enjoying friends, tasty foods, and a “few” well deserved cocktails. I started most of my days with fresh coffee on my ocean front porch listening and watching the ocean progress and recede, followed by breakfast looking for turtles and sharks from the restaurant deck. By the second day, the servers already knew I had a dairy allergy and liked hot sauce on my eggs.
Next was usually a morning hike through a series of trails on Stocking Island with one view more impressive than the last one. Fishing, snorkeling, Turtle watching, Starfish and Sand dollar hunting were incorporated into my afternoon activities.
A few cocktails and beers to accompany Sunset on the beach with friends and new companions led into an enjoyable dinner with new dishes on the menu each night. I definitely appreciated the happy and helpful staff. Planning my next trip.
Highly recommend.
Cheers,
Craig

From the moment we stepped off the boat onto Kahari's dock, I realized my daughter and I had chosen the right place for our vacation. The water was crystal clear and we watched as two large nursing sharks swam slowly beneath us. We were handed rum punches and were met by Kaylecia who pointed out the game room, spa, restaurant, gym and saltwater pool on the short walk to our room. The room was perfect and private and looked out onto the most beautiful aqua blue water we’d ever seen. After a quick nap we headed to the Beacon for dinner.
The Beacon is perfectly rustic and offers both an indoor and outdoor area for dining. The first night we each opted for the tuna ceviche and lobster followed by chocolate mousse with fresh berries. The food was gourmet and delicious and never disappointed.
We spent the rest of our vacation snorkeling over the small coral reef just a few yards from the beach and relaxing on the comfy loungers on the quiet private beach just steps from our room. One day we took an excursion that Lamon had recommended and arranged to see and interact with the swimming pigs, swim in a grotto, feed iguanas and swim with sharks. This is a must for anyone visiting Exuma.
Throughout our stay we were greeted by every member of the staff we encountered and made to feel like our satisfaction and comfort mattered. My daughter and I agree that our trip to Kahari was one of the best we’ve ever taken. We couldn’t have enjoyed it more. If you’re considering Kahari…don’t hesitate. Just go.

This was my second time at Kahari. This time there were so many service issues and many of the people who work there are unfriendly
There is only four or five dinner entrees only one being fresh fish and most nights they were out of 2 of them so my partner had chicken 3 of 8 nights. However the head woman chef made incredible vegetarian dinners for me. She took such care and pride. Several of the women waitresses were down right rude. The housekeeping women who cleaned our room never brought towels or toilet paper so we had to ask every day and she made us feel like we were crazy for asking. The safe in our room was broken. We asked for the first three days to fix it. They never did. Then the GM when we spoke said that safes been broken for over a year as if that was an excuse. No one worker on the Kahari side beach so getting towels drinks etc was impossible except the lady who sometimes works there was so nice she brought us towels begore she was told each day by the GM to go to the peach and plenty side which btw is the only place on the island for Kahari guests to eat lunch which is disgusting. The boat to leave the island is every hour for a five minute boat ride. So if you want to leave Kahari to go for dinner at 7 you prob have to leave on the 530 boat then a taxi and then figure out how to time it perfectly to get back. That's so annoying and boats should just leave every half hour. The restraint ran out of propane one night so they only served cold appetizers and soup. Then they decided to remain closed the next day for breakfast and lunch so in the pouring rain you had to take the boat to peace and plenty across the way. Have a quick breakfast and wait an hour to go back to Kahari. No apologies. No communication and when we spoke to the GM he said breakfast was an amenity at the property. This is the only place to eat breakfast or dinner on the island and it's in the Kahari property so that made no sense. We met a couple that arrived one day was supposed to be there for four days but said service was so bad they chose to leave the next day knowing they would lose their money. So sad because the beach is absolutely beautiful but you spent half your time fighting with the mostly incompetent or mean staff.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent stay at Kahari. We sincerely apologize for the numerous service issues you encountered during your visit. It's disheartening to learn that your experience did not meet your expectations, especially considering that it was your second time with us. We deeply regret any inconvenience caused by the limited dinner options and the availability of fresh fish. Your comments regarding the behavior of some of our staff members are truly concerning, and we assure you that we will address these issues with our team to ensure that all guests receive the warm and attentive service they deserve. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the vegetarian dinners prepared by our head chef. It's wonderful to know that her dedication and talent were able to enhance your dining experience. Regarding the maintenance issues in your room, including the broken safe, we apologize for the inconvenience and frustration this caused. Rest assured, we will investigate these matters further to prevent similar occurrences in the future. We appreciate your feedback regarding the transportation schedule and the temporary closure of our restaurant due to propane shortage, however the entire island was out of propane for several days and we were not able to procure more until the following morning when a boat finally arrived with the next shipment. We understand the inconvenience this caused and will take your suggestions into consideration for future improvements. Once again, we apologize for falling short of your expectations and for any inconvenience caused during your stay. We truly value your feedback as it helps us to identify areas for improvement and ensures that we continue to provide exceptional experiences for all our guests. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and provide you with the outstanding service and experience that you deserve.

When we were there it was pretty much on demand but it's best to talk to your resort host to book the times because occasionally it was in use by other guests or the resort employees when they get fresh food daily. Typically the boat turns around every hour or two.
Yes, the tap water is safe to drink however we always encourage bottled as yiu never know how one might react. We also have snorkling gear available for your use as well. Kayaks are available and we also have one hobie cat on property for your enjoyment
Get in touch withPeace and Plenty Resort, they are a sister resort and do take reservations and checkout for Kahari. Good luck.
