This is our 2nd stay at a Mercure hotel, and both times we have been very happy. We found the back stairs (there are no apparent lifts) to be a bit tired and dated, but, our room was lovely, the food was delicious, and the staff were great. We arrived during a power cut, so we're given a complementary drink,...

We took advantage of a two night offer for Dinner on the first night and B and B for two nights. I was impressed that I received two emails in the week beforehand asking if there was anything they could do to enhance our stay. I was even more impressed when we received a phone call the night before to...

Arrived at the hotel checked in and our room had peeling wall paper and was extremely dated. We were moved to a room next door which was equally as bad. The bathroom had a dated lino floor. The sink and bath needed an update and considering it was a Mercure there was non substantial toiletries and considering 1 night was...

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to leave a review on trip advisor following your recent stay at the hotel on 4th March 2017. I am disappointed that your stay was not as enjoyable as I and the team would have liked On reading your review I am rather confused as to how you were able to see...

Our 'privilege' room was nice with a very comfy bed, though the bathroom could do with updating. Staff on reception, bar and restaurant were all efficient and friendly. Our 3 course evening meal was excellent and the breakfast was good.

Stayed here a few time whilst on the business. Some of the rooms feels a little dated but that's not surprising given the period and style of the build. All rooms very clean and comfortable. The food is good and there is the option to dine in the lounge area or formal dining room. Excellent breakfast buffet.

Nice place, restaurant was good, service and staff all very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately our room had some smell (drains, etc) and the heating caused a noise from the radiator that woke us at 5 in the morning.

Spur of the moment booking through Lastminute.com (check with the hotel first, would've been cheaper to book direct) Had Dinner B&B, room was comfy, clean and very quiet which was ideal. We were on 4th floor and with no lift was OK for us but not ideal for older guests. Hotel isn't a modern building and is as you'd expect...

We had no idea there is no lift in the hotel and we were given a room on the fourth floor. Since one of our guests has walking difficulties the receptionist was kind enough to give us a disabled room on the first floor. We did encounter problems with this room. The shower was not clean and the wash basin...

Hotel looked very smart on line and boasted a recent refurb. Our room was very dated and tired, mouldy curtains, condensation marks on walls, v dirty windows etc. Manager said room is due a refurb but Mercure should not be using this room (332) until this is done. Evening meal in restaurant was great - good food, generous portions and...

Really lovely hotel and very nice people, food and the wild life walking around the grounds. The only downside for me was no lift and we were on the 3rd floor. We would stay again if we could have a room on the ground floor or 1st.

Dear Carolei49 Thank you for your comments about Bowden Hall. We were delighted to read that everything was excellent and to your satisfaction during your recent stay with us. Our refurbishment last year certainly has the wow factor as we took on board customer comments on here and invested heavily in bringing our hotel into the 21st Century. We are...
