This is a horse racing enthusiast's dream pub, packed with photographs and memorabilia - and very enjoyable even if you're not a race goer. What of the other qualities of this place? First past the post would be the staff, who were outstandingly outgoing and friendly. Going to The Hollow Bottom was like being welcomed to a congenial party. And...

It was quaint and set in a lovely little village. Thats all I can say about this place. The room was TINY with the bathroom across the hall. The plaster was peeling from the ceiling and there was a strange smell. We left straightway, money be damned. There was a 4 start rating outside and it didn't deserve that, nor...

Stunning food - Chef & Co-Owner Charlie is ex-Claridges, Savoy, Gleneagles and Royal Troon. The food is sensational. The Crab dish we both had was one of the best meals we've ever had and we dine out a lot. A LOT. Truly sensational food. Service was equally impressive. We stayed 4 days and were always met with a smile and...

We stayed for 2 nights at this dog friendly pub/B&B. The rooms were lovely and the food excellent. The staff we all welcoming and helpful. There are great walks around the local area and is an excellent location for visiting the surrounding villages and sites. We will be coming back here soon.

For the second year running we had a wonderful monday afternoon and evening pre Cheltenham Festival staying in Earth Summit room which was immaculate. On arrival just after lunch we were made very welcome once again by Hugh and his wonderful team. We were also delighted to see John Nield and Nige and other owners and real race gowers in...

One of the worst rooms i have ever stayed in this last year. Small with bathroom located across the hall. Poor lighting in bedroom with small mirror over dressing table - completely useless. Cold time of year but the heating didnt come on in the bedroom until 6pm. Bathroom was a good size and had a good shower and bath....

Thanks you for bothering to leave a review. Having looked at others you have left I can only assume that your opinion is based on Dubai hotels and expensive coffee shops. We are neither, just a lovely 17th Century Pub with cosy wee rooms and a friendly service and atmosphere. I will never stop anyone laughing in our pub, it...

A real find. A pub with rooms tucked away. Willing staff. Excellent food. Comfy room and bed (Mrs. Muck). The best breakfast I have ever had at a pub (very upset that someone should criticise them for not providing a 5 star hotel banquet type). We reported a water leak from the basin taps in the newly refurbished bathroom, and...

Excellent pub food, nicely presented, good wine list well chosen. Fabulous breakfasts with quite the best scrambled eggs I have ever had. Service - warm and friendly at all times. We chatted to...

Our second stay at the pub, between Xmas and new year. Pub itself was as expected. Fantastic. Good beer. Good food. Open fire. Very dog friendly. Lovely. This trip was let down by the room. We stayed in the converted coalshed out back as it'd probably be easier with us having a dog and his toilet needs... Trouble is, that...

Beautiful pub, lovely room which was spotless an extremely comfortable. Great cosy atmosphere in the bar, with a roaring fire. We came for a relaxing night away, and got exactly that. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hollow Bottom is a beautiful, traditional 17th Century Inn. Recently refurbished to blend the rustic with the contemporary. We have 4 letting rooms, 3 above the bar area and 1 outside near the rear garden. The Hollow Bottom is a bustling, busy country pub and restaurant and therefore noise can be heard in all the bedrooms on occasions despite the heavy acoustic underlay. It is a great place to visit for a unique atmosphere in the most beautiful village in the world. Come and see for yourselves! ... more   less
