Detailed Reviews
The owner Sajan, is such a wonderful host, you cannot help but connect with him. He takes such a personal interest in your comfort and your experience of Wayanad. Goes out of his way and gives of his time, to plot your itinerary for the day and ensures you get the most out of your time there! He has a choice of two good- quality homes. It is comfortable, clean, airy and has 24-hour hot water and WI-FI to stay connected with family.
On a recent visit to India I made a trip with a group of eight college-mates from Chennai, getting together after over 3 decades, and had the most wonderful experience! Often the place you call home for your stay, can tarnish your memory of a holiday. Sajan makes sure you leave with good memories and a new, very special friend. He makes it a very personal mission and takes care of every detail! You feel very special and very pampered!
If you plan on being there for a bit, I would enquire whether the washer has been upgraded - it is a somewhat older model that needs monitoring for each stage of the wash/rinse/spin cycles and takes a bit of your time. Sajan also told us he was getting a new microwave. He has an "on-call" Rijesh, who lives right next door and is always available to help. He provides the most fabulous Kerala breakfasts. Although only breakfast is included in the tariff, Sajan even helped us pick up dinner when we needed it. If you ask Sajan a question about something you would like to do, consider it arranged! He has contacts in every place and makes every outing a special experience!
I feel there is so much more in Wayanad that I need to see and I am sure I will be back!
Thank you Sajan, keep up the good work and I hope to see you again soon!

With my family, I stayed at this Villa Kaffee Bohne Home stay during 5-10 May 2015. It's a great pleasant stay with the assistance of the owner Sajan and his staff. He organized our daily tours and provided healthy food. I had been to Kerala to many a times in past, but never had such a neat, healthy and variety of food items. I loved it.
The property is at a very convenient place and spacious.
Given a chance, I would like to come back to Kalpetta/Wayanad and stay at this home stay.

Sadly, my partner and I are just about to leave Wayanad and will sincerely miss Villa Kaffee Bohne and all it has to offer.
First of all, I'm very surprised about the review by MMenon112 as the place is very clean and the food is very good, never causing us upset stomaches. It is clear that MMenon did not even stay at this villa, as there was no mention of Sajan. No real review of this b and b would fail to mention him.
Like all the other reviewers have said, Sajan is an amazing host. He helped us plan our days, arranged for a driver, went out of his way to make sure our dietary requirements were met at restaurants as well as in the b and b, and even invited us to his home to meet his family. Moreover, Rijesh, the property caretaker is sweet and prompt, taking care of our every need. The meals, prepared by his wife, were superb and plentiful.
My partner and I are very well travelled and have never received the kind of hospitaliy and care that Sajan graciously provides. Sajan loves meeting new people and cares about you as if you were family.
Sajan makes up for any difficulties you might find such as the rooms being noisy and bright at night from traffic. You won't be disappointed if you choose this place!

We, 8 College mates of yester years had planned a tour of Kerala Our first stop was Wayanad. We had initially contacted Sajan, the owner of the property in November. Though he seemed very polite and friendly I was cautious and took 2 months to decide on Villa Kaffee Bohne for our stay. But this gentleman is undoubtedly genuine. He takes great pride in his place, both the villa itself and Wayanad.
The homestay is well-maintained and clean. Breakfast on both days was delicious. Wi-fi was an unexpected bonus for us. Rijesh, the care-taker was always ready to 'serve with a smile'. Most of all, the personal touch of Sajan gave the trip a homely feel. Right from the time we reached Kalpettah, he took very good care of us - discussed our itinerary in Wayanad, suggested places for us to eat Kerala food, arranged local transport for sightseeing, made appointments for a few in our group who wanted to try Kerala Ayurveda and took us shopping.
The washing machine, however, needs an upgrade to suit the spacious lively rooms and bathrooms in the house.
On the whole, we had a very pleasant stay and would definitely return to Villa Kaffee Bohne on our next trip and also recommend this place to others. Best wishes Sajan.

Let me start with the statement that if you are looking for a home stay in midst of tea/ coffee plantation with farms/ fields around you- this in not the place for you. If not, it is worth exploring this as a base for exploring Waynad
Location:
The place is located just at the start of Kalpetta town and the door of the villa opens on the Kozhikode-Mysore-Kollegal Highway. This is one of the drawback in some sense as you may be disturbed by traffic, at least till the late evening. On the positive side it provides easy access to all the major attractions.
Set up:
Think of a 3 bedroom duplex house, reasonably well designed, clean, modern with space for sitting, sun room, etc. and maintain with good standard of hygiene, add an outhouse where the housekeeper stays and you get Villa Kaffee Bohne.
The place is much better that what it looks in the picture, the rooms are of good size and there are open spaces on the first floor to sit around and spend time.
The house was renovated for this purpose and the electrical fittings are modern, wash and bathroom are well designed and maintained in sparkling state. There is a full sized kitchen with pantry with good number of utensils & cutlery in case one needs them.
We were two families, but ended up taking all three rooms i.e. the full villa for more privacy
Food:
Veg ! Yes, whatever is served is 100% vegetarian. But even for a carnivore like me, that did not come as a problem. We had breakfast for 3 days and dinner once and the food was homely and very delicious. The food is prepared by their housekeeper and is regular home cooking of Kerala. The dinner if required, needs to be informed in advance.
Service:
Before booking, all the reviews said so many good thing about Sajan (the villa owner) that I started doubting the authenticity of the reviews. But from the time of booking to the time we reached home, Sajan was coordinating and guiding us to make sure we had a good time. The housekeeper (Rajeesh, if my memory serves me well) is sincere and very polite but is conversant in Malayalam only.
Sajan is from Waynad and knows all the good places and it is recommended that you take his advice for selecting where to go, when and how.
Final verdict:
Very satisfied with the overall experience. Recommend for groups/families since the place can easily accommodate 8-10 people.

We visited Wayanad in mid-April 2014. We were a group of friends looking to take some time off from our hectic schedules and escape the city's traffic & heat.
We pre-booked Kaffee Villa Bohne as we'd been recommended by a friend. The host Saajan got in touch with us and the hospitality started even before we reached Wayanad - he suggested restaurants to break for lunch en-route to Wayanad. Luckily we arrived to an evening mist and pleasant weather. Saajan was really helpful and guided us to local sightseeing destinations and helped plan our 2-day stay (trust me - stick to his advice while planning your day, you'll thank me later).
The villa itself is quite well maintained and spacious - ideal for a group if you book all three rooms since you have the whole place to yourself. The kitchen was so well equipped we indulged in some cooking and had a really good time. The rooms and washrooms are clean and comfortable - I'd say great value for money. Also, a special mention for the caretaker (Ratish if I remember correctly) - he made us a delicious breakfast and was on hand to help with some impromptu shopping around 9:30 PM when most shops had closed for the day.
To conclude, I'll say a great place to enjoy authentic Kerala hospitality and extremely affordable luxury if you are a large enough group and have the villa to yourself !

After researching a lot on TripAdvisor and on other sites for a good hotel or home-stay in Kalpetta, I booked the Villa Kaffee Bohne. It was excellent, the day I was traveling to kalpetta, the owner Sajan was in Bangalore, but he was continuously in touch with us to make sure that we were having no difficulties.
The food was excellent, the house was clean and well maintained, rooms are very spacious and clean. Sajan is very helpful and honest person. Our first trip to Wayanad turned out to be one of our most enjoyable thanks to Villa Kaffee Bohne.
I would recommend this place to everyone

It was the long weekend of Aug 15th and we decided on the spur of the moment to head out for a road trip but were stumped at deciding places close enough to visit. We live in Bangalore and we've been to most places around. Then it struck why not Wayanad? Since this was last minute we called up a friend, who put us in touch with Sajan, who runs the homestay - Villa Kaffee Bohne, located barely 2 kms away from Kalpetta, the heart of Wayanad. The villa is well located and at the same time away from the bustle of the town.
The house has three rooms and we took the one on the ground floor. The room was spacious, very neat and clean, with attached bath. The house provided us with the comforts of home (and no restrictions - so often seen with hotels) with a drawing cum dining room which is very well maintained. The house has a cook and caretaker living in the outhouse who served us excellent traditional and local cuisine. The overall ambience of the place was excellent.
Sajan is a very sincere, nice and courteous person and took care of all our needs with great care. The hospitality and attention given to us far exceeds any that we have seen so far - truly focused on his guests. He helped us to map out routes to visit historical places besides giving us useful tips about the culture, history and other leisure activities the place had to offer. He was in touch with us at regular intervals to make sure that we had no difficulties.
Our first trip to Wayanad turned out to be one of our most enjoyable thanks to Villa Kaffee Bohne.
If given an option between the villa and a hotel, I would recommend this place to everyone (family or friends) hands down.
