The Green Mount Cottage is conveniently located in the heart of Kalpetta, the head- quarters of Wayanad, popularly known as the green paradise! Even though it is situated in the heart of the city, it presents a calm and quiet atmosphere to make you feel refreshed and healthy alive.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
I would like to thank Martin and his family to make our stay at Wayanad a memorable one! I would highly recommend others going to Wayanad to check this one out. The place is neat and clean, rooms are spacious and above all, Mr. Martin and family are very courteous and always ready to help. Ours was a 2 day trip. We enjoyed the calmness and serenity of the place.

Green Mount Cottage was recommended to us by the man at DTPC and we really enjoyed our stay. It is in a great location just off the main road and a 2min walk from the bus station and town and a 1 minute walk from the most delicious dinner at 'New Hotel'. The room is large and clean and the bathroom has hot water. No wifi in the rooms but wifi (quite slow) available on the balcony of the main house which is a pleasant place to sit. All in all, we are very happy with our experience.

Service: The best part of staying at green mount is the owner Mr. Martin Lopez. We went there without planning anything, we didn't even book any cab beforehand. All we had was a list of all places we wanted to visit. But with help of directions and guidelines provided by Mr. Martin, we visited all the places by KSRTC buses and saved us a lot of money. We had to extend our stay for one more day for which we didn't book but Mr. Martin made some arrangements and we could prolong our stay in the same room for one more day.
Accomodation: Room is neat and clean with a very spacious bathroom having a hot water geyser attached. A cable TV, a double bed with clean bed sheets and blanket are provided.
Location: Located at just a 3 mins walk from Kalpetta new bus stand. Despite being at the heart of city, the environment at the cottage is very serene with a small garden and trees around. As Kalpetta is at the center point for all the tourist destinations of Wayanad, this place is very convenient. KSRTC buses for all the tourist attractions are available from new bus stand.
Food: Healthy and tasty Breakfast provided everyday like Idly, wada, appam, idiyappam etc. There is a veg. restaurant named Udupi very near by for having dinner.
Bottom-line: Best affordable (1500 INR per day) home stay at an easily accessible location with great service.

Hello, so you are in the process of deciding weather or not to pick "Martin uncle's" (thats what i call him) or look for another place to stay in Wayanad. Let me take you through my experience -
1. Room- Very neat and clean, spacious room with a large personal sit out. Any window you peep out you can see trees and mountains. Bathroom is huge, clean and sanitized. Hot water is always available. 2. Food - Only breakfast is included in the tariff (Rs.1500 per night for 2 people), so if you need other meals please inform him in advance so that preparations can be made. Food is delicious and homely. And its eat all you want. No fruits are provided so if you need any at breakfast, please inform uncle or buy on your own. 3. Hospitality - Simply superb, he is warm and helpful. He arranged for a safari jeep that took us around the Wayanad state at various scenic locations. Also helped us get a car from there to our next destination, cheaper than what we could get. 4. Extras - please inform him about your plans in advance so that he can arrange for things. isolated place and complete privacy provided during your stay. All in all worth the spend.

Spent 2 days at Green Mount cottage located off the main road at Kalpetta, spacious-well equipped-very comfortable rooms, rest room facilities are brilliant, gracious hosts, fantastic breakfast. Will probably only stay at Green Mount during any future visits to Wayanad.

An excellent place to stay. The owener is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are big and spacious and the sparking clean. There is a cute garden and a picnic spot. A couple of cats also adorn the garden. Definetly a great place to stay :-) It is also very close to the bus station, and located in a very quiet and peaceful place away from the main road

Worst service and inhumane treatment from Mr.Martin and Cleartrip.com as the reservations were made from clear trip. Cleartrip cheated by confirming the reservations for 2 nights even when it was available for 1 night and when we arrived there we were left in lurch. Mr.Martin provided an alternative horrible accommodation wherein the roof was made of tin and made lots of noise the whole night depriving of 2 nights sleep. Room was not cleaned and the complimentary breakfast was insufficient. The food rates charged was also not as per the initial committed price. Overall not recommendable at all. Beware you will be cheated.

Mr.Das booked one room through cleartrip.(leading tour operate co.) His booking was online. clear trip sent a confirmation mail to us. But rooms were not available on that days. Immediately we contact Mr. Das as well as clear trip and informed this matter. The same time we asked him to contact clear trip for alternate arrangement. Hope he didn't contact them. .As per request of clear trip we arranged other one home stay for him. He should have contacted to clear trip before he comes here and clarify all. unnecessarily he is blaming me and clear trip. if we didn't inform this matter definitely that is our mistake. We are helpless in this matter. Thank you.

We went there as a 2 days trip and It was a pleasant stay over there. Mathew was very friendly and caretaking too! It is very near to bus stand and main road. I would highly recommend it! The breakfast was authentic Kerala style and we liked the Stew a lot.

I had booked hotel for couple of days, checked out after only one terrible day. No positives to mention: 1. No one to even show the room 2. No room service 3. No generator/ invertor. 4. No food on offer Such a terrible experience that I checked out in one day

During the Onam holidays, we'd been to Wayanad. There, I along with my family (wife and two daughers opted to stay at Green Mount Cottage at Kalpetta which was a good experience as far as we are concerned in the sense that, the cottage had ample space and was very clean. Stay at this place was comfortable and cozy and had good privacy, more than we expected. Mr. Martin who owns the cottage was very friendly and provided all the help we needed in respect of our tour programme. He treated us very warmly and the homely breakfast he arranged was the plus point.
