I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. The menu is imaginative and consistently delicious, and staff are lovely. The water goblets are also excellent.

The tandoori broccoli and kadai paneer were a particular delight.

I spent like 4 nights here on leisure and everything was just excellent. The resort itself is a place to cherish and with excellent staff like - Sajeesh, Rashid, and Vishnu, it was just splendid to have everything handy in no time.

Thank you guys for making this vacay fantastic for me !

It’s a must visit Resort, adding a few pictures and videos here for reference.

We stayed at the Green Gates for 2 nights whilst traveling down to Cochin and Kovalam and had a really mixed experience!

Positives:
+ large spacious rooms with nice balcony and clean and simple decor - dark wood, white walls etc.
+ nice landscaped gardens with wild animals - monkeys, geese, chipmunks etc
+ good hot powerful shower
+ lovely spa with great massages

Negatives:
- resort and accommodation is dated - could do with some money spent on it to bring it back to it's former glory
- service levels were so varied it spoilt the whole stay.
- dry state so you're lucky to get served a beer at dinner
- value for money wasn't good
- pool area wasn't clean and the pool water itself needed attention

A little more on the service experience....it just felt like no one could make a decision and whilst we had great service from the tour manager who organised a great day's sightseeing, the reception staff and waiting staff in the restaurant were all over the shop. Our room wasn't cleaned and we asked for it to be done and it never happened - we waited over an hour to get fresh towels. We asked if we could stay one more night to enjoy the pool area and relax but eventually decided to leave as planned as we felt we were unwanted since a large party of domestic visitors had arrived and basically took over the entire resort.

Food was very average and location wise there is little else to choose from other than the eateries in the resort. The place could be really special if they upgraded the decor and communal areas and gave their employees a little more freedom to make decisions over simple requests rather than them having to run to their manager's every time you asked a question.

After 2 trips to India and a lot of hotels, this hotel was by far our worst experience. Average welcome, long wait before we can reach our bungalow, bungalow decent but without more, Wifi in our bungalow little or not usable, in the evening at dinner nothing ready, the impression of being in the school canteen, no service, borderline to rid his plate and go do the dishes, Indian food only, dessert, we are still looking, only positive, at night, it was quiet, then no hot water for the shower, breakfast, we did not take it, new Indian food only.
Our driver to whom we told all this passed a soap to the receptionist.
Conclusion, hotel to be avoided, especially for Europeans, and hence this rating, the first time I put 1 star.

Dear All, we recently stayed (17th, 18th & 19th Nov-2011) in green gates resorts. I chose this resort to celebrate my wedding anniversary in a different way, hence i booked bamboo tree house for 3 nights and 2 days about and 2.5 months ago and got the confirmation for the same. After staying for 1 day in the tree house, all of a sudden 2 staff "Mr.Nitin & Mr.Shall " approached us and said that they have taken another booking and we have to check-out from the tree house. we refused to do so since it was not our mistake and we went for a sightseeing next day which is 60 kms away from the resort ; they called me around 20 times to get the room keys. Finally "Mr.Nitin and Mr.Shall" said if we do not change the room with in 1 hour, they remove all our language and belongs from the tree house and shift it to other normal room in our absence, or they asked me to check - out from the hotel. Since is was already 5 pm and we were only 2 , we had no choice other then going back to ] resort all the way from 60 kms wasting my time and money for no mistake of ours and stayed in the normal room. The staffs are very rude; they don’t even bother about guest. Lot of hidden cost, for e.g. they say food is included in the package but charge extra for water. The resort is right adjacent to the highway; you can hear vehicles’ noise 24 hours. They spoiled my whole trip. They do not know the value of our special days. There is no hospitality; it is only money matters for them. We advice not to select this resort.

Booked this place through phone after seeing their pics n sites, we were told that the normal
Deluxe room costs ₹4500/- and they will give it for ₹3200/- a special rate as we were a group. We had reached the place at about 01:00 am, was very much disappointed to see the rooms as it looked so tiny, untidy and looked like a ₹ 1000/- rent room of a local lodge/hotel. As we were tired slept off like that and in the morning we were awaken by construction sounds. When we opened our doors we saw work going on in the opposite side rooms. It was a mess as there were workers doing tile cutting, laying n so on... When we checked out own room we found it was so filled with the dusts from the opposite renovating rooms. Is this the service you expect from a deluxe room costing ₹4500/-? They could have done renovations at a floor by closing the entire floor and not giving rooms to guests in that floor. When we complained about this they kept mum. Spoilt the entire fun. Food was pathetic, we saw some North Indian guests complaining as there were only meals for lunch n so on. They had more than enough staffs but they were least bothered in any service. They were in group and were always at their own world. The play area was kept so untidy, when we asked for table tennis ball, we were told to find it out ourselves. The only good thing here was the swimming pool. Highly not recommended as it's purely a waste of money and a total mood spoiler. Request you to enjoy ur holidays by not selecting this.

We stayed here only for one night, which was enough. We booked this hotel only because we wanted a hotel with a swimmingpool. Upon arrival we found out the pool was closed for maintennce, which was a major disappointment to us. If we had known this, we would have gone to a cheaper hotel. But we booked this one way in advance. When I mentioned this to the staffmember who brought us to our room, whe said the manager would call us within the next 10 minutes. But we dindn't hear anything.

At first site, our cottage room looked lovely. But then we noticed lots of long black hairs lying on the floor, which disgusted us a bit. After that, we found out that the toilet wasn't attached to the bathroomfloor. When sitting down on the toilet, it felt as if the whole toilet came loose. Also there were clean sheets from housekeeping lying on one of the rocking chairs on our terrace. When we asked them to be removed, they just put them on the chairs of the neighbouring terrace. They still were there when we left. I wonder who's bed they were going to make with those sheets??

We had lunch here, which wasn't very good. Diner was better (best jeera rice we've had!), but service was very slow. You keep wondering if you can see six people serving in the restaurant with only four guests, why you have to wait half an hour even to get drinks? Whe just wanted to have a coke. When drinks finally arrived, they were light, which we do not drink. When we asked for a regular coke, the waiter answered that there was a problem with refrigerator space, so regular coke was available but not cold. We ended up with two cans of lukewarm coke. Bhwagh! Breakfast was the same pattern. Six men walking around, but we didn't get our coffee until after we finished the food....

We still had the swimmingpool issue to deal with. In the evening we spoke to the manager at the front desk. At first he stated it was clearly mentioned on their website that the pool was closed. But we booked way before and did not check the website again before we left home. Then he offered to give us a free lunch, which we accepted. As we already had lunch, we didn't have to pay the ticket. But on checking out we found out that only the food we had for lunch was removed form the bill ans the drinks were still on. As our patience with this hotel and its staff had to this point dropped below sea level, we started another argument. Which after two phonecalls resulted in not having to pay for the drinks.

We left Green Gates, knowing for sure we would never, ever return here. Although looking beautiful from the outside, this hotel really suffers from a severe lack of management, which is such a shame.

My stay at this place was simply terrible. I am happy tht i stayed here for just a night and moved to another one the next day. Firstly they have no clear boards showing directions to their hotel, the staff there i think themselves dont know the directions to their hotel. We were going to wayanad from bangalore and as soon as i reached kalpetta i called up the hotel to ask for directions, they simply said keep coming ahead.....I called them some 5 times and they kept saying tht. ( may be thts the only english word they know ) In this process we reached Vythri and almost lakkidi. Then my husband finally called a malyalee guy at the check post and asked the hotel ppl to tell him in malayalam where their hotel is . Then we got to know we had to drive back 15kms again. It was already lunch time and we were travelling with our 8 month old kid. We finally reached there. Then we get to know that the room we had booked was shut for maintenance and they had booked a different acomodation for us. This was really frustrating , they asked us to stay in a near by hotel called kalppad. This hotel i think is making business thru green gates. This Hotel kalpad has Ac but u cant switch it on, has Gyser but not a drop of hot water, no room service, No one will answer call for housekeeping. Then we went for lunch to green gates coz they said we can use all the amenities there even if we r not staying there. THE LUNCH was hopeless... I dont know how many days old food they serve, I couldnt eat anything but an icecream.

The dinner was terrible too
my advice if ur planning for a pleasant holiday pls this place is a big nooooooooooooooo..........u can opt for wayanad silver woods....tht place was like heaven for me after staying in this place

Service was poor, asked for tea/assistance repeatedly and it never came. Hotel was super loud from morning until night. Pretty place though. Would not recommend for a solo traveler, this seems like a family/big group place.

Cottages are there in the hotel but little bit costlier. Also rooms are old so suggest you should stay on the top floor room which is larger in size. Food is too good.
