Detailed Reviews
First things first - please note this property is not in proper Tanjore. It is about 20 Kms. away from Tanjore. It is actually suitable for people who have a car at their disposal and are visiting/staying in Thiruvaiyaru, famous for Sri Thyagaraja Swamy's samadhi and the annual music festival.
I had to stay in Thiruvaiyaru for a couple of days and found this to be the only suitable option.
Good property - spacious rooms that are clean and neat, good bed and good washrooms. The service at best can be termed above average - this is primarily because they employ some senior citizens for the service roles and they have a serious language problem. Did not check out the food since I was in any case attending a wedding there :)
The biggest advantage (for me) is the free high speed internet that the property provides. Helped me get through some urgent office work there.
If you have any reason to stay in Thiruvaiyaru and don't want to commute from Tanjore, this is the only AC and clean option.
Price obviously is on the higher side.

ALA Resort is a decent and quite place on the North bank of River Cauvery, about 4 km from Thiruvaiyaru on the picturesque and historical Thiruvaiyaru - Kumbakonam Road. By no stretch of imagination can it be called a "Resort" but the rooms are relatively large and clean, with courteous staff and decent vegetarian food. However, they seem to have no connection whatsoever with Tripadvisor! After booking through Tripadvisor, I played it safe and called up the hotel to verify if the rooms were indeed booked. I was shocked to learn that they had no information from Tripadvisor and infact had no connection with them. Though a busy weekend due to the Thyagaraja Aradhana they were kind enough to accommodate me and my family.

As someone has mentioned earlier, this is not a resort, but a hotel with a rooms and restaurants. Unlike other hotels where one has to go through some lighted or dark passage with rooms on either side, this has rooms by the sides of an open space.
Room was spacious. informed them about a water leakage in the toilet. Hopefully, they will repair it soon. There is a veg. resaurant (opens at 7:30am). Did not have food there, since I had gone for the Thiagarajar Aaradhanai at Thiruvaiyaru (4 to 5 kms from the hotel).
Service was good. One of the persons dropped me at the nearby bus stop in his scooter. Did not want to use plastic bottled water. Instead asked for filtered water and got the same.
Thriuvaiyaru is about 4 to 5 kms. Better to have your own vehicle. otherwise, one has to depend on the buses (which is not frequent). I had taken a cab from Trichy airport (about 60 kms, Rs. 10 per kms) booked through a travels. Paid Rs. 1200 for a drop (since they charge both ways).
There are green paddy fields opposite the hotel. Pleasing sight.
Prices may be on the higher side, but given that there is no other good hotel in the vicinity, this is a good option.

I am here to share my worst experience with this fraud hotel. we called up the hotel to check availability on 7th Jan’17 and we were said that rooms were available. So we booked in this hotel for thiruvayuru thigarajar aradhanai festival Jan'17 through online booking. But when we reached there on 16th Jan’17, receptionist told we haven't booked in spite of showing online booking confirmation and payment voucher, and also receptionist denied to provide rooms as all are full. There was no manager available (missing from the scene) in that hotel (seems to be regular missing as per other hotel staff feedback) for further face-to-face interaction/clarification. It was a clear fraud of selling our room at a high cost during the season by hotel manager. We were stranded in the streets of thiruvayuru without any option. DON'T EVER TRUST THIS HOTEL FOR STAY .

We were at Thiruvaiyaru for the 'Thyagaraja Araadhana from 27 Jan for two nights and three days. It's a sort of a boutique hotel. Very clean rooms comfortable mattress and linen.Service quality was good. Dharani in front office and Singaram in the driver's seat runs the resort well. This is probably the standard hotel in Thiruvaiyaru.
