We visited this place actually in 2014. Superb location and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in peace and calm. Surrounded by water and greenery, we came back all refresh.
Breakfast was typical south Indian.

Good facility, over-looking the beautiful Paravur lake. Very calm atmosphere; good for a retreat. Conference facility also available & good. I was there for a conference. Half the toilet is open to sky & 3 banana plants within! Great! Of course, with no inconvenience & not affecting the cleanliness.

Aquaserene is a beautifully laid out resort by the Ashtamudi Lake, complete with little scenic bridges and water canals !.There is a good swimming pool with deck chairs for sun baths. The rooms are picturesque modeled after the ancient Kerala 'Illams'. The food was not very exciting , thought the restauarnt is clean and well lit .
They have cute hammocks between cocunt trees , just right for a siesta. They'll take you for a motor boat ride too.The experience was good what with a a constant breeze and the view.
The drawback was the location, its quite some miles from Kollam Centre, and the in roads are not that good.Still its good for a large party of friends/relatives either to spend a day or the night. I'd also recommend it for a honeymoon. Not for family with lil kids coz you'll be constantly worying if they would jump into the waterways in between !!!!

Arrived from via train on New Year's Eve. The hotel driver left myself and my partner out in the rain at the train station telling us they were there to pick up someone else and refused to give our taxi directions. When trying to call the resort to get directions, they repeatedly hung up on me. When we finally arrived thanks to very helpful people and a determined taxi driver, they told me I had no booking. I showed them my reciept from my online booking and they still said they had no record. I called the booking company and my Indian sim credit ran out going through automated caller. The resort refused to call for me. They refused to give me anything written to say they didn't have a booking, and refused to give me a name or let me talk to a manager. "He is enjoying the party" they told me. After taking a photo of the man refusing to give me my room he game me his name and sent me to the same taxi driver who left me in the rain to get a hotel 20km away. I had to pay for this driver.
Now they are claiming that I stayed there even though I have the receipt from the different hotel I was forced to stay in as not too much is available at 9PM on New Year's Eve.
Might be a nice place to stay if you can get in the door. Very saddened by the continued dishonesty.

Normally what u see in web site of hotels/resorts generally looks very attractive and in person the total picture changes. Our Myth was totally broken when we arrived and stayed at AQUA SERENE at Kollam in Kerala. It was more beautiful than one see on their Web Site. We were there from 23rd to 25th of December,2009. Property is surrounded by back Water from three side. It is really a paradise and stay was really like you are in GODs OWN COUNTRY. The staff of Aqua SERENE is so Humble, Caring, Co-operative and nice, they really spoil you by giving the princly treatment. They are always Smiling and ready for any help. The services from all the department like Plumbers, Electrician, House keeping, Cleaning and Catering are very much on their Toes to sort out any problem or request of the quest to be fulfilled promptly. Mr. Anish, Ms. Rangani and all the staff member at front desk are wonderful people. GM of the Resort Mr. JIJUMON is such a warm and down to earth person and always keep boosting his staff for being so gently with Guests.
Ambience is really SERENEas the name goes. Maintainace is superb. Each and every staff are very much alert and helpful. Eg. Hammock in front of our Villa was broken and we were trying to fix it. A Lady Sweeper from maintainance dept was collecting the dry leaves etc saw us struggling to fix the hammock. With in an minutes two person came besides us with the new Hammock and apologised fro the broken Hammock and changed the Hammock with the new in no time.
All the rooms are well maintained like our homes. The villas/ Rooms have ancient architectural designed exterior and interior . Villas and some of the studio rooms have unique open to sky Bathroom. Airconditions are very powerful and the bedrooms are very Big and levish.
Food is excellent with Restaraunt superbly located in the middle of the Property. Staff at Restaraunt are very energetic and keep it very clean. Food served is best and we always wondered that why people always say that food in South is big problem?. I have an answer ti that now that those who say so should come to AQUA SERENE.
I CAN GO ON AND ON WRITING ABOUT AQUASERENE AS I STILL HAVEN'T COME OUT OF IT AFTER ALMOST 2 MONTHS. i STRONGLY RECCOMMENED FELLOW TRAVELLERS TO SURELY GO TO AQUASERENE. REST I AN\M PESTING SOME OF MY PHOTOS AND VIDEOS WHICH WILL SAY ALL THE BLAST WE DID AT AQUASERENE.

After a week doing the Golden Triangle of Delhi, Jaipur and Agra, we sought someplace where we could relax by a pool and a beach for the second week of our stay in India. Our Travel Agent recommended Aquaserene, and I will not be using that travel agent again!
We had booked all five star hotels for our first week and so we trusted the travel agent to find us similar accomodation in Kerala. Clearly she was deluded as this is the worst, most basic hotel I have ever stayed in.
It was in the middle of nowhere, and when we arrived by bumpy car ride there was nobody to greet us. We went searching for staff and eventually found a reception area, checked in, and were shown to our room. From the outside it looked pretty - a traditional style cottage - but as soon as we stepped through the door the smell of must and damp assailed our senses.
The beds were wooden slabs covered by thin, stained mattresses with thin torn sheets and a single stained pillow. Curtains hung, torn, from the windows and electrical sockets hung from the walls. Lampshades were stained and torn. Furnishings were of the most basic standard.
The open air shower/bathroom that some find so amazing was crawling with insects and even lizards. To be honest we resorted to dragging a bucket into the bedroom at night rather than brave the open air toilet in the dark of night.
There was absolutely nothing to do - no shops, no entertainment, nothing.
The pool was a disaster - chipped and cracked with an obviously low water level. There were perhaps half a dozen wooden sun loungers, all of them partly or wholly broken.
The restaurant was an experience in itself. Everything was curried - everything! Breakfast omelettes contained chillis. Orange juice was a special order and took half an hour to be delivered to your table. There was no alcohol at any time. On several occasions we were asked to wait to allow parties of locals to eat, then we were seated and allowed to eat from what remained of the buffet, which was all of local style food. Outside, filthy empty sacks were piled high up to the kitchen window.
I went for an ayeruvedic treatment and ended up with a large lunp on my forehead - I was terribly upset over it and got no satisfaction from the "doctor" whoo supervised the "clinic".
At night the locals set of gunpowder explosions as offerings to the Gods. My poor Mother woke in the middle of the night and thought war had broken out. Me - I simply couldn't sleep.
There were two good things about this resort:-
The scenery and setting are unequalled. If this resort was managed and developed by the right people it could be one of the most amazing in the world.
The staff are so anxious to please - everyone, that is, but the managers. When we eventually "escaped", four days before we were due to check out, I left a tip for the waiters and grounds staff. Mum saw one of the managers pop it into his back pocket.
Never, ever, ever again.

Resort is well placed on the google maps.
At the first sight of the Resort we got a wow feeling. We got the lake view cottages . Staff here is very co-operative. Our package included a country boat ride that we took the ride before lunch. Our cottages were very nice.
We ordered king prawns, fish wrapped in banana leaf , some veg starters and it was served at the cottage. Everything that we ordered tasted great.
This resort is a great place to stay and relax and its very kids friendly.

Our Group Consists Of 4 Families And We Stayed There For Onam Celebration Package. When we enquired about this package they informed Us that it consists of 2 day and 1 night stay with numerous Traditional games ,gifts, ona sadya, with 7 Payasam,Country boat run ETC ETC....
The location of the resort is very good, very clean lake and the swimming pool is very good for family with children.
the sad part is the place is run by a group of unprofessional staff who don't have any idea about the basic tenets of hotel management.
The QUALITY AND QUANTITY of the food was very pathetic .Even though it was Buffet dinner and breakfast, they made us wait for ages for each refill .When we inquired about it to the staff they just IGNORED AND VANISHED to the kitchen.
The traditional cultural activinicties ,which they highlighted in their package ended with 4 children performing a 2 minute pulikae taste was un ethli.
About ONAM SADYA ,They made about 13 traditional vegetable dishes which all tasted same for some reason and the taste was un ethnic.THEY PROMISED SEVEN PAYASAMS BUT THEY SERVED ONLY 3 WHICH WAS GOOD AND FOR THE OTHER 4 PAYASAMS ,THEY DEMANDED 200 PLUS TAX FOR EACH .THEY WERE MORE THAN 200 PEOPLE WAITING FOR THE SADYA BUT THEY COULD ACCOMMODATE ONLY 25 PEOPLE AT A TIME.SO THE ONA SADYA EXTENDED TILL 5 PM.
MEANWHILE WE RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE RECEPTION SAYING THAT MORE PEOPLE ARE WAITING FOR THE COTTAGE AND WE MUST VACATE AND OUR PACKAGE REDUCED TO 1 DAY AND 1 NIGHT STAY.THE RECEPTIONIST SOUNDED VERY RUDE WITH US, LITERALLY CHASING US OUT.
What is promised in the package and what actually is provided during the stay do not match at all. .

The property is huge and not all the rooms are well maintained. But you can ask for a better one according to budget. The rooms are quite big too. The bathrooms are clean. The only problem with the bathrooms are that they have open terrace.
